Damn it, we needed a full set of racial suits before doing this. Or at least the Caldari and Gallente ones. Still, I might get back on if CCP is really ramping things up. |

Where the idea is cool and i appreciate the events that are going live...
Im still stuck in the "Why do I care exactly?" mode after playing a merc game to get free stuff.
And the answer is basically that I dont care. Because I cant pick sides, Im just randomly assigned to a team. What if i happen to have a personal grudge against the Caldari? why am I helping them? (considering the Gallente would pay me just as much and its unprofessional to throw a match)
I know its coming (and im looking forward to it), but until then the events are simply cool in theory, and i certainly appreciate free stuff that can sit in some storage locker somewhere.. but for the most part ill just go and play normal games instead.

Have fun all, hope it turns out to be a cool event, I'm looking forward to read more as it goes as I am unable to participate myself.

No! just one day... same ambush, skirmish with tiny map changes like (moved CRU 20 meters south, hey look we have new map!), still can't chose side, or help from orbit on Caldari Prime... but it will be epic historical event!??? or rather not.

Bah, cheap stuff CCP... i mean such historical event and i want at least to fight for Gallente side, instead i will be "randomly" forced to play for Caldari side... lol wtf?
To my understanding, in the past, it has been like this. But has there been any confirmation where you'll be forced upon a side in this historical event? |

If the FORCED TO FIGHT FOR A SIDE is true, CCP, do us ALL favor and update the servers to allow us to choose a side before joining the server. if one side becomes full then we'll move onto the next server. Or better yet, with match making, ask us for which side we wish to fight for and then pit us together appropriately, THANKS. |

one would hope that for such an historical event, it would span an entire week, allowing all who play dust to take part of which have (heaven forbid) real life commitments on a friday and weekend in all time zones.
It is not as if something like this would be.. okay peeps of caldari prime, we are going to throw you down there to shoot each other for 12 hours and then those who have done so get a drop suit for altering their life.
In terms of the last event I was part of for the black eagle drop suit - those of us in New Zealand had a window between 3am on saturday morning to 11am give or take - which for those with no life or dependent children is not prime time so i guess it is fine but man did I take **** for participating.
Just consider ALL the people spending "their" time playing your currently free game and very beta game of which passively are giving you performance metrics and real live information to base your decisions moving forward on and then reward those people for that time by allowing EVERYONE to participate in pre-release special events which shape the game for the future.
Just a thought.

With current game build (possibilities) it is impossible to make it (choose sides) for such mass event. So when you chose battle in merc tab, it randomly throws you for one or another side, and you randomly may play like 4-6 times in a row for Caldari or Gallente.
And galletians have only light assault dropsuits ("scouts") :))) it's a discrimination! |

Little bit of history
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXWf-l71MY4
Caldari Prime was invaded by the Gallente more than a hundred years ago, and 5 years ago the Caldari got it back and put a Titan to watch over it.
Today, we have civil unrest, we have our fights to desestabilize the Caldari on the planet, and it seems things are escalating quickly and we-¦ll have a huge fight with all the parties that have an interest on the planet.
As a Minmatar, i know what is like to have your home taken away from you, and i will do whatever it takes so that people don-¦t have to suffer it a second time.
Me and my friends, fellow mercs and capsuleers, are going to help the Caldari to maintain their rightfully control of their homeplanet.
Let-¦s hope we don-¦t get another sacrifice like the one Admiral Yakiya Tovil-Toba did to secure the safety of his population, for should a supercarrier or a titan do something to the planet, there will be no planet left do something about. |

You do realize that the gallente and minmatar are allies... right?
Also Caldari prime was a part of the gallente federation. So were the caldari. They seceded and are now genrally pains in the ass...

I wish to help the Caldari maintain control of their homeworld. I think it is very unclear how I should fight to promote this goal.
(OOC the fact that the "events" are just titled random pubs where you can't even pick sides is the reason they are incredibly lackluster) |

You do realize that just because they are allies, doesn-¦t mean everything they do is right and we have to agree... right ?
Tibus Heth revigorated the State when it was eroding due to corrupt innefective CEO-¦s. He took back Caldari Prime, he gave sense and purpose to his people, just like Shakor is doing to ours.
Caldari prime belongs to the Caldari people. They may welcome others, but the planet belongs to them. |

Not exactly. The Caldari people were duped by the megacorporations into surrendering their place in the Federation so that their rich oligarchs could keep getting richer.
The Gallente gave the Caldari space technology (as they also did with the Intaki, Mannar, and Jin Mei). The Caldari megacorps chose to abuse that gift in secret and then threw a fit when the Federation that they supposedly supported tried to get them to act responsibly.
The "invasion" of Caldari Prime was undertaken to protect civilians after Caldari rebels killed nearly a million people by flooding an underwater city.
The Federation did not start the outbreak of violence. That was all the doing of Caldari extremists. |

There is plenty of room for the Caldari Will, just not for rich oligarchs who rewrite the laws to suit themselves and then threaten violence when somebody stands up to them.
The Caldari are a strong, proud, and capable people. They do deserve a peaceful homeworld in Luminaire.
Unfortunately, the Caldari State will never allow that to happen. It is too much in the interests of the megacorp CEOs to keep us all at war. The State was born to permit them free reign to oppress their own people, and they will lie, cheat, and steal to maintain the illusion that obedience to the State is somehow an expression of Freedom.
I long for the day when the Caldari rejoin us in the Federation (and when Intaki is hisec...).
Then maybe I can eat fast food in peace without getting called a traitor. |

Entrerpeneurship and economic expansion got the Caldari in a place where the Federation wouldn-¦t be beneficial to them.
Protect by bombarding the planet? I think our definitions are a little discrepant.
And yes, the attack on Nouvelle Rouvenor was indeed an atrocity.
