I'm eager to see if the new Gallente Sentinel will have reduction in CPU/PG to heavy weapons. If so I'll run Boundless HMG on all the tiers, heck it'll be what price in Uprising? 47k isk? Anyway, this is my band-aid to the situation. |

With all our complaints about a heavy nerf, it's amazing that CCP has not posted the exact number. I'm sure we all would like to be able to understand CCP's logic for believing the heavy suit and HMG are OP while they also believe the assault suit and AR are UP.
Give us some answers, CCP.
This is not some sort of national security issue so there's no reason to keep it a secret from the community.
We really do want to know.
I suggest the community keeps creating heavy threads until the forum is so saturated that no other discussion can be found.
It won't matter whether it's a thread about the heavy being OP or UP. |

How about you wait til you play the build to decide what you think is OP and UP? Well let's do a little comparison now? Standard SMG: 21.0 damage, 1000 ROF. Standard HMG:16 damage, 2000 ROF. A heavy weapon. That's right, a mobile installation, does less damage than a sidearm. I think that's a bit heavy on the nerf hammer. P.S. Don't even try to argue either, i have the game pulled up right now Now let's do an optimal scenario: Proto HMG Vs. Assault SMG. Boundless HMG: 17.6 Damage. 2000 ROF. 35200 DPM Assault SMG: 21.0 Damage: 1052.6 ROF. 22092 DPM Regardless of DPS. Shouldn't a FLIPPIN MINIGUN do MORE than a GODDAMN MACHINE PISTOL?!! AR Whiny babies. Like CCP "used" to like to say to you guys: Harden The Kitten Up. ........? Well, to begin with, Balance>Realism, which I believe Lance has said so himself, so your argument in invalid, but just so you know a minigun in real life USUALLY (don't hate on me for special case scenarios, I said "usually") fires 9mm bullets, the same as MOST real-life SMGs, so it would make sense that it does roughly the same damage. The smallest caliber a mini gun fires is 7.62, most certainly NOT 9mm. They go up to 30mm, which is what the GAU-8 Avenger fires. Our mini guns must be firing pellets of sand to do so little damage. GAU-8 Very interesting read if you like gun stuff. The A-10 Warthog is one of the baddest planes ever to fly. |

I have a buddy that flies A-10s. They make shot glasses out of the expended cases, to give you an idea of the size of the projectile coming out of that shell. Pretty significant.
Perhaps in the future we have run out of depleted uranium, so they decided to fill our HMG cartridges with play-doh. That would explain the pitiful damage coming out of the HMG.
Either way, I have all but stopped playing my heavy, which where the majority of my SP went. I might still use it on the old 5 point map, but thats about it.
I'm a decent player, but against an assault class of similar skill in a close engagement, I will usually win a 1v1 but just barely, and I'll be well into armor. Most of the savvy players wont run from an HMG even at close range, just aim down sights and ball-park it in the general vicinity of the heavy suit's massive head hit box. If you are using a duvolle you have a decent chance of winning, and thats against an A-series with over 1000 hp. If you lose, I'm already almost dead, so your panic-nade will usually finish me off; if not, your squad mate will finish me, then pick you up and you are both on your merry way and I'm out 100k plus on an advanced build.
So to Lian, heavies ARE pretty much terrible - right now - thats why I mostly run assault now aside from limited tactical situations. Limited use cannot justify almost twice the SP cost, and exorbitant ISK cost.
TL;DR: I think heavies are fun, but spending most of the match bleeding out is not. 10 six kins cost me almost 2 mil isk. I can be as much of a factor in a match with a type II assault and a GEK. Why bother with heavy?

Just from personel experiance of coming up against heavies in battle, i dont think they were OP at all, and the dmg and range nerf was certainly a bit of a shock tbh.
I still gaze up with nostalgia tbh of the glorious days when heavies were actually scary, though yes so much crap was broken back then. (Talking back in the early days of beta and skirmish 1.0) But i really felt they were scary as they should be, if i ran around the corner and there was a heavy i was dead, had to take them at range as an assault. But meh everyone moaned about that and then moaned again and here we are today, where an assault will run around a corner and see a heavy 10 feet from him and just unload 1 clip into him and he's dead. |

^I gotta agree with this. He has a valid point. |
