I don't think the cap needs to go away, I think it needs to be reached quicker. I don't want to get left behind and it takes a lot of gameplay to reach cap. Now that PC is here you've got scheduled battles. I have to compromise between certain responsibilities in the real world to be available during some of those times.
In other words, "Babe don't divorce me, I'll do these battles at 5:00 and 7:00 and I won't play anymore today."
I can knock out some public matches before and between those battles and hopefully cap out if I put in one marathon on a weekend night.
I love his game, but if I sit down and start putting it to paper this is like a job. I really hope they figure out a way for us to balance life and staying relevant. |

SGT NOVA STAR wrote:you know in EVE it takes 30 days PASSIVE just to get lvl 1 in some skills right guys? im tired of you new people that haven't even played the earlier builds. you know wat our soft cap was at one point newberries? 50SP!!!!!! so be grateful! if you cant play, you cant get your new suit or ar. if you suck at the game and work alot, chances are your not going to have the same SP as a guy that plays 24/7. welcome to MMO's I totally understand where you are coming from, but there's got to be a better system than grinding like its a 40hr/wk job. I don't think you should have to put in 20 hours to cap out.
If you can find that balance you can keep more players around long term. |

Cosgar wrote:SP needs to be 100% passive. They way its set up right now adds a focus on grinding, eliminates incentive to play when capped, causes people who don't have time to reach their cap to fall behind, and encourages AFKing. (yes this is still going on) Everybody should be gaining the exact same amount of SP whether they have time to play or not. End of story. This is the other extreme that doesn't interest me. As a guy with a family and a small business it's cool when I get a block of time to mash out a bunch of games and see some progress.
I've had an eve character for 6 months. All I do is manage his skill queue. If I thought it would make any difference in the speed of SP gain I'd actually play it. If there isn't a clear vision of how I can assist my dust character soon I'll quit the game.
This game is an awesome concept and likely appealing to people who have responsibilities outside of video games.
What about a more intense selection when you activate your passive SP. What if you had more options? What if you could choose a higher passive SP with a smaller weekly cap or a higher cap with slower passive SP? |

If all you're doing on EVE is setting your SP "torrent," then you're playing EVE wrong. Join a corp an null sec and have some real fun. Passive SP is something that needs to happen to eliminate the grind that's pissing off so many FPS players that don't play MMORPGs. There's no doubt I'd enjoy Eve more if I played. I'm too busy grinding in Dust. |

I think there's something in the middle similar to what I proposed above. |
