We explored on our own and meddled and twinked - but then we were given advice by a corp mate that really turned our game around and helped open a can of whoopass. Or perhaps advice on the forums shed light that opened up things for you. Or perhaps someone just makes you want to keep trying your best. Who was your mentor in what? Mine was Polish Hammer and Tango Callsign for in game, Polish as a heavy, Callsign for learning corp battles. On the forums Free Beers has always been my troll hero <3

For everything else I just absorbed forum info and figured it out for myself.

So I suppose the one who got my DUST game running right was Admiral Pellaeon (EVE character) for getting me to join EVE. I have however, built several Assault suits specifically tailored to some corp-mate's playstyle without ever using an Assault dropsuit or AR outside the starter gear and event rewards. It caused their average go from 1:1 (or worse) to 7:2 within a match. I always enjoy teaching newbies the tricks of the trade, so long as they have a mic, elsewise I send them off to those corps setup to get mercs started.

He represented the kinda leader I wanted to be, and become greater than. He had a large following, charisma, skill, and a goal. He's a good part of the reason why I decided to take the leader role of CEO. During his time as the leader of our Stealth division, Sodium Snake was also a mentor of mine. But from months ago to years back. I think it was Grideris, I learned different aspects of the game with their Site (DUST 514base.com and CAST 514) even before when the Mordu's Private Trials was published and further updates years back, Grideris was (still) like the most in touch with the CCP devs, and were helping me to get more knowledge about the different aspects of the game.

On the forums Free Beers has always been my troll hero <3 the Star Hawk forums, I never posted in the beta since I wanted to learn and the best way to listen is to hear, its best to hear when your not talking so I read ALL the posts each day and was an info hog, I got the info at times a few hours then a former called legendary echo and I played the beta non stop, pre-ordered the game and took what I learned to give some feedback to balance the game, then did a few other betas but not all the same as SH and DUST514 has been for me.

I had to learn almost everything on my own which was very painful but Gizmo and I think either Laz or Slap from PFBHz did clear up a few things for me with the skillpoints that were giving me a headache at that time.

Anyway, as a core FPS player I would have given up on this game and it's laughable fps mechanics long ago. They told me to slow down my pace and play it different. With almost no players, its the perfect place to practice with anything and learn the maps without worry. Heck, That's where I taught myself how to pilot a dropship, you know how much it has cost me so far? ...well I don't have exact numbers, but I'm sure its been under 2M isk, and most of it was because I crashed while training!

Years of childhood gaming was my mentor. Edit: Solid Snake and Big Boss were my mentors. Also Raiden for one game. I can also thank the Ace Combat series for my flying skills. And years of Battlefield for my ground vehicle proficiency. And a lot of RTS games for strategic/ tactical thinking or the ability to plan my moves ahead and change with the tide of battle.

Cubs mentored me through Corp matches. He believed in me when nobody else would. After all the Xero can't play he's just a glorified cheerleader Cubs took the chance and lets me play PC matches. It is because his leadership and the faith of my teammates in Team Players that gives me the boost I need to leave everything out there every match and not spare no effort. Be it good or bad game I can say I gave it my all and did not have my stats in mind only the win.

When corp mates accept me it makes the unity stronger. Hm

My original corp mates Nathaniel Sparta and DrDoktor from C A R D I N A L for sticking with this complete and utter FPS newb as he learned to aim. All the people who didn't join C A R D I N A L and keeping it to ~20 members for showing me that being a CEO and recruiting just sucks and I have no interest in it. My bro DingoDan12 who taught me to cook grenades (yep, I r newb... never claimed otherwise) Everyone who posted helpful youtube videos (CEOPyrex, Drunkenheavy, Regnum, Lowratehitman) or helpful forum posts. Observing the IMPs who rolled around using combined arms blitzkrieg tactics and proto suits to slaughter entire teams of militia folks toward the end of CBT/first few weeks of open beta. Showed me the effectiveness of a full squad in this game. Everyone in IO/EoN... try to learn something from everyone I play with. Running around the end of chromosome with Nikia pushed me to up my gun game a bit (still suck), Deadeyes showed me what a harasser can do, and guys like Lucky and Marius showed me how good logis can be.... too many others to count really have been inspirational. I'd like to thank my mom for being an angel, your mom for being a dirty ***** <3, and ... anyway, thx guys. I hear the music playing so I guess I'll just take this awar...
