End of story. ^this, though I believe that boosters should still be available 100% Passive would remove incentive to really run any games whatsoever. As it stands, ISK alone is not enough push to 'drive' me to game consistently. A healthy mix of the two is required to keep the most players engaged. That's because the rewards for every game mode are exactly the same. There needs to be a bonus to the winner, like more isk and better loot than the loser. Watch how many people actually try when they have something on the line. On top of that, they screwed the pooch on FW and merc battles too. It's just the same thing as a pub match right now. Those need to be adjusted to add more incentive. Grinding shouldn't be the only reason to play and it shouldn't replace content. |

I have been I Dust since last summer. I didn't have the time to put into it like some others. At release I decided to give it a try again. With all the changes I messed up most of my sp placement, so I went to earn more.
I played a few matches to get the feel for it again, then found a squad to role with. After 3.5 hours of ~5-7k games I was done. Sunday I spend my earned sp from Friday and play for about 6 hours. That's when I hit the cap. So not exactly casual by some people.
I'm a console gamer so this sp cap thing is totally new to me. The only mmo's I've played are DCUO & Defiance, they don't have weekly sp caps. |

the SP cap is needed so true casual players are less likly to encounter death squads of vets.
whats more important, I feel, is a forum where more incentive is given for more experienced players to battle it out. Instead of laying waste to noobs and casual players, have a layering of gameplay suited for SP level. |

(yes this is still going on) Everybody should be gaining the exact same amount of SP whether they have time to play or not. End of story. This is the other extreme that doesn't interest me. As a guy with a family and a small business it's cool when I get a block of time to mash out a bunch of games and see some progress. I've had an eve character for 6 months. All I do is manage his skill queue. If I thought it would make any difference in the speed of SP gain I'd actually play it. If there isn't a clear vision of how I can assist my dust character soon I'll quit the game. This game is an awesome concept and likely appealing to people who have responsibilities outside of video games. What about a more intense selection when you activate your passive SP. What if you had more options? What if you could choose a higher passive SP with a smaller weekly cap or a higher cap with slower passive SP? If all you're doing on EVE is setting your SP "torrent," then you're playing EVE wrong. Join a corp an null sec and have some real fun. Passive SP is something that needs to happen to eliminate the grind that's pissing off so many FPS players that don't play MMORPGs. There's no doubt I'd enjoy Eve more if I played. I'm too busy grinding in Dust. You sir, have just proved my point in why Dust needs passive SP. No, you've pointed out the most extreme alternative to grinding. I think there's something in the middle similar to what I proposed above. |

Mad Proffeser wrote:Why is there a weekly sp cap? I've never seen a game with a weekly sp cap. Can anybody tell me why we have this? If someone wants to play 24/7 so what, you can only wear one suit at a time.
I just don't get it. I hit the cap in two days of casual play, now it's 1000 a game. After a few games of what would have been 5-9k each it was just not worth it. Why does CCP not want me to play their game? What if another mmo did this?
Good way to keep a player base CCP, only let them play for real 2 days a week.
so you can't go on welfare and grind sp. |

yeah, make an eve account and go look at the prereqs on a titan. i've been playing for 2 years, and it would take me 202 days just to sit in one. that doesn't count guns, shield tank, or armour tank... |

The sp cap does nothing to keep the two apart, vets can join any game except academy. A decent match making system to keep noobz and vets apart would stop most of the complaining on the forums and allow for the cap to be lifted. |

the problem is that there is no pve just pvp where each day people get stronger. see what we need is npcs to fight like drones so that a group of peope can go in an smash. you would set it up as easy med an hard an it would be mission based like a small quest of sorts for people to do an to skill up on at there own pace. the harder the mission the bigger the pay out . this would add that quest feel to the game an break up the just shoot at people all day thing an make the game feel more like a mmorpgfps. |

One thing every one need to remember is like Eve Dust is a constant work in progress. They are always tweeking things to make the game better. I didn't play Eve at the start but I'm sure that they had similar issues, and now the game is one of the best around. We all just need to suffer through the growing pains of a new game. I'll bet in 2 years they will have gone through 6 different "launches" and made numerous changes and additions. Personally I like the passive skill points in Eve, it required no game time to learn new skills. I even had the iphone app to learn my skills. I believe that Dust will become as awesome as Eve, we just need to be patient. rant finished |

Well as far as I understand it there is a weekly cap of (insert number here) I don't know the exact number. once you reach that you will get a greatly reduced amount of skill points (soft cap) For example I normally get 6k per game before cap limit. then 600 after limit reached. The week resets after Wed maint cycle. Any one else feel free to tell me I am totally wrong |
