So according to this topic: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=737996#post737996
The Gallente assault role bonus is: "5% reduction to hybrid weaponry PG/CPU usage / level", which means a 25% reduction in CPU/PG use at max level. However, the Amarr assault suit already comes with 50/10 more CPU/PG than the Gallente assault.
So unless there is a light hybrid weapon that costs over 200 CPU to equip (200 x .25 = 50, the base difference between the two suits), then it would appear that the Gallente suit is just plain inferior to the Amarr right now.
It seems very strange that the unique role bonus of one racial variant would be trumped by the base stats of another in the same class. (CCP oversight maybe?)
Furthermore, the Amarr suit has greater EHP, shorter shield recharge delay, greater stamina and stamina recovery. While the Gallente has 1 more low slot and slightly faster movement/sprint speed (by .2 and .3 respectively) compared to the Amarr variant. And even then, The Amarr's 200 stamina vs. the Gallente's 150 makes the Amarr faster over long distances.
So... am I missing something? Why would I pick Gallente over Amarr? (Other than 1 extra low slot and a .2/.3 difference in movement/sprint speeds)
Thoughts anyone? |

Gallente assault has 1 more low slot that the Amarr one which allows it to add one more complex armor plate, and it is faster than the Amarr assault. |

Could also fit one more complex armor repairer for greater survivability, and still keep the speed advantage. |

We're getting armour plates with no speed penalty remember? Not sure when though. |

Yup dunno why people in this game are so hung up on stats and all that ****, team work eclipses stats every time, looks are also important in a minor way as it keeps you enthused about playing your character. |

I dunno, I just thought it was lame that the unique "role" bonus of the Gallente suit is just plain worse than the base CPU/PG stats of the Amarr suit.
I mean the extra low slot is useful, but what's the point of these role specializations when the Amarr variant is better at the Gallente's own specialization? I think the Gallente's role should be changed or the Amarr CPU/PG should be cut back a bit. But this is probably too late just two days away from uprising.
Since Gallente is the armor variant it should have like 5% CPU/PG reduction to armor mods per level or something. Some kind of role that isn't trumped by another assault class already lol. |

You're forgetting the actual skill that will reduce the CPU/PG cost of said weaponry by yet another 25%, thus increasing the total to 50% off. that means you are using prototype AR's for a mere 45 CPU. (assuming they are still 90 CPU). that's rather significant.
Honestly, thats why I don't particularly think the minmatar or amarr assault bonuses are all that powerful, they have no other source of buff. If there were another skill that boosted sidearm "clip" capacity, or overheating time, then they would be more valuable. but.. ehh, who knows. |

^ Um, isn't that skill (Circuitry as well as the PG one) available to all classes and suits?
And even still, the 45 CPU that the Gallente will save at 50% off (from the Duvolle AR) is still short of the 50 CPU advantage of the Amarr . So even with the CPU reduction skill it doesn't make sense. I think CCP should re-look at this one. And I mean this as constructive criticism. Not trying to troll. |

circuitry and combat engineering are available to all suits, yes. but there are also more specific skills that reduce the CPU/PG need of their related equipment.
so you can hit it from both sides, you can increase the available PG/CPU of the suit itself, AND decrease the required CPU/PG of the modules you place on it.
gallente essentially get a third fitting skill. how much it matters is difficult to theorycraft, but unless you're filling EVERY slot with the top tier item on the amarr suit, it must matter for something on the gallente suit. |
