The fact that CCP has milked this community for as much money as it has already with a game that looks like this at "launch" makes me have uncomfortable faith in their ability to keep this game afloat :/ |

I just played some wicked CO-OP Gauntlet: Dark Legacy on the PS2, and I would disagree with that statement. Dust looks way better than a PS2 game.
I do however think it's sad that DUST doesn't have a female sorcerer with a gas mask and angel wings running around spewing missiles while making funny noises. |

Too true. We're already at a stage where it's EoN vs CRONOS vs NF. PHI and RND are notable mentions too... But essentially, there are 5-6 Ateams, and when sh!t gets real in PC, that's all that will play. Now, that's all good, until PC boils down to 2 corps/alliances. Then it'll be the same fight, with the same teams, over and over.
Without more players at the nOOb level there will NEVER be enough proper competition to keep this game alive. Say 1/50 players is "competative" and puts up with Dust. And bothers to do PC against higher SP, top gear, HIGHLY experienced Ateams. That's 800 players joining the game just to get a new team to play vs any of the big boys.
I just don't think the game can support itself without PvE and industry. People can mess about with that stuff while gaining SP, forming contacts ect. PC isn't "competative battles" it's a lucky dip to see who gets the servers. But I continue to play, because of the contacts I have made over the last year. It's kinda like all the old MAG beta vets who still put it on now and again.
I think that In the long term, Dust is going to struggle to attract those new players. There's really nothing very attractive about Dust with 3 exceptions. Chat, constant clan battles, and "potential". |
