No escape clause in the loop. The only thing that mattered was the brother-in-arms at my side and the paycheck for my retirement fund.

They signed the treaty with the Jove because they feared the Jove more and the Jove were willing to sign because they had nothing to lose...you weren't strong enough to do anything on your own...and it's debatible if you're strong enough to do anything now...
