Considering the vast number of unfair/ridiculous changes, Pay2Win accusations, and the obvious skillpoint sinks built into the newest patch for DUST I felt it time for a friendly reminder to CCP about those leaked company magazines that talked so highly about straight up milking your customers with pay to win schemes, and the emails that followed telling employees to ignore the customers and continue as planned.
Ultimately, it would seem, CCP either has forgotten those lessons the EVE players taught them, or they never learned and merely took one step and and two steps forward.
CCP, you are on notice, get your sh*t together.

Here are a couple memorable dev quotes at the time:
"With no subscriptions in DUST, we have to be careful about selling permanent awesomeness, as thereGÇÖs a danger of saturating the market. When everyone has everything, thereGÇÖs no reason to buy anything anymore. Concepts such as planned obsolescence and perceived obsolescence thus play a key role ." (obsolescence referring to the deliberate shortening of a productGÇÖs lifespan)
"Selling 'weapons' for real money is very tempting. ...we are planning on doing so...but the real reason is that we have strong evidence that selling performance enhancers works." (obviously, they kept this idea)
Download, read, and share before this gets locked folks.

So, how do you expect them to turn a profit with Dust since it's a F2P? There's been worse things done in F2P games. Would you rather Dust be using a Weapon-Rental system like others which outright forces complete dedication to get your money's worth? |

Totally with Jenza here . I have no idea what in the world you are talking about ???? You can buy low level BPO's for real money but as soon as you enter advanced level well you can't buy anything BPO wise and .... no sorry but really don't see what you are rambling about. |

For those that have trouble making connections, why do you think CCP is forcing a grind? You think its to make the game last longer? As of now it would take 13 years to unlock everything.

"Monoclegate" had bugger all to do with Pay 2 Win.
It was mainly a bunch of hysterical screaming about the price of a Monocle, hence the name. (ok, ship spinning disappeared and the captains quarters made GPU's take a massive **** but nothing Pay 2 Win in that build at all or any build in the whole bloody 10 Years).
I would be really interested to hear your reasoning behind the post and it's title, just so I can understand wtf you are talking about.
I've only been playing for 10 days or so but as far as I can see there is no pay 2 win, which is a bit of a shame because I would dearly love to pay to one shot the mini-blobs of Logi bastards that are running around atm (no offence Logi bastards, but you are, and deep in your hearts you know you are.).
As for the boosters, sure you can buy them, but then again you are not being forced into it.
Quick, before "THEY" lock the thread and come for you while you are sleeping.

Precisely. I don't like the way you can purchase actual weaponry via AUR, but I do love EVE, so I play Dust.
That being said, I think that the way that Valve manages its F2P games, and same with Riot Games for League of Legends, is the right kind of way to go. |

Playstation and microsoft are pushing free to play with their new consoles.
One model is CCP makes a fun game that pushes PS4 sales...Sony gives them money.
Sony also plans on making money with their PS4 rather then lose money like they did with PS3 sales.
it really isn't that radical of an idea. Sony sold PS3s at a loss hoping that licensing fees would cover it. It did not. This is the first year Sony has made money in 5 years. On the other hand developing software to push hardware sales has been a successful model for over 30 years.
The fact that Sony right now is getting all cozy with indy developers and letting CCP do all sorts of crazy things like beta testing and live updates and use PSN for account services makes me think this may be the model...or at least there are talks of setting up such a model.
But then again Dust has to be a success. |

If you would bother reading CCP's internal magazine, which I linked, you'd understand the title and post. The things in that magazine are what the EVE players were pissed off about, as the magazine directly discusses how to implement a pay2win scheme in EVE and DUST. The issue back then was about much more than overpriced monocles; and I see many of those things, being played out here in DUST with the Uprising patch.
I'll even be nice and repeat the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?n8ohtufd1mtamgb |

Yea... I'm still trying to understand exactly what the OP want with this thread, because CCP already kindly challenged us to find AUR items that don't have an ISK variant with the same status, because if there was, they would like to know so they could remove it/add ISK variant.
OP, you are obviously out dated and your concern is no longer relevant.

Eh?
I am not pissed about that at all. I am disappointed with game play, the nerfs and crap players who may or may not have payed who have OP gear and millions of SP.
Their business model does seem related to my OP gear/sp problem but only slightly...no reason why older players can't have that same gear and SP without paying any money....plus with only 5000 players on a night i have doubts they are making money with the model you are talking about. |

Fuse Grenades.
CCP side steps just because AUR isn't directly involved in it's purchase - but it's still a pay to win item. |

CCP learned some hard lessons during these times and needs to be sure not to repeat any of these past mistakes.
Significantly increasing the SP sink in key areas of the skill tree from Chromosome to Uprising only sends the wrong signals and needs to be rolled back.
The fact of the matter is making the grind worse and deepening the SP pool and the time it takes for a new player to become combat effective doesn't increase the longevity of Dust 514. It will significantly decrease it. |

This has caught me by surprise!!!!
CCP are trying to make money? From people using their services?
This changes world economics, hopefully other companies don't learn about shortening the lifespan of products to increase sales over time...........
