With EvE helping to finance it, I don't think it'll collapse for a good while yet, but it seriously needs a lot of improvement.

+1 agreed. MAG was a great game out of the gates. This game has not progressed in the right direction since the beginning. I don't care if it was a ''beta''. It was still out for people to play. MAG was more squad/team based and if you play with randoms on here you get stomped. Trust me I will let you all know when/if Dust surpasses what MAG was. The only thing Dust has right now is funding. See what happens when they run out of it.

Is that the best you've got kiddo? Did you figure out how to delete the game yet? Its complicated, I know. But I'm sure you'll find a FPS out there you might actually enjoy, there's plenty to choose from.

Step 1: Learn about CCP.

Step 3: Realize CCP have sunk too much time and effort to LET DUST die.

Man~ Can it wait? I'm still hung over from the victory party after 1-SMEB.

The only problem I see is that these sort of declines are a bit of a feedback loop. How long will players keep playing a game that is fundamentally broken and clearly unfinished? How low does the player count have to go before CCP stops devoting man hours to a sinking ship?

Just because they've had success with ONE game doesn't mean they will be successful with everything else they do.

The promise of this game is there, and it's why most of us are here, but at what point does the return in the investment stop paying the bills? If there are only say, 500 people online at any given time, how much money will they be willing to spend on further development? I mean, the game is already being developed at a snail's pace, much slower and it might as well be considered to have come to a complete halt.

The game has been in beta for well over a year, and we still basically have 4 maps, half the gear, and so much lag, frame rate problems, glitches, bugs, etc that it's rare to get an entire squad of six into more than 1 or 2 matches in a row without someone having game breaking problems. Extrapolate that problem across the 6 or so squads in each match and its almost a foolish to believe you EVER really get to play a match where everyone's game is running smooth and things are a fair fight.

If it takes them another 3-6 months just to iron this out (as a realistic timetable based on the last year of development), how may people will be left shooting each other with TACs on these 4 maps?

The promise of "SOON" can only last so long when it's in regards to basic playability.

Many of us came here for 64 vs. 64 matches on "procedurally" created 20km terrains, with tons of character customizations performing different battlfield roles, and where our alliances and dealings directly effect a persistent world, but right now they can't even get 16 vs. 16 on a small handful tiny static maps (that aren't even well designed) and the balance is so out of whack that 95% of all players who have any sort of clue use almost identical load outs.

It's just not even coming close to what CCP have claimed to be trying to do.
