Dear Devs GǪ i try to give some ideas here, no flame. YouGÇÖr on a good way with Dust514, it has potential in many ways.
I know youGÇÖr working on the Falloff for Handguns, but keep in mind that weapon should be in a right relation to each other!
ItGÇÖs 2013 in the Real word and Dust514 is something like 2500+ LetGÇÖs talk about the Weapons and their Characteristics NOW in the Real World (Source is Wikipedia):
Assault rifle: Should at least have a firing range of 300 meters Machine Gun: The M60 (as example from 1950) is considered effective up to 600 meters when firing at a point target; and up to 200 meters when firing at a moving point target Submachine Gun: Key realizations made during World War II, notably the fact that most small-arms engagements occurred within 90 meters Sniper Rifles: Effective ranges in combat situations have been stated at between 600 to 1,300 m (as Example Dragunov from 1963) Shotgun: 12GÇ¥ Gauge from 18-37 m with a spread of 100-150cm (Spas-12 as Example) Grenade Launcher: Depends strongly on the Rounds 10-45 meters (Like M203)
Ok, letGÇÖs say this is for the Earth and the G-Force of 9.8, so It will change from Planet to Planet, depending on the G-Force. But i donGÇÖt want to be pedantic :P
It would be enough, if Weapons could get a more realistic range then today. I mean its a SciFi game and weapons changed dramatically within the last 50 years so imagine 500 years later! |

And if you thought redline sniping was bad before lets give the guns their real world ranges, ranges which exceed the length of the stages we are fighting on Dont get me wrong we desperately need increased ranges or fall off or anything besides this stupid bullets vanishing at a given distance but real world ranges are too much |

This is why we need the AR's name changed to the plasma carbine. It's meant to be a short/mid range, high DPS blaster rifle. If you want that kind of range, wait for the Caldari gauss rifle. |

Go ahead and change the ARs name to plasma carbine, and when your done with that create a new gun called the Assault Rifle thats just like it with longer range |

Edit: It's not about getting the REAL ranges ... but good relations to each weapon
Wouldnt it be cool if they had AK47s in the market place so you could compare the stats to the gek.......we already know the range what about the damage and Accuracy? |

Yeah! Its not about the real ranges ... but rethinking about the current ones
One Example, the role of "Machine Guns" were always: hard to move, lokal standby but terrible for offenders. atm its just bullshit! |

your not looking at big picture here fella, that's just numbers, I was taught 1 on 1 at 100 yrds , 10 on 1 at 300 yrds, 30 on 1 at 600 yrds, or something like that, it means in a 1 on 1 situation at 100 yards it should take you 1 mag to hit the enemy, in a10 on 1 it takes 10 soldiers a mag each to hit 1 target, ect ect,
numbers and stats and effective ranges are all just numbers, shots have been put well beyond effective ranges, adjust scopes to allow for drop, spin wind, cuvature of the earth ect... belive me when I say, this game is by no means realistic |

my spit has higher velocity and range than my HMG.
in what sick twisted reality do bullets from a heavy machine gun do less damage (via size and velocity) than submachine gun rounds.
(yes the hmg does less damage per shot than a submachine gun).
this game is real far from reality

right on man, in a real world situation your target very rarely stands still, that formula of mine has been thought by armys for years, its a quick generalisation of how things work, to keep in the back of your head, if you know what I mean, you will know what I mean, military men .. ! |

Unless you're trying to say an assault rifle taught him that, and that his friends are also assault rifles, you were clearly talking about people's accuracy, not the gun's.
Comparing target shooting and actual combat performance is laughable. |

But whereever you may look into, the MGs have same Ranges then ARs sometimes a bit more not 50% of its range Look this for comparison Range in YardsRange Diagram
that's what I mean, the effective range only drops with sustained fire, with a short burst and then taking the time to adjust your aim, effective range should still be 600 that is I assume you are trying to kill your target and not just spray and pray hell fire it 1 trigger pull at a time if you have to
