But Dust probably need another 12 months time or more to launch, and by that time PS4 has already came out, Destiny adverts will keep people waiting, and nobody is gonna pay attention to dust. |

Dust is just a gimmicky FPS that will probably survive by leaching a small amount of loyal player base for a very long time. But it probably won't become mainstream in any sort of way. Many of us are well aware of CCP's history. Many of use are also aware of the history of those "proper" games' developers. - Bungie- WTF was Myth III farmed out?! What happened with the promised awesome of ONI? Why did the "AAA" shooter Halo have so many issues as an MMOFPS? - EA- 'Nuff said about them - Ad nauseum. Game companies, like most companies, disappoint. What is remarkable is that CCP manages to do so much with so little. The graphics shown for Uprising really push the boundaries of the PS3's abysmal hardware limitations. Everyone knows that they are also "secretly" making sure that things like art assets are ready for Unreal Engine 4 and PS4 deployment. So, really what it comes down to is that Bungie likely heard rumblings of EVE getting a persistent-world FPS when it was first floated years ago and said, "Hey, we could do that!". The difference is that CCP is already doing it and Destiny can't do crap for real players until the PS4 comes out.

AAA has come to mean more about quality than size of the developer.
Take Star Citizen and Shroud of the Avatar for example. Both are widely being considered AAA games based on the previous work of their lead designers (and development screenshots, etc.) even though both are being made by small, crowdfunded corps. |

You need to get your eyes checked.
You need to understand rendering load. Opening up the terrain alone is scary, scary, terrifying load on the GPU. Think about how many extra polygons have to be loaded, tracked, textured, shaded, raytraced, filtered, etc. in real time.
My dupa is overheating just trying to imagine it. I need a cooling fan back there.
Add on top of that the massive improvements in general look-and-feel and I stand by my original statement.
Just because some other game looks prettier in its fishbowl doesn't mean that that games' devs pushed the limits of the hardware.

The game will NEVER get out of beta. Hoping the game luanches on ps4 cause lets b e honest ccp can do way more things on ps4 I'd prefer being able to play on either and then slowly transition all the way to the ps4. Changing instantly will cut off a lot of players
This, also there is 70 million or so PS3 and zero PS4 SK the install base is huge. They can give us some candy in the PS3 and the try to hook us on the 4 with better everything. |

Right now Dust is not a AAA shooter. It doesnt have the polish in the current build for it. It could be very close to it with Uprising depending on the mechanics and game-play.
From what everyone has said, the big question is whether it can become one in time for people to care. The EVE folks may continue to hold on and play but they really need the FPS nomads to take root for it to be successful.
It might have all the bells and whistles of a MMO with the sandbox and all but its core is a FPS and a ton of people were brought here because of that. You cant build a skyscraper on a junk foundation. |

The history of EVE is full of unfinished ideas. There is simply too many of them. One example would be "walking in station". Several years ago they started the project, and then worked very slowly. They finally settled with a character creation, a room to walk in, and nothing else. The way CCP works: inject hopes and dreams into the player, do a little bit to keep them hooked over a long period of time, and then never finish the idea and leave the player "hoping for more". CCP essentially tell lies to make money. This is an essential part of their business model and they simply don't have the right people to launch an "AAA" title. I mean look at proper PS4 titles here. These are what REAL games look like. Dust is just a gimmicky FPS that will probably survive by leaching a small amount of loyal player base for a very long time. But it probably won't become mainstream in any sort of way.

DUST is great simply because its CCP's first game in the fps genre that will continually improve over the years, more so with the uprising build, lets not forget that.
Destiny will be great because its already expected to be when made by a well known studio. |

Sorry, I meant that in the sense of Why The *kitten* was it farmed out. I suppose I should've been clear.
I guess I've just been very disappointed in Bungie ever since they got big investors. |

I have thought that if major game makers could control huge gaming news outlets like IGN, or possibly employ people who happen to play Dust 514 and be whiney and vocal about their disatisfaction they could really cripple people's opinion especially on an MMORPG.
I'm not accusing anyone of this I'm just tossing the grenade out there for "us all to discuss as to the validity of this statement".
Basically, just think for yourselves. Are you having fun playing the game? If not, don't just *****, say precisely what the problem is and try and help make it better. |
