I've read in a couple posts now that getting ISK isn't the problem. I don't see how this is the case, especially when people start using proto suits and meta 5 gear. I typically use mostly meta 3 gear on my fits, and am only slightly isk positive. Unless there is something I'm missing, wouldn't 2 deaths without being picked up by a medic turn the a proto/meta 5 match into negative ISK territory?
Any thoughts? |

Create fits in the 20-30k range, dont die more than 5 times... positive ISK
Its simple math really

I usually keep money by sniping with just a basic kit with some damage enchancers and a sniper rifle with nothing else. Or I'll put on a newb suit with a laser rifle, which is basically still sniping.
So yea, sniping. die less, make more. |

If you're capable of dying only once, maybe twice, you'll be isk positive using proto gear. If you die more than that, then you shouldn't be using proto gear for pubs. (at least not often)
Just spend the majority of your time using either militia or standard level gear. You'll generally be isk positive that way.
The high-end gear isn't meant to be a permanent advantage unless your really good. (good enough to rarely die)
A lot of people even use lower-end gear, not because they wouldn't be isk positive otherwise, but because they choose to bank a lot of isk. (this way its a non-factor when in corp matches or in pubs facing large groups of good players using high-end gear) |

Use cheap or starter fits I use a cheap logi-suit for most battles and I consistantly go ISK positive. I am not too fussed about KDR being a logi, but I usually go positive and even if I dont a good logi is a wp goldmine and the higher you finish the more ISK you get. Dont just go for kills go for anything thhat gives you wp I have finished first in a battle before on 10/10ish but gone about 2700wp so I finished first and got about 320k ISK ish and seen as my suits cost about 10k thats about 220k profit. |

I am running B series atm so I can be reckless and have fun with the game. I will be proto in a few days and I just plan to change my playstyle a bit so that I never die. Right now I play the game like an attack dog always sprinting and shooting nerds in the face.

I honestly don't know how I manage it. I die way more often than is financially viable, but somehow I manage to bounce around a million isk.
All of my fits have an expensive & cheap version, perhaps I'm wise enough to know when to switch between them, but it sure doesn't feel that way. |

Remaining ISK positive just requires putting away the fancy toys after you lose them. No, you cant lose two protos in a game and get money, but you CAN lose one, maybe 2-3 mid level fits and then a bunch of low level stuff and break even. Since my skills arent high yet I cant use expensive gear (most expensive item i carry is the guage uplink) but even I pull back financially after I lose a heavy or said guage uplink or two. |

Know when to be aggressive and when to be conservative. Count what your suits costs, set standards for how many times you are willing to die in those suits. Hop in some else's tank for a little while. Where the packs of red dots are going in a losing match go the opposite way and make survival more of a priority than objectives. Learn to hide. And be patient. On a winning match, don't always redline as getting more kills is fun, but being sniped one or two times might cost you that profit margin.

Spend your SP on skills that grant passive improvements, rather than on ones that unlock new gear. You can get almost as much mileage out of T1 gear with good skills as with proto gear and no skills other than the unlock. |

Use good gear and dont die..... Or, use very cheap gear and dont die.....
My b-series fit (good gear) has about 670 total Hp but costs 60k isk per life. If i dont die with it, i have the potential of making a ton of money per round.
My raven assault type 1 suit (cheap fit) has roughly 500 total Hp and only costs 9k - 15k (depending on weather i use the exile or LR). Granted, i use a lot of BPO's on it so if you replaced them with isk varients it would cost close to 15k - 20k per suit, but thats still pretty good for a suit with 500 hp. (lol its armor tanked as well).
Really it comes down to just not dying. The best way i can describe it is to play as a *****. If your not fighting to hold an objective, then there shouldn't be any problem with running away. If your in a three on one situation, kill what you can but run as soon as your start taking damage. Turn the fight into a defensive fight (on your side) and you will almost always win. Playing defensively isn't always as rewarding as playing offensively, but the payouts are much more consistant. |

I rarely die so I have 70m banked with 100 of my type 2 suits and 100 suits for corp matches that cost 170k each. |

I get paid by numerous of corps out there in millions to Infiltrate, Spy, Sabotage or Disband other Corps or Rivals.
It's a good job, pays the bills, it's hard making friends though and life is a constant struggle of juggling different identities and roles. The last Corp i infiltrated I ended up falling in love with a mercenary that I would eventually have to hold hostage and kill as ordered by my client. I'll never forget her face and the last word she said to me before she died. |

i run assault-II in skirmish to save isk for Bsuits/protoMD, run assault-B in ambush since kills matter in ambush, skirmish i make isk with cheap fit and i dont care about the kdr since it's not recorded ambush i make more isk with expensive fit that survives well plus i practiced in skirmish with a lesser fit before playing ambush with best fit

The more expensive gear you kill the better your payout. :) What I want to know is why I don't get better payouts for SAVING said expensive suits as a Logi. I'm not in the business of destroying, unless you walk in front of my Mass Driver while I'm trying to revive and repair my team...
To the OP, use the free fits until you get a good feel for your role in combat. Only use your good fits if you have a good team behind you. Competent team = less deaths. Less deaths = more time to go pewpewpew! If you're on a crappy team (which I swear is at an all time high with the "matchmaking") try out some new weapons and fittings! |
