I spec into the basic version of it,and to me,it does have a nice feel.
It has a lot of punch behind it,but there is just enough overheat to limit it,now in the hands of someone who can save his shots I fear for my lif-...

Yeah, patiently awaiting a re-spec right now.

I'm still a little confused because I'm armor tanking and the standard scrambler rifle is tearing me to shreds. |

It's still just -10% damage to armor. |

When I say it's tearing me to shreds, I mean really. I get engagements with people using ARs and it's normal as always. |

The Scrambler Rifle doesn't scramble brains like the pistol does so it only has regular headshot damage. |

The scrambler rifle has a higher base damage than an assault rifle. This is likely a balance to take into account that it will burn you if you try to burn ammo. There's also the charge mode. I've yet to try a scrambler rifle as all my SP went into dropsuit and passives... |

It's an awesome weapon, but much trickier to master than the AR.
For my part, I've only used the charge SCAR; it seems to work best at range using a single fully charged shot to take down shields, followed by a quick 2-3 shots to finish off the target. Miss or shoot one too many times and you'll burn yourself in the latter case and/or be useless for 5 seconds while your weapon cools. I've found it tricky to balance the use of the SCAR with my Scrambler pistol, as you can't swap if you overheat, especially in closer combat situations where the sidearm would actually be useful.
Overall, it's a weapon that requires a great deal of micromanagement; even more than the Laser Rifle.
Range clocks in at a max of 85 meters (for advanced). |

There are mixed reviews about it, its getting a lot of Love/Hate that either thread subject just doesn't stay alive long enough. I hate the Semi-Auto version but love the Auto version. They both pack a punch that make shield tankers want to cry, and if you can line your shots properly a charge shot can take out an entire shield and half of the armor of an infantry unit In the end they were made to suit different playstyles, the Assault variant for in your face DIE DIE DIE, and the TAC a assault/sniper hybrid support thing, I think the TAC-AR should overheat to stop the abuse of it. |

Yes, in my opinion I think the heat build up for the normal shots should be lowered a bit it is very hard to use when it comes to defending yourself, the semi is more for a suppressive type of gameplay.

Bad ass rifle. Got me unawares in domination. I'm finding out that my scout is a almost no use in domination. And I got use too sitting on my ass and gobbling up kills. ......maybe I should go sniper in dom?

Actually I find it exceptional for killing. The Assault SCAR would be better for suppression due to the low damage and full auto (23/700 for ADV if I remember right). |

I get killed when trying to line up shots when using the Semi-Auto variant. |
