Every time a new build comes out, it's ok the first day or two which is the honeymoon.
Now after that period of being blinded by the new paint job CCP did. You start to notice all the different kind of ugly that this game is. Here is what I noticed
Assaults suit and assault rifles sights are joke. Heavies are just target practice that can't even turn. Hit detection is so bad scouts are viable again witch can be seen as a good thing if you try hard enough. The only way to fit anything is on a logi suit of bright yellow and only have a primary. Why would you make a support role suit be able to do that? I understand the concept of a combat medic but when that medic can out shine a supposed assault role, you messed up. Not on the logi but on all the other classes.
That's only just suits, let talk about vehicles, I have a heavy alt with more tank ability than my DS, LAV, or HAV. LAVs feel like cheap rip offs of Halo vehicle. The controls were perfect last build but someone decided to make them as a sensitive as fat kid talking about his weight. DS might as well be recon vehicles, give me a camera withy he brightest flash and I can do more with that. HAVs is the finger you use to poke a bear, seems cool but it's the first thing to go when the bear is pissed.
Now on to weapons! Lets start with the best according to the forums. The TAC AR, this sight is the only reason I use this gun, loom at the damage yeah it would be amazing if hit detection actually worked. Burst is lacking either damage, range, i don't know something cause it doesn't hold up compared to the other ARs. Breach would be fine if it had the same range as the basic AR but it doesn't so it is situational at best. Normal at sights, that is all that needs to be said.
HMG feels awkward for some reason but I still melt people at CQC if I can turn that is. Forge gun is about the only gun I see to be fine.
SMG has the best sight, feel, balance of any gun but it comes at a price of no range past how far you can spit. Pistol I haven't tried because hit detection is terrible and I think I have better chances of pissing on my own boots. Nova knife on a scout works, could be better but kind of want the rest of the game fixed first.
Sniper has to be speced into to be good which is how all weapons should be. Lasers are a tickle toy to everyone except the guys allergic to aka Caldari guys.
The other weapons don't need to be talked about cause I don't see any tank or DS for swarms to be used. MD are like the middle child no one cares.
If you thought last build was bad when it became blob warfare you are going to laughing while you uninstall this clusterfuck called an AAA shooter. CCP may of done 1 or 2 things right but you broke the other 10-12 things making the game somewhat viable. |

I disagree. I think that there will be the opposite of a honeymoon period. People right now find some of these changes hard to stomach because they're so used to the old build. But once you play the new build enough you'll get adjusted and more comfortable with how things work. I think that some of the changes that people currently hate,we will eventually look back and say that it was for the best. Just give it some time, I'm already starting to warm up to it with a 'second impression'. |

I am a new player with low SP and starter gear.
Without drastic changes that these 'elite" claim need to be made i am leaving the game.
So yes new players leaving after the changes is not viable.
Also if people are worried about OP "Elite" why not advocate for removing the leveling/grinding/skill point system entirely?
If you want to level the playing field then level the friggin playing field. Give everyone the same level of powers same choices regardless of how long you have played then lets see who is "elite" and who is not.
Nerfing random weapons for balance to accomplish the same thing not only does not accomplish the balance you want but breaks the game in whole new ways to be piled upon the other broken inequalities/unbalance that already exists.
Note: I have gone up against "Elite" imperfects. I do see some good game play (not elite but good team work, good aim etc)...but i have also seen terrible game play (running out into fields, not flanking, bunching up, soloing, not counter flanking etc) . I don;t know if they are relying so heavily on their SP and gear that they got lazy by letting the gear and SP carry them so they are good but are just being lazy or maybe they are not good and simply are elite because they have a gear/sp advantage. to be honest it would be nice to see imperfects come out and play with starter gear...the fact that i have never see them do that tells me that maybe they are not elite but simply relying on their gear/sp advantage to carry them. |

The development of this game is like witnessing a slow motion car wreck.
Clearly, a lot of work was put into this build and there are some wonderful improvements -- but you can't take a giant dump on core mechanics like aiming, hit detection and --oh, I don't know, walking from point A to point B without sticking to the ground. I can't even begin to give anything else fair consideration because the basics are so jacked up.

If you want a game where you don't have to invest time into your charecter then I'm sorry but New Eden isn't for you. So many people here claim they don't want a CoD clone but they also call for CCP to allow players to get all the weapons and suits in the game in just a few months. Its never going to be like that... the moment I have every skill in the game that I want is the moment Dust dies for me! All I would do is log on for PC fights and the log off because SP and ISK will not have any meaning to me. EvE has been out for 10 years now, and every resident of New Eden still has a que going even after that amount of time.

I'd have to agree.
If you look at the top left corner of the forum you'll see that DUST is part of EVE. We're playing on EVE worlds and fighting on behalf of corporations for territory control.
As much as I hear those who say this is going to die because it isn't following the cookie cutter model of the FPS genre I have to think CCP is not trying to follow the model that closely.
I trust they have something in mind... and are working towards that. |

You need risk and reward in an MMO skill trees do that perfectly. They just happen to ruin this too. I am sick of this fairness stuff. When did a game become a charity session? This game isn't meant to be fair but I want new player to be able to get where I am in SP on their own time. The only currency this game has is SP, you get the same amount every week and you save up. How is the new guy going to be able to compete? Global cap on SP is just dumb and having a cap is stupid! Let it become every WP=SP that way people start off as support players and earn their way to becoming a slayer. All that is required is different and unique ways to earn WP. Like doing your role.
As for this imperfect part of your post, when we see randoms we may sometimes use teamwork and smash them into oblivion but It gets boring doing the same thing over and over. Sometime we play around with dumb fits and try some thing new. If you think gear is what carries us you are delusional. |

I'm hopeful they come up with some type of matchmaking system or other way to separate the longer term players from the beginner players.
People in forums have often mentioned limiting the effective SP that can be brought into battle as one way of doing that ... I don't know if that could be fit into high-sec and low-sec concepts well, but it could be optional to play against the best with the most expensive gear.
Just as within EVE the "grinding" system gives you progression -- a never ending series of goals that you'd like to chase down in order to progress and improve. Sure, they may have to loosen up a few things and so on -- but there is no need to get everyone into the high end material overnight.
Beta players have been a bit spoiled in this regard... as surely CCP needed to test all the high-end gear and high-end versus low end balance issues. |

I love Dust and theres nothing out there that I would rather play. So im gonna swallow hard, cuss a lot, try not to throw my controller, and give this build the benefit of a doubt. Im gonna try to relearn all the mechanics I guess. Sometimes it doesnt seem so bad then other times it just seems whack. |

I think you are right. The current set up is not for me, but you are missing the problem....there are only so many people who play EvE who want a leveling FPS that allows old player to stomp on new players regardless of their terrible FPS skills. Furthermore this very mechanic discourages new players from ever even starting the game. Without more people playing this game i have the feeling that it won't be a game for anybody simply because it will no longer exist.
By the way there are plenty of games without leveling in them that are not CoD clones....how about a game that is a not CoD clone and not an EvE clone? Perhaps make an FPS MMO that has skills and gear that is line with rewarding FPS skills not RPG style grinding or cloning EvE's pyramid scheme of seniority. |
