I just wanted to add my two cents in the matter. First, the TAC does not have a further range than the standard AR. They are the same distance. Think of the standard AR's dispersion pattern as an ice cream cone. The tip of the cone being the muzzle of the rifle and the top of the cone the target you are firing at. The shap shooter skill narrows that cone to better hit your target when firing full automatic.
The TAC rifle fires more accurately because it is single shot, thus less wasted shots when on target. The recoil compensates so you cant rapid fire in zoom mode, unless you skill to decrease the kick back. In cqc the TAC is at a disadvantage due to the single shot. So there is a trade off, as well as the smaller clip.
Personally i would say drop the damage down to mid 60's, increase the clip size to 36 and give it a hip fire 3 round burst ability while maintaining the single shot scope ability. Then it would be a well rounded weapon |

Not calling you a liar, but I think you might be incorrect. I'd wager the GLU-5 TAR has a 10-20m further reach than a militia AR. Have a link for that same distance claim? |

Last build everybody was complaining about the lasers, now you have a weapon which is even more OP then the Laser used to be but thats okay, simply because its an AR? Seriously? You all were complaining about the lasers, and right now, the TAR IS the laser.
CCP has to do something about this. Nerf the range, or nerf the dmg, or nerf the shooting frequency. Or do it like they did it to the laser: nerf every statistic this weapon has :D
The game feels now very different and I think most of the weapons are balanced because they are all quiet weak, even the protos. The problem with this is that the TAR stands out so much from this. So we have to make all weapons this powerful, or simply nerf this one weapon, your decision CCP. There is big difference between a TAR and a Laser. You don't just slice your enemy under 2 seconds as lasers did. You'd actually have to aim and put it multiple shots. Nerf? Phhh... Why ? Killing you too many times? Pick one up and see if it's as easy as Lasers used to be....
I'll second that! Absolutely love the Tac though. |

Yeah im 99% sure the TAC has a longer range than the standard ARs.
TAC + Scrambler is god at almost any range.
However lets be careful to avoid calling the TAC OP until we see the role scrambler rifles will play. I predict the scrambler rifle will be a slightly less damage, less kick, more range, TAC AR. In which case, youll see the battlefield dominated by both TAC AR and Scrambler Rifles, with normal ARs being more of a mid/ CQ role.
The thing about the TAC is if you get the drop on someone its less of an auto win than the regular AR because due to kick the effective DPS is lower. If I get the drop on someone with the standard ARs, they are dead before they can react. With the TAC, they can usually start running or turn around before I can get enough shots in due to kick.
Now...they are still likely very dead. But just saying, there are draw backs to it. It requires more skill to use. Hitting moving/strafing targets is harder cause you cant just spray at them. Personally I love the combat in this game with TAC rifles dominating compared to what it was before with standard rifles.
The old rifles felt more of a toss up 1on1, these feel like the better player wins. |

I stopped reading after that. You are absolutely wrong:
Tac AR = 110m/71m optimal (and that was the standard version that no loner exists - the others are even further).
AR = 78m/35 optimal
Could someone please link the weapon effective ranges thread for this guy. I keep forgetting to favorite that damned thing. |

Was already linked to which i acknowledge being wrong, however your stats are off as well. You increased the TAC ranges a bit and decreased the AR ranges. |

Yah they must have updated the thread with the new stats for uprising already. Those were the old stats though. |

The duvolle tac is being used quite effectively by some people. I like the duvolle tac for the range, recoil is manageable & for me it isn't always easy to land shots on moving targets. So if you get killed by one then you were either stood still ( DON'T ) or they were a damn good shot & they deserved the kill. I prefer the Creo or Allotek.
Also when using the tac rifles you can avoid CQC where for me the aim & hit detection has gone for **** this build.

No biggie. The point i was trying to make was there were pluses and minuses to the weapon. I know there are those who use modded controllers to cheat the system. I would like to see them add a. 5 pause break between shots in zoom and a 3 round burst from hip fire with the same pause break. |

Stats are.
Duvolle : 42m optimal, 70m max
TAC duvolle : 64m optimal, 100m max I tested ranges last night for 3 hours on various guns.
Note that hitting the head with a 2 shot burst at 80m with the tac grant you 112% eff. Add some dmg mods and a slow moving target, you can hit a guy which as let say 400hp in 4 shots, achievable under 1 second. really effective. It can drop a 1500hp heavy in 15 shots without to much issue. I do have seen turbo mod user too. firing those 900ish RPM the gun stats provide...15 shots per seconds, 1500DPS, but there is probably good kickback to control there. Reduce the max clicking RoF maybe, to bring the max to let say 800DPS?
+ seeing people saying it work better in CQC than long range make me feel this even more like a "best in all situation" gun |

Consider me a "medium" player; been here since open beta (Jan), have crappy thumbs, and have found my roles. The AR is king, has been for a while. Why? It's the weapon that fairs well on every map; open, metro... if your gonna spec in 1 weap, it should be the all purpose weap, the AR. In the previous build, the TAR sucked unless you chose to use a "cheater" mouse or similar controller (they are out there, I didn't buy either). Is the TAR overpowered for a new Duster, or just for those who have "magic rapid fire fingers", meaning, "cheater" devices? Maybe the TAR doesn't need any nerf apart from time between shots. Maybe "as fast as you can pull the trigger" is the problem. I hate the AR. I think the LR should be the "common" rifle in this universe... but the AR needs to stay strong because noobs love it, and we need noobs to build our Dust community. We have to convert CoD players, if we nerf the TAR it should be minor, say, 1 shot every 0.2 seconds? I am not a "ruler of the battlefield", but this is my opinion. |
