For these reasons:
1. No incentive to use it. 2. Target is detected anyways by being spotted. 3. Only good variants are the Quantum for longer target paint duration. 4. These don't help win battles unless there's a guy hiding in a corner. |

1. I play scout and intel = me stating alive = good
2. Yeah but often times you can't see the dude around the corner 100 m away
3. Basic is fine actually, I don't go a match without it
4. Guns may win fights but information wins battles, even if they show up briefly, knowing that the enemy team is attempting to flank and push an objective from two fronts can lead to a successful defense. They also help take remote objectives. Everyone at A? You and a squad go off to E to ninja and are killed by a small defence team who saw you coming with their active scanner!
Whatever it's popularity it is far from useless. |

I use it, the only problems I really have with it are: 1. targets dont seem to stay on radar for the time listed. I use the A-45 and it says 16 seconds, but its more like 3-4. 2. No WP for kills resulting from people being scanned. :( |

I've used the one which holds the enemy dot on the radar for 16 seconds, seemed to work pretty good and was somewhat useful. Lights up the map like a Christmas tree in ambush
I think the scanner has a narrow, but important, use under the right circumstances. Such as being able to light up any enemies left behind to protect a objective. And since you don't need direct line of sight, you can light them up from behind walls as long as they are in range. No more surprise pop-ins while trying to hack. |

Mass Drivers are freaking awesome. If people don't use them it's because they don't know how.
I got 4-5 kills within a minute using a MD earlier today and during beta me and 1 other logi held and eventually broke half the enemy team using a MD and a (pre-nerf) shotgun.
They do respectable damage with a high refire, can be used from pretty close in to very far away (if you've got the skills), and are IDEAL if the enemy team is clustered up or taking pop-shots around a corner.
All you need to seriously rock with a MD is a good feel for the arc. It isn't any harder than learning archery in Darkfall.
Plasma Cannons on the other hand, are utter trash. |

Amazingly I saw one used to good effect today. Somebody was using an aurum version (gasp) and managed at least 6 kills in an ambush. I guess they don't suck quite as much as I had previously thought. They still suck but perhaps not REALLY REALLY suck. |

They work great in pub games, but are not really needed.
They don't work in PC battles where they could be really handy.

Hmm. I use Plasma Cannon. Use it like a shotgun... it's surprisingly effective. Just have to aim at the feet.
Also. Scanners are really useful, shame there is no WP associated with it's use.

Now call down man, MDs are awesome but very especial among the situation and since it's creation you have to always have a flux grenade and a nanohive (change to respectable nanohive since uprising) with you. Don't take me wrong I love the MD, but since uprising hit it went from a beast at later levels capable of taking hordes of enemies (again situation is/was the key) to a narrow splasher unless your opponent is stacking armor, wich says a lot in games full of Caldari logistics.
Coming back to topic the scanner is good when your team is aware that you have it and want to take especific enemies or points, but they more likely will want you to have a repairer, explosives or droplink wich are more sustancial and long lasting equipments. You can try it as an assault for feeling like a bounty hunter or a space marine, but you'll feel the lack of other equipment who actually gives you WP. I try the AUR variant of lv 1 and I say is that kind of items you only see an impact on the battle at proto levels. |

I'd use it more in PC if!:
1: it had a longer scan range (maybe with precision drop off. 100m is crap on a real battle) 2: if the standard variant had a longer paint time 3: it had a wider angle (90 degrees std variant)
I run a proto winmatar logi and most of my fittings have an adv scanner on it but I never use it. Imagine if we used them to find uplinks...

And because of 2. i will not start and make use of it.
I would rather have the chance (if not squad leader) to mark up enemys, the same way the squad leader can. Often squad leaders are too lazy to make use of the common cycle anyway and just leave up a "protect clone" order....

the range is limited to the distance you can throw a sheet of paper, its not useful for what it should be useful for like finding snipers that are invisible because they haven't been rendered |

I don't use it very often , mostly if our team gets redlined or there is multiple tanks out on the field and I want to keep track on where they are. Works very well also if your team is pushing up a hill and there is a bunch of reds on other side at top, gives everyone a chance to see where the enemy is they are running into. Currently it's use is pretty limited, the range does kinda blow on the aspect of it can not pin point snipers chilling in the mountains, and no wp for kills being done on scanned target ( even only 5 wp would be nice ) |
