Dropships are REALLY fun to drive and all, but at the moment they don't really have any practical purpose. I think I am still yet to get a WP with one
Are they getting any attention next build? Like those points for objectives captured, or maybe even the fabled "eject passengers" button? (or at least some flares to keep those darn swarm missles off me? :P)
Does anyone know? and are their any official patch notes for Uprising where I can check for myself? Thanks! |

They are not useless, but they are useless against a team with even rudimentary AV capabilities. I've managed to have several games where I've gotten over 20 kills just gunning from a dropship and taken first and second with the pilot. |

They don't need the Devs' love. They need your love. They're quite effective when put to the purpose they were designed for: troop transport and covering fire while the mercs you unloaded recover from their landing. They are not gunships. They are not fighters. Stop forcing them into that role. Its painful to watch. If you have a CRU fitted, take your mercs to a half-way decent LZ so they can take an objective. If you need to get the point across, land. Most of us don't want to be sitting ducks and will get out on our own accord at that point.
Just my two cents. Not sure what its worth, but there it is.
Edit: After reading another thread regarding dropships, I realize not all mercs have any sense. This is one that will get out if you take me to an objective. |

Like DigiOps said, they're actually only underpowered because they're really only needed/good for large battles/maps. However it goes without saying that some features and points need to be inspected. |

funny, have you specked into DS latley 0! 0! 0! WP for that idea that clearly came from an infrantry that can`t even call in a starter fit LAV, btw the 0 had zero exageration, also I got 18 rep lock ons from a DS to tank today (he wasn`t really moving...but made a total of 21 lock ons now) yet no SP for that, going in as a gunship since its fun and the only way to gain SP as of now? only vehicle kill assists, your better of in a tank, and the DS is a team role so it doesn`t go fo KDR (if it does a good job then they EARNED IT) it goes around doing work for their team and should be gaining a little more SP then a logi bro! if CCP wants stats on how the DS is being used we pilots use 40%ISH for transport (most of that is campers on rooftops) 40% gunships (experienced pilots trying to gain what ever SP they can) and 20% other (triaging is the main group of that) note thosoe all are ISHES, as in 'giver ah take', if CCP wants them to be used the way they are soppused to then tell us their will be or is a balance or they will do it, heres there easy simple and logical (for both haves) statments:
we are working to balance DropShips out. (they can +1 and say not in this build)
we are soon to announce something. (maybe they were hinting at fanfest but that wasn`t a public messege).
we don`t plan on 'balancing' the DS.
the DS is balanced in the troop transport condition but the WP is based off of distance/time from pick up to deploy and we saw no point to adding ti sooner.

Well you won't find it on anyone's PC apart from mine, I just logged into sisi and took a screenshot to show people just how substantial the evidence for Assault Dropships is. Finding something through datamining and having something on the in game marketplace are quite different, in terms of how likely it is that we'll be getting it |

Assault Dropships might still be enough of a work in progress to not show up on Uprising's release. I'm expecting otherwise based on hints dropped during the AMA as well as a few vague mentions here and there, but it's not confirmed.
And there was a pic posted at least a week ago that showed info on Assault Dropships, so you're definitely not the only one with pics. |

If assault dropships are any less resilient than current dropships you might as well just call in a LAV. At which point you might as well just shoot yourself in the face with a forge gun.
If they were to ratchet up the tankiness of normal DS and place assault exactly where regular ones are currently AND/OR reconsidered having AV be so ridiculously powerful then they might be alright. |

I'm posting here simply because I've never participated in the forums until now and I'm not sure where else to post this.
Why aren't there any points awarded to dropship pilots that have mobile cru?
Why aren't there any points awarded for hacking vehicles?
Hypothetically, with the current build, I could hack a nice enemy dropship (which i actually did the other day, caught him by surprise as he was calling it in), spawn my whole team through it to capture objectives or whatever, and could ultimately win a match like that without being rewarded any points whatsoever. That doesn't seem very fair, especially to those that have chosen to specialize in dropships.
Does anyone know if these issues will be addressed May 6th? If ever? |

Dropship pilots in the current build should earn WP for all sorts of things they're not getting anything, maybe even including just for spending time in the air, like x WP per second. You know, for drawing enemy AV attacks, and all that. |

A year now of flying dropships and being rewarded with nothing but amusement and frustration is trying on my nerves, to say the least.

its not just a transport though, I agree but it needs triage points aswell. |
