I like the turrets on my dropship, but I see no harm in allowing it to be optional. I have a pretty nicely tanked Proto Gallente that uses them, I've got a bomber. I was thinking if it was optional, I was have TOTAL TANK in a standard or some such. |

I would love to see the ability to remove turrets off vehicles (IE not make them mandatory to mount). To me this represents a closer representation to EVE gameplay as you can really change up how you fit your ship. You don't HAVE to put weapons or in fact anything in your high slots in EVE, and you could fit a complete EWAR platform with your mids and lows if you wish.
All that said, we can really come up with some off the wall fittings for vehicles if we don't make turrets mandatory. If someone wishes to make an HAV that's just 2 small turrets and a super heavily armoured transport/mobile CRU, then why stop them? They make the sacrifice of the heavy firepower that an HAV can bring to the fight in favour of team deployment and staying power. Seems like a fair trade.
I hope this does get seriously considered. |

Also helps to encourage blueberries to GTFO near the objective rather than shooting the NULL cannon because there's hit detection on it. |

Definitely agreed here. I would likely remove the forward turret from my HAV to try and get a little better use out of modules I have control over. I don't want 100PG worth of usefulness to be dictated solely by if the person riding in my HAV is a good shot (let alone there even BEING a person riding in my HAV) |

I dunno if this is being proposed because the current metagame with small turrets = they suck damage-wise for varying reasons, nobody wants to be a gunner because they suck, so I don't want them on my vehicle.
Turning HAVs into APCs or what-not is kind of....strange. I mean HAVs look like tanks. They should behave like tanks. A separate land transport vehicle might be a better way of implementing it. But then dropship pilots would complain that they don't have a niche any longer.
Can understand that vehicles in general, especially HAVs are PG starved so y'all are just trying to squeeze more out of those stats. |

I agree. I seriously dislike the idea of being obligated to fit guns on my dropships which will probably high above kill range so I have a mobile MCC for my team, Where they spawn and drop down to objectives

I dig this. Removing the turret for the LAVs sounds good because:
a) You are probably freeing up to like 100 PG. That should allow LLAVs to run mobile CRUs, although what I think they run out of is CPU. Perhaps modules that swap large amounts of CPU for PG?
b) Say you trade the turret for an extra seat (Like, having the ability to have two guys sit in the trunk instead of just one in the turret.). Combined with point a), this makes for a great, speedy way of transporting personnel.
c)Face it. You seldom hit anything with the turret on an LAV. It goes too fast, and the tracking speed is too low. The guys who do murder taxis just want to make their cars cheaper/tougher.

I'm sure LAVs would love this, don't need a turret when you only run people over so why not throw a little extra armor on the thing? LAVs have it too good as it is, I'd rather there be a reason to use the turret.
For dropships I love this idea. Remove turrets and add in armor plating that covers the hole. Put turrets only on one side and keep some extra defense on the other side, solid idea leading to great customization. Man just thinking about this sounds awesome because DShip turrets rock if the whole ship isn't being obliterated in one shot.
Tanks I'm not really sure, do I want them having only a main turret and more health? Like the APC idea but that should be replaced by the MAV. |
