I was playing an ambush match yesterday for the event and I see this one enemy player jacking up the kill feed with his name + 'Grimlock' Guristas Assault forge gun or the proto ISK assault variant. No, he did not get any vehicle kills but only infantry kills. I never actually saw him in the whole match but I saw friendly blueberries getting decimated by forge gun fire.
I personally think the forge gun is quite difficult to use.....and the assault variant doesn't let you store shots..... |

My theory: It's a glory weapon. If it weren't a challenge, they wouldn't be using it on infantry at all.
I have to admit, there's much more of a rush when you forge snipe than with just about any other weapon, just because of how hard it is. Makes you feel like a god of death. Until someone comes up and takes you out with a militia scrambler pistol. |

I don't even know how people work with the standard hold charge forge gun, the charge is so damn slow.
But it really is a weapon that people can't use too often. I mean, some of my corp tried taking it up but man it didn't work for them at all. And I'm very used to Single Fire Weapons since BFBC2 from sniper shotgunning snipers with a shotgun with a single slug to anywhere to the body. Thats pretty much where I picked up how to use the Forge gun easily since it is the closest to that gun that I used to use.
Forge gunning is best gun for me. I even take it above the HMG entirely. |

It actually takes skill to use a forge gun. Never doubt an enemy using a forgegun. Especially if you see a non militia variant. |

My gurista and I shall never part.
It is the weapon in the game that keeps bringing me back, so much fun watching bodies fly.
The only real trick is to get splash damage higher ground makes it easier. But it can be a a lot of fun. |

If you're using m/kb, it's really helpful to turn down the dpi when using aimed weapons like that. Same deal goes for snipers and basically any other kind of precision shooting. |

If you see my name or any of the other dedicated Forge Gunners names (especially Specter and Kain) posting on this thread on the opposing team, expect that we and our "Boomsticks" are coming for your tank.
And a chest shot to infantry attacking you is ridiculously satisfying.

Man I must be the oddball of the group because I still use DS3 on Forge Gunning because of how efficient I've gotten with it |

I use the DS3 99% (ps3 setup not kb/m friendly at all), however i will occasionally plug in my razer mouse if i just want to pick off tanks that are pillaring corners or a pesky sniper.
I look forward to the day the DS3 isn't so goddam twitchy and imprecise in dust (if that day ever comes lol)

I just started a heavy suit with this^!
Aty first I was like oh no. I made a mistake. I had wanted to start getting a serious AV get up together, and decided on investing into the forge.
Now.. I get it.
It;s sweet. The breach is just as good as the assault.
Breach = becoming mini turret- not a bad issue for me. I even got complimentary emails from the enemy on my turret skills.
Assault = Just like being a turret, you are now aiming on the fly with timing being critical. this is easily the bigger challenge since you have to start hitting targets while you are already looking for the next. Toss on even just lv1 AV nades and already i've rocked the F out of tanks. The F just flew out. serious story. I prolly pooped myself before the 3 kill tank peeps did. I never knew it was like that
way fun tho. It even got me into ambush matches. I typically only haunted skirms. |
