I didn't have a mentor sadly, seeing that when I joined the game my ex corporation rarely touched it. I had to learn almost everything on my own which was very painful but Gizmo and I think either Laz or Slap from PFBHz did clear up a few things for me with the skillpoints that were giving me a headache at that time. |

My mentor is Anon Illuminate, he's teaching me how to work as a team and what I should spec into. Plus he's a major moral booster when he solos 5 people and wipes the floor with them. |

For me it was all the eve players. did I just say that? Anyway, as a core FPS player I would have given up on this game and it's laughable fps mechanics long ago. They told me to slow down my pace and play it different. Yeah, even some eve players knew as FPS DUST had some serious issues.
It worked. And I'm still here. Since day one. god... since day one.  |

That thing is the best for learning.
With almost no players, its the perfect place to practice with anything and learn the maps without worry.
Heck, That's where I taught myself how to pilot a dropship, you know how much it has cost me so far?
...well I don't have exact numbers, but I'm sure its been under 2M isk, and most of it was because I crashed while training!

My First Corp in this game was PRO, so no. Sadly I had no mentors.
Years of childhood gaming was my mentor.
Edit: Solid Snake and Big Boss were my mentors. Also Raiden for one game.
I can also thank the Ace Combat series for my flying skills.
And years of Battlefield for my ground vehicle proficiency.
And a lot of RTS games for strategic/ tactical thinking or the ability to plan my moves ahead and change with the tide of battle. |

never played any FPS but Golden Eye and Perfect Dark - sorta always thought FPS's were a joke. MAG and Dust seem to enjoy proving me right. :) |

Skihids for the DS Manual, completely invaluable when I was an early Pilot. My old Tank Commander back when I was Red Guard was awesome at showing me the ropes of HAV driving/fitting.
Now that I'm a Lone-Wolf Ninja I have no current uses for such advices.
