Plasma Cannon really does need a major damage buff... 10% isn't really going to cut it considering the player skill required in it's use and the recent buff to LAVs/HAVs.. |

Damage buff would be nice. Usually it seems like you can only hit stationary targets with the plasma cannon though. The projectile arc and speed makes it impractical to hit moving targets.
The Flaylock could probably use a damage buff too. The splash radius is very small, and it's three rounds per clip. It's great if it hits someone I guess, but the hit detection means that's infrequent.
In either case, the weapon mechanics are part of the reason they don't do as much damage as some gear. |

the flay lock nor the plasma cannon need a damage buff. they are great damage wise. but they could use a splashi damage radius buff. since the flaylock only holds three rounds increasing the splash damge would make it competative. even with the skill increasing its splash damage an over all 10%, 1 * 1.10 only gives you an extra .10 of a meter splash damage. the flaylock needs the same splash as the militia grenade to start. why?
submachine gun militia = great on advanced galaient assault scrambler pistol = " " " nova knives = great on heavies and everything else (great fix this is great.! :) ) flay lock pistols = hit or miss
yes if its not a direct hit, it does near nothing. especially since explosive damage means nothing to shields. having a 3-4 meter blast radius, plus the .30 or .40th of a meter can prove effective. itll be the only side arm you can kill yourself with but it will at least be competetive. i would dare say give it 5 to 6m blast radius. it wont be OP because there are only 3 rounds, and a scrambler pistol can still do much more...lol try it out. what can possibly go wrong? |

The flaylock and plasma cannon did not receive the buff because they were not in Chromosome and were balanced after the weaponry skill bonus was removed. Now, hold up - you can't just standardize all of the assault rifles and just have them do different percentages to shields/armor... They need to have damage associated with their capabilities like Range, Rate of Fire and Dispersion. It's one thing if the Assault Rifle's max range is 30m and it's dishing out 500 DPS and the Scrambler Rifle is doing say, 60m at 350 DPS but giving them both the same DPS scales with one having longer range is just asking for Power Creep. Further more, I'd like to know how the Plasma Cannon was balanced in terms of when it was balanced - before or after the massive HP buff to LAVs/HAvs. Edit; What I'm trying to say is, the Scrambler Rifle wasn't in Chromosome either - so giving it a 10% buff to keep it inline with a weapon that only recently received that buff (albeit, most of us had it to begin with) doesn't necessarily mean it's balanced. I'm not saying I've had issues with it, hell I haven't even seen it that often as it's so new, but it sort of sounds like a double standard here O_o?
Their weapon balance team is, charitably, a bit schizophrenic to say the least. |

i was just using the level 3 flay lock a few minutes ago... its pretty weak. a scrambler pistol or sub machine gun, hell even nova knives are more effective. if it takes 2 clips to kill somebody somethings wrong, especially if they're a scout |

Typical veteran complaint. As a player with lower max SP, I've played in matches where the only way you can kill these proto pub-stomping jerks is by running them over with LAVs. So go figure that the one thing they complain about is the only thing left that can kill them.
Off topic but I agree 100% with this sentiment, the LAV hp buff is a pain in the ass when your AV grenades now don't work as well against them, but due to the lack of any discernible match making in public matches its the only way to kill some of the better players in their glass cannon assault suits. Also Aeon Amadi is a legend for his dev team remarks lol.

My problem is the lack of range on any of the weapons except the sniper rifle.
You can say oh well the blaster assault rifles are meant to be short range, but it really sucks when you see a guy at what I would call medium range, and you can even scratch him let along shoot him down.
Does anyone else hate how everything has the range of close quarters? The reason the TAR is so op is because its the only rifle with any sort of appreciable range!
Give all the rifles better range. Or at least the scoped weapons like the burst variant should have reasonably good range.
Right now it seems that it goes.....
Knives>Shotguns>everything else (short range) ............... (mid range .. nothing here) ....... (long range - Sniper rifle)
That's not including railgun installations and other turrets, I'm just talking about handheld weapons. |
