So, we still have Dropship pilots trying to get enough hitpoints to allow them to survive for any reasonable length of time, and WP so they can make enough SP and ISK to make flying them non-masochistic, and how we're having an HAV released that specializes in killing them even faster.

Personally, when I think of something that deploys bombs, I don't think of a helicopter. Yes, I realize that the Russian KA-50 Hokum can carry small bombs, but that's far more the exception than the rule. To me, carrying and deploying bombs seems like more of a role for Fighters. That way you have to handle the mechanics of dropping the bomb properly at speed to hit the target, increasing the skill ceiling of such a weapon. Imagine a Dropship pilot holding position over your HAV and just hammering the bomb button every time the cooldown finishes. Putting a high-damage unguided weapon onto an aircraft that can hover, and especially one that can hover at high altitude, will most likely result in even more complaint threads than the "towership" shenanigans from E3, and either bombs being nerfed to uselessness or another flight ceiling being put in. I'm gonna say that bombs should probably wait until Fighters are implemented so we don't have hover-spawn-farming or other ridiculous nonsense.

A bomber would be better as a fighter varient... wouldn't it?
Why are they reusing so many of the same models?
Possible reasons for so much model reuse:
They are having to budget art assets in game because of PS3.
The DUST 514 art department is understaffed / underfunded / crap / ill / all left recently.

This does boggle my mind, eventually maybe but what was CCP thinking at this time?
"Dropships, terrors of the sky, are absolutely laying waste to the ground forces we need a counter! Oh look that silly forge gunner thinks they can hurt these titans of the s...hmmm it only took 2 shots."
In reality I think they are meant to be the counter to bombers, but they better beef up dships to compensate. |

Same reaction.
I have a corp mate who is dedicated in trying to make it [the dropship] work. And every time he gets all hopeful I can't help but feel happy for him.
And then a few seconds later as his ship is on fire crashing yet again, I can't help but imagine a tiny adorable puppy getting thrown in a pillowcase and bludgeoned to death, set on fire, and then dropped from a high roof somewhere. |

In reality I think they are meant to be the counter to bombers, but they better beef up dships to compensate. I'm hoping they're designed to be a future counter to Fighters, because I was really worried about those.
As much as I can't wait to fly them, they'd probably be able to outrun swarms easily and be hard to nail with Forge Guns. Having a heavy mobile AA system will help a lot toward keeping them balanced.
Kinda like how the Skyguard flak turret is the best anti-infantry tank weapon in Planetside 2? |

If only we had some sort of page.... that let us see what they were thinking to do with future updates...
Some kind of page where we could scroll down, see the stats on the new proposed HAV and give direct feedback...
Maybe we could even be given the ability to score proposed designs! That way if an idea was terrible we could tell CCP, "hey, A LAV with a bonus to turret turning speed is.... USELESS "
But no we just have to take what CCP give us, deal with it, suck it up. |

You know, most FPS games let the user decide when to reset the camera with a button press, so they aren't constantly fighting with the #$%@#$# camera trying to reset itself when I don't want it to move.

Now you have a ******* paper-cannon (glass is too strong to use as an analogy), that is supposedly balanced by being able to use the most faceroll weapon in the game to kill other vehicles.
As hilarious a mental image it is to consider 5 Assault Dropships nuking every vehicle that gets called in until a single Forge Gunner comes out and 2-shots every one of them, I think that's a little too ******** to be ignored. |

ok here's my thoughts of the way it will go:
a) CCP neglected to announce a new aircraft variant or role all of itself.
b) DSes are going to get more stats to help survive.
c) all tech levels of vehicles including DS STD-ADV-PRO will be released and to counter the strong PRO vehicles an AA tank was needed.
d) CCP is releasing an AA tank because they hate pilots.
and I gotta say, I hope its C because that's where we need to be going, actually able to get PRO gear for once nvm all roles and race variants and turrets. Otherwise it was to soon to release an AA tank. |

It would have meant that the hard counter is measured and balanced against it's intended target, now unless the destroyer is forge gun bait it's going to get needed to he'll because of all the Infantry qq. The two things concerning it that I want to know however are Are we seeing a new AA turret introduced? How much higher can the destroyer aim? |

well for the ladder seeing it has a faster turn speed I`m going to guess it can aim much higher then others, I assume its also fast but not necessarily strong. |

Uh....
Rail gun tanks are all that's needed for dropships, trade off for faster rof and turn speed will not be worth it. |
