The prone position.
The MOST STABLE SHOOTING POSITION OF ALL!!!
And it allows you to ACTUALLY HIDE from the enemy, by presenting JUST the upper half of your head and shoulders and the front of your rifle.
PLEASE let us go into the prone position.
PLEASE!!! |

As someone who has used large SAW style weapons, i would say you could still do prone, but with some kind of bipod or tripod. just really no movement or range of aim. it wouldnt really be an effective shield, youd be a sitting duck. |

Your request for Prone Position is.... GRANTED!!
Right after we fix Hit Detection. lol...
As it stands now, hit detection is so inaccurate and glitchy on the terrain, that someone could become almost invulnerable to attack (snipers in particular). If prone is introduced now, that problem could be made worse. |

Yeah, I agree with you but... I would still like it put on the books as a future fix. |

Well I know the SAW is a rather small weapon compared to say, the 240 and the M2.
But the giant spinning barrel death spitting Gatling gun that I see some folks carrying around these days is huge... like a multi-barreled M2 in size.
The thing is huge and it would need a tripod with a gimbal mount (like a TOW or the old DRAGON Missile) to even be fired effectively.
Going prone with it could be accomplished but, if you carry something big and powerful, then there is going to be a natural size to prone hindrance of some kind when it comes to trying to shoot stuff from cover. |

Fix the Hit Box Detection on all suits. Then drop the silly idea about using a tinker toy sniper rifle as a shield. At most it might block 25% of the available area to hit and not the head which is what most aim at anyway. Remember this is a Video Game where shooting someone in the foot can kill them.
Then go prone so we can drive over you with LAVs. Line them up, squish them all.
Oh! Make their butts stick up higher than their heads! One Shot Butt Kills, FTW! |

Why do we need prone? When you are kneeling/crouching you already basically have 100% accuracy with no sway. The only thing to gain from this is an even smaller profile to shoot back at. Stop trying to be the sniper everyone hates, camped on top of the mountain with only the tiniest fraction of anything visibile because you can't counter snipe. |

+1 as long as they slow the animation down dropshotting wont be effective. the way their animations work you cant do two things anyway. you wouldnt be able to shoot and rise or go down simultaneously. |

I'm OK with prone with a few caveats: Animation: Going into prone is animated and you can't really fire while doing such. Each suit goes prone at a certain speed: Scout > Logi > Assault > Heavy. Suits are also animated while standing from prone, and it takes a bit longer to get up than it does to get down *disco music plays*
Prone movement is awkward, moving the reticle around a bunch. Also, can't move while scoped.
Prone scope operation is awkward (moves very slowly left to right, and kind of slowly up and down)
I also know that from a movement standpoint prone seems like a programming nightmare. |

I whole heartedly agree that we should have the prone position..... unless ccp wants to create an explanation through lore why clones can only kneel but not lay down......and I mean come on, its a basic tactic in any fire fight... its a bit unrealistic not to include it. Yea if prone was introduced. (WHICH IT SHOULD BE!!!). heavy's probably wouldn't be able to. I feel Dust is super lacking in that aspect. CCP we could lay down in M.A.G. and with all the cameo's and shout outs to M.A.G. throughout dust. Maybe one day I could go prone? and lay a claymore. ;o] |

Going prone is definitely a must. Make it so going prone offers instant stability to snipers, too. But I think they should have to crouch to move around. |

I agree at least as it is now since there is not a single heavy weapon currently in the game that could be reasonably used while prone. Also, with how bulky the heavies are, their prone would probably just be a sort of "Siege Mode" in DUST where they would kneel on one knee, and maybe get a bonus to recoil, bullet spread(HMG), and perhaps a slight buff to defenses(either base, recharge, or maybe both), but as a side-effect, they wouldn't be able to move while using it and maybe have a recharge timer before being able to use it again.
Overall, I agree that there is no reason for DUST 514 not to have a prone function, which I think would be a nice to feature to have in the nearish future. |

I've said it before in another Pro-prone thread.
If we get prone, we should be able to kick heavies over on their backs (like turtles) and use them for cover. |

I'm interested in a member of CPM 0's opinion on this matter further than a simple:
Care to elaborate for your constituency? Would you still have a problem with prone if it took time to get down/get back up?
Personally, I do want to see prone included, though I want it included in such a fashion that would prevent things like dropshotting and dolphin diving. |

Nope.
Bad Company 2 was a fantastic game, and it had no prone. It also had very little camping.
Cut to BF3 and suddenly everyone hides in a bush. Prone did nothing for that game, and it'd do nothing for this one. |

Pansy snipers want easy mode easier, but to disallow heavies from having the same advantage. Does anyone else besides me not see how idiotic this request has become? Make already hard to detect snipers even harder to see/hit, while the lay prone with zero sway for infinite after the intial. Dont let other classes have the same thing because they would use this abilty to hide from snipers. |
