The scrambler rifle received the buff to keep its DPS inline with the gallente assault rifle. The flaylock and plasma cannon did not receive the buff because they were not in Chromosome and were balanced after the weaponry skill bonus was removed. |

Now, hold up - you can't just standardize all of the assault rifles and just have them do different percentages to shields/armor... They need to have damage associated with their capabilities like Range, Rate of Fire and Dispersion.
It's one thing if the Assault Rifle's max range is 30m and it's dishing out 500 DPS and the Scrambler Rifle is doing say, 60m at 350 DPS but giving them both the same DPS scales with one having longer range is just asking for Power Creep.
Further more, I'd like to know how the Plasma Cannon was balanced in terms of when it was balanced - before or after the massive HP buff to LAVs/HAvs.
Edit; What I'm trying to say is, the Scrambler Rifle wasn't in Chromosome either - so giving it a 10% buff to keep it inline with a weapon that only recently received that buff (albeit, most of us had it to begin with) doesn't necessarily mean it's balanced. I'm not saying I've had issues with it, hell I haven't even seen it that often as it's so new, but it sort of sounds like a double standard here O_o? |

So, you're saying that the Flaylock and Plasma Rifle were balanced against weapons that did 10% less than now. Seems legit to just leave them alone then.
Maybe you should give this a second look, and oh yeah, that range thing. Thats' a thing. Perhaps you should work that in to your balancing because that seems to be an issue with the TAR at the moment. Long range weapons really ought to do less dps than short range ones for balancing purposes, right? |

TAR is a finicky subject though. Too little damage and the range bonus doesn't offset the skill required to use it, being as it is a single shot after all. I mean, it's like trying to say that Sniper Rifles should do the least amount of damage because they have the longest range but there's a lot of skill required in their use.
Now, this isn't to say that the TAR isn't OP as ****. It was okay before the 10% increase as it was much harder to put people down (and that works both ways!) but now that we're back to the twitch shooter BS it's a little too powerful at what it does.
Drop it down 10% (I SAID 10% CCP, NOT 60%) and see how it works. Nerfs/Buffs should go in slowly, not just shoved in there and hoped for the best. I'm still pissed they up and decided that Starter LAVs needed to survive (one-shot) against anything that's not Proto AV. |

All it would take is the DEV's going in matches for about an hour and they would hit that range nerf fast, due to it creating the imbalance that it does. If you want to compete " most" of the time, you have to run the TAR when the enemy is using it.

Not that I want to turn this into a TAR thread, but I did say DPS, not damage. There's a big difference. In any case, all of the weapons should have gotten the 10% buff because all of the weapons were "balanced" before the buff. Seems simple.

You got that right about the LAV's...The LAV is like a sneaky ass nija with mega health now, it would help if the allowe the AV grenades to be trown a little faster, or perhaps a module that reduces impact DMG recieved. |

So, you're saying...
Pre-buff AR = Flaylock (At least as closely as a sideweapon and main weapon can be "balanced") Buffed AR > Flaylock
Somehow I'm not sure how that slipped past CCP |

Ok. Because I thought the Assault Scrambler Rifle didn't received the damage buff, it feels weak compared to the Gallente AR. And it is based on DPS numbers. Shame. Thanks for the reply. |

I interpreted Remnant's words to mean they balanced those weapons for Uprising, because that's when the weaponry skill bonus (2% damage per level) was removed, and the 10% bonus to weaponry was put in place. Is that not what he meant? |

It's all a bunch of BS, honestly. The fact that Remnant just told us that the Scrambler Rifle was buffed because it was not in Chromosome, despite all three of them never having been seen/used before Uprising, is a clear indication to me that their internal balance guys have no idea what the **** their doing and I'm putting that lightly.
I had hope and I was deflecting a lot of the negative feedback with the sense that they had things in check, that there was some plan, but the fact that this OBVIOUS play on words was just... Thrown out there..?
I dunno. One weapon out of the three getting a buff and then the Vehicles getting a buff out of no where is just ridiculous. The Plasma Cannon is an Anti-Infantry tool and that is discouraging, at least to me.
Two days after Uprising's release and I have YET to kill a vehicle - LAV or otherwise - with the Plasma Cannon. This match I just played I got SO CLOSE, I had the Gunnlogi down to his Armor and then he just recharged his shields like it didn't even matter - like the 3 AV grenades and the 6 Plasma Cannon rounds I lobbed out just didn't even matter at all as he prances off like nothing happened, off to cover to restore his shields to full.
Logistics and Scout LAVs, I can understand the HP buff. They require extensive skill points and isk. Enforcer HAVs, I can understand the HP buff. They require extensive skill points and isk. Standard LAVs/HAVs, I'm mixed about. Requires SP and ISK but not nearly as much as my Gallente Assault Suit and it's Advanced/Proto gear.
But Militia LAVs/HAVs? I mean, seriously? I bet the same dev that planned out the weapon balancing for Uprising was the same person that implemented that HP buff and turned the Starter LAVs into an SPless/ISKless super charged death machine.
Clearly this thread has become how jacked up buffing/nerfing everything EVERY BUILD has caused this game to flutter off like a balloon farting air out as it wizzes about in desperate attempt to find somewhere to land. MMO Balancing? FPS Balancing? Mcirosoft Excel Balancing? Who knows anymore, because CCP clearly doesn't. |

Let's take a look:
The flaylock and plasma cannon did not receive the buff
Okay, so they -did not receive the 10% buff-
because they were not in Chromosome
Okay.. That's true... But neither was the Scrambler Rifle.......
and were balanced after the weaponry skill bonus was removed.
Ah, but the entire issue about the 10% buff in the first place was -because- the skill was removed. So if they did not receive the buff, and they were balanced AFTER the skill was removed but BEFORE the buff took place - what happened? Did they get balanced in with the weapons as they were pre-buff or did they have the 10% buff applied internally and -THEN- balanced them? |

It's simple, if the Flaylock we saw at Fanfest was considered "balanced"(which it may or may not have been, but that's irrelevant), then the Flaylock we have now is not because it and the plasma cannon didn't get buffed alongside every other weapon in the game.
Fanfest Flaylock = Fanfest Scambler Pistol = Fanfest SMG (at least that's the idea) Fanfest Flaylock < Current Scrambler Pistol = Current SMG Fanfest Flaylock = Current Flaylock.
Edit: And the 10% came after Fanfest, along with the HMG hotfix |

Exactly, so either they were planning for the 10% buff to come out to begin with and had it in their internal build and simply aren't making it known (which would save them a LOT of the confusion this thread has now been discussing)
....or they had no intention of it and everything this thread is discussing is not only relevant, but true.

Typical veteran complaint.
As a player with lower max SP, I've played in matches where the only way you can kill these proto pub-stomping jerks is by running them over with LAVs.
So go figure that the one thing they complain about is the only thing left that can kill them. |
