Spending 150K on a militia level dropship only to instantly crash it, have it shot down, flip it upside down and run it into the ground, or have some fool steal it has gotten old. It would be nice to have a nice training area so one could learn how to fly these things. It's not the easiest or most intuitive thing in the world.
And I don't need the "Harden Up" or "That's the way it is in New Eden" speech from the EVE geeks in the crowd either. What I and likeminded others will do is take our interests, and my money and support, elsewhere if a game's mechanics are too annoying and the developers are too full of themselves and their creation to change. |

I disagree.. Thats why we have Militia Gear. Putting your system/idea into effect would eliminate the risk factor. I think suffering builds character and skill. All I can say to new players is TUFF thats how EVE and DUST 514 work, Don't like? Don't play. :) |

What builds character and skill is effort rewarded and the opportunity to engage in learning. It is a childs mind that thinks suffering builds character. Suffering causes distress and disappointment.
We should reward those who make an effort to learn, or demonstrate a willingness to try; not punish or frustrate them. There is no valid argument against providing an environment where players can learn how the game functions. This is an industry standard, one EVE shares. This is because games need to be more enjoyable than not and as consumer products meet or exceed the customers satisfaction with them.
A game that has high cost items some purchased with real money needs to show you how they work. This is fair.

My kids were using the TV last night so I got on my computer and was playing a little Planetside 2, their VR Training site is really awesome actually. I spent a couple hours flying around and bombing NPC targets, and you can even dogfight with other players, though you can't hurt them.
That was a really nice experience. Looking at that and then what Dust has, I find that something like this needs to be implemented quick. |

Well CCP has mentioned AI / NPC targets that easily appears as a co-op mode but idk how it fits in the game so I guess its an off EVE, maybe a place where you can play for fun and learn how do use your gear
Anyways though, join the: better hide r die public chatroom and next time we are both on I`ll teach you how to fly via mic and I`ll supply the Dropships, once you get good I`ll get you the Dropships I use that range from 700k-1 mill ISK and you can see if piloting is worth investing in (well, in the long run when pilots get the deserved ammount of SP). |

the idea behind it is to create corporation alts that make a 2nd corp, like i would use my alt Shouper 2273 to creat [BHD2] and have some of my fellow clan mates do the same and join [BHD2], once that is done we just do a [BHD] vs [BHD2] and its good practice, as for setting it up I could explain it but their are videos that will give a better example on how to creat them, I`ll try to get you a link.... (it will appear in an EDIT to this messege).... |

What I and likeminded others will do is take our interests, and my money and support, elsewhere if a game's mechanics are too annoying and the developers are too full of themselves and their creation to change. Secondly, I was talking about Militia Gear. A dropship costs 150K each. For those of you who are veterans of both EVE and have been with Dust since the Summer of 2012, I'm sure that is a drop in the bucket. For newer players, or those who have yet to discover the game, that is or will be a bit steep. Especially considering a player has no idea what they are doing when they first jump into the pilot seat of one of these things and continually crash over and over. Boom, there goes a million ISK in a matter of minutes.
Short-sighted fanboys like yourself who are full of false bravado on forum boards fail to see beyond the bridge of your nose. This sort of hard ass, "take it or leave" attitude may work sometimes in the realm of the PC, but that attitude just won't fly on a console. (Punny, no?)
The purpose of this game, like any REAL business venture, is to earn profits, so CCP can appease its investors, pay its employees and grow as a successful company. The longer one plays this game, earns SP and ISK, the less they will purchase AUR and generate revenue. To maintain that profit stream, new players are simply a must. To spit in their faces is suicidal, the end result being the ultimate failure of the Dust 514 brand and the closing of shop. A mere training ground to learn some mechanics of the game's playstyle is not a universe altering request, it is simply a desire to learn how to play the dam game.
Lastly, I do not enjoy most FPSs, especially the Call of Duty or Battlefield variety. Yet another mis-diagnosis among many of your simple-minded ilk. |

I agree with you whole heartedly. I was playing Planetside 2 in the training area and crashed about 8 Reavers in about 4 minutes trying to get my mouse sensitivity correct and thinking about using keyboard instead of mouse and switching back. Then I lost another 4 trying to fly under overpasses then I lost another 5 dogfigthing and crashing. I'd say I finished losing about 20 of them before I got the hang of it. (Yea thats bad, but normally I don't play flight sims)
so in about 4 hours I would have blown about 3 million isk. Thats a pretty big chunk for any newbies.

I can see another way out of this... Let us receive a militia dropship blueprint. Like the one everybody has for a LAV...
Until then just do two ambushes in starter fit to earn isk for one Gorgon or Viper. It takes half an hour. Then you can play skirmish to train slow flying in your red zone near the blue mcc... I know it will be gone in a matter of seconds. I play ambush until my Gorgon stock reaches 4-5 vehicles. It is less frustraiting if you can call in another dropship to continue learning. Just try to forget all this burned ISK and focus on learning. There is thread on dropship flying in Rookie Training. |

I don't think that would be such a great idea, as there would be countless tall building snipers and other such hi jinks. Also, I can fit a militia dropship pretty well and used to fly them exclusively. The BPO would be easily over-powered. |

Although that might end Dust for heavies. My fatty suit gets winded walking to the refrigerator. Maybe a free Golf Cart BPO instead with no gun, a safety bumper that can't run people over, and a squeaky horn.
Moving back on topic I have always been in support of an empty map mode for people to get the feel for vehicles and weapons. It's downright ret@rded how many dropships I have killed with my assault forge in the enemies redline while taking the enemies rear hack point. |

hes talking about militia fits, more specificly the cost for a newb trying to learn how to fly., my Myron costs like 700k and my Eahyx is a mill so yea, I`m not happer either when I crash in a ship thats expensive and has little to no rewards beside being very fun. |
