Hey guys,
I'm still recovering from flying for 25 hours (I don't know how Grideris and the other Aussies are still alive) and getting my bearings. I'm pretty much always going to be available through kain_spero on Skype, so feel free to shoot me question an let's have a conversation.
I don't have any illusions about knowing everything and it think it's vital for the CPM to consult field experts in regard to everything from specific weapons, suits, and vehicles to types of gameplay. I think the most valuable feedback will always come from the players.
You can also send me a mail in game at Kane Spero (although this gets cluttered pretty fast) and email me at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you. |

Can you possibly shed some light on what the CPM as a whole discussed, as to the future of the CPM and what they currently intend to do / should be doing?
Like, is there a clear direction you all will be taking the CPM over the course of this year, or is that all NDA type stuff? |

I miss Atlanta's airport. I lived in Macon when I was a kid and remember that thing being built up. One of my favorites as far as ease of use. I havent been to Buckhead in a long time. |

Hey I'm having an AFK event today with prizes, Are you willing to help kain?
The idea is that since there is no reward for going into battle we should just get the same progress by playing other games we make up. LAV racing in the red zone, Hot potato games with gernades, mass nanohive and droplink dropship attack in the MCC. The goal btw is to get enough people to kill the dropship with gernades before the dropship can kill you!!
I remember you saying you were interested in this, if you could help run events and gathers names so they can be entered to win I would be really grateful : D
The prize is a free merc pack btw |

I wasn't particularly fond of you being a CPM member but since your from Georgia and I'm incredibly homesick; I'm warming up to the idea of you being on the CPM.
Now on topic: Did you by chance notice the reload bug? I would imagine they would have fixed it but since it happens to me so freaking much in the current build I want to make sure it's dead. Also, lists, how much faster do they load? If there is one thing truly op in the current build it's the freaking list loading times. |

Serving as that bridge starts right here. I've already had a few people reach out to me on Skype as well. Come to me respectfully with your concerns and input and I'll be happy to listen and convey those concerns.
If I see things that I will hurt the health of the game in the long run I will do everything in my power to stop it. Non of the meta game or all of the hard work all the us as testers have put into the game matters if Dust fails.

I actually don't support AFKing, but as long as Dusters are rewarded for the behavior I don't think they should be ostracized because of it. We need a system in place that ensures people are rewarded for actually fighting on the field (or flying troops to where they need to go). Any system that rewards people for doing nothing needs to be fixed.

I didn't notice the reload bug myself in the new build, but as always report any bugs you find in the tech support forum and be as detailed as you can.

I think the Single Transferable Vote system as used in electing CSM 8 is one way to mitigate dead weight candidates. I think the CPM will need to watch how CSM 8 develops and see how STV and merit -based travel impact the quality of the council.
in the end I feel that the community and players should have their voices heard and any processes put into place ensure that everyone's vote counts and isn't tossed out on a whim. |

There are going to be 24 different proto suits, not counting any new suits they introduce in the next 5 years.each takes 5.5 million sp. That's 6 months.
Ok now, that's 144 months or 12 years to max out just the suits with no weapons or support. To put another way , 20440 hours of playing.
I've maxxed out all racial frigates , cruisers, battleships, all three weapon sizes , tech 2 frigates and logistic ships. All 4 battle cruisers and a few tech 2 mining ships and haulers. I've got every single tech 2 frigate on the market maxxed out tech 1 or 2. Even have a couple capital ship skills at 3/4.
I've been playing eve on and off for a total of 6 years.
If I play dust that long I might get one tank, 4 dropsuits, maybe 2 weapons, one fighter jet . And that's it. Why should I stick around so long and put time into dust ?
What's your opinion on this subject..... |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can make about 51K SP a day (without boosters). 5.5M/51K = about 108 days, which equals about 3.5 months.

Great.
Is it a viable option against tanks vs swarms? It just seems the swarms and forge both do a good amount more of damage and the plasma canon is short range and also does less damage. |

You are going to put the entire system of checks and balances on a single annual vote? That strikes me as incredibly naive, at best. |

There is a new feature called vehicle recall that I think will interest all drivers and pilots. I'm really pleased with some of the changes that have been made to dropships as well.
To put it simple I may actually spec into dropships myself. I had a great time flying the assault variant during the Fanfest Tournament. I still think a lot of work needs to be done to give dropship pilots the WP they deserve for filling their roles though. |

Hey Kain. Speaking of Dropships, would you happened to have looked at the control schemes? I haven't heard anyone else mention anything about it, but I'm anxiously waiting to hear if the Southpaw control scheme was re-implemented, or if the Legacy Southpaw scheme was added.
I am completely incapable of flying aircraft on Default controls, so I was grounded at the beginning of the current build when they removed the Southpaw control schemes. Despite the perceived faults of the Assault Dropships, I am still interested in trying them out, but the control scheme is absolutely necessary for me.
Thanks. ^_^ |

The SP sink created by all of the suit variations is something that needs to be looked into. I think having the suits broken down by race is good, but that needs to be balanced with SP sink it creates. |

In eve once you max out say , logistics cruisers, a huge 3 month skill, you can then apply that skill to every race of ships. 2 more weeks of training ammar cruisers and you have a new, 2nd maxxed put logistics ship to fly. Maybe that's what dust needs.
Once you max out logi, you only need to train the basic frame size of each race?

They removed having multiple prereqs. It would be better in my opinion if it was like eve. Train a racial frame size, and a specialization, if a second races frame is trained you still have the specialization.
example: caladri proto assault would need caldari medium lv 5 and assault level 5, if you then want amarr proto assault you just have to train amarr medium to lv5, if you what logi after that just train logi to get it for both amarr and caldari.
Slightly more confusing on skill tree, but by the time a player has sp for proto they should have figured it out.
I like the new skill tree in general, would just prefer two prereqs be rare rather, then never having two prereqs.
Has anybody confirmed the racial frame skills are x8?, I know the specialty skills are x10(confirmed by screenshots). The multiple being x8 for the earlier skills seems a little high at x8, won't be as bad if it turns out to be lower.
I saw a thread were they assumed the frame size skills would be the same as the current suits, I am just wondering if this spread and is assumed or is somebody has found the actual number already. |

You are going to put the entire system of checks and balances on a single annual vote? That strikes me as incredibly naive, at best.
Are you addressing this concern? What rules of conduct will we judge the CPM by if the only accountability is a yearly vote? |

To be honest noc, I was with you about a yearly vote, but then I asked "what can they get done in 6 months?" how many CSM meetings is that?
from engaging the community to CCP invoking those desired changes, I think it would take months alone to do 1-2 changes.
There's also setting up and getting settled into the CSM, it can be a daunting experience for any new CPM member and we can't assume they will settle in without hiccups.
You can't setup a new government in a day and none of the CPM rules, regulations, procedures etc have been streamlined, it's going to be cumbersome, awkward, time consuming and a pain in the ass trying to make **** happen while keeping the belligerent away.
Even if we think the decision they make is good or bat, only experience will tell us if it works or not, so going up against them before they've actually done anything is wholly counter productive.
My question to Kain is:
You've put your contact details on the forums, why? they will get lost in the sea of posts, never to be seen again. Ask CCP to give the CPM a dedicated page or arrange for somewhere we can easily find your data. Posting threads on the forums is just horn blowing. It's unstructured, hard to process and should only be used for recorded communication, not logging. |

How ****** are we in uprising? There is a new feature called vehicle recall that I think will interest all drivers and pilots. I'm really pleased with some of the changes that have been made to dropships as well. To put it simple I may actually spec into dropships myself. I had a great time flying the assault variant during the Fanfest Tournament. I still think a lot of work needs to be done to give dropship pilots the WP they deserve for filling their roles though.

I completely agree. A section of the forums specifically for the CPM and for players to bring concerns to the CPM would be fantastic. Instead of Jita Park the Caldari Prime DMZ or something. |

I'll be honest. I don't play the vehicle role in Dust very often and I think that the concerns of pilots and drivers alike should be addressed. I put many many hours into tank driving in BF2 and BF3. While that gives me perspective to point on a fraction of that knowledge translates into Dust.
I would really like to have regular talks with the vehicle community (Mavado, Noc, Ragewardog, and many others). if you guys don't have good reasons for getting in your tanks and dropships then I end up not having targets. That is a lose/lose situation. As an AV player you guys showing up and providing a challenge is one of the major things that gives me a purpose in Dust. |

Thanks. ^_^
Just restating this because it was probably just missed. Any confirmation about Southpaw schemes would be appreciated. |

You should make a chat channel and invite some tankers to it to chat about ideas and improvements. it would also be nice to have a few dedicated AV users in there aswell to hear both sides of the story |

I remember seeing various control schemes for infantry, but I honestly can't remember of the top of my head in regards to dropships. I ended up flying the assault dropship using default controls on the DS3. |

Alright, thank you. Glad to hear that. I'm certain if they have added additional to infantry, I can't imagine the same wouldn't have been done to infantry. Well, as long as they were able to fix that bug with Module uses and descending.
Thanks again. |

How do you feel about CCP monetizing SP instead of the "time, convenience, and cosmetic" only promise?
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=71470&find=unread
And don't you dare use the "player trading" excuse because the game is launching this month and even if it is in the next patch, that's 6 more months away. |

I will say that I don't think player trading is an excuse, I think that player trading is VITAL to transitioning the game into a successful "pay to grind less" model. In my opinion player trading being pushed to 6 months down the line is unacceptable, but back to the issue of monetizing SP.
Some may feel that the SP issue has been largely settled by moving to the weekly cap, but I think this is far from correct. I know there are many out there that are much more attuned to traditional FPS games and see the current soft cap as nothing more than keeping players from competing and advancing their characters the way that they want.
Take that issue and throw in potential SP sinks by creating racial suit differences with deep SP costs, unacceptably high monthly prices points for boosting both passive and active SP even for loyal customers, and I think you end up with a situation where players feel that they are being gouged and exploited. I would say rightly so. I think CCP monetizing SP is fine, BUT is must be done at a reasonable price point and in a equitable way. Personally, I hope the version of the Omega Booster that gave the user x2 passive and active SP never sees the light of day in that form. I have some thoughts on how to address this, but I feel that is something that is deserving of it's own thread and discussion. I haven't had a chance to go through the ideas put forward in "Paying yet Grinding Anyway - Discussing Boosters", but I would like to review the discussion taking place there as well.
As always please feel free to reach out to me on Skype at Kain_Spero as this is probably one of the best ways to get in touch with me. |
