I mute my mic because I don't feel comfortable with the possible abuse. I have been told to go play Little Big Planet and other rude words. I have also been called a little boy. There was a lot of friend requests also in MAG. Weirdly by teenage boys.

heres my thoughts, Im a female player and i have been playing dust for a very long time now. I can probably count on one hand.. (actually probably not) where i gender based abuse or made to feel uncomfortable by other dust players. There are also a lot of female players in BetaMax. (i have been collecting them)
Now, i can understand both sides of the argument. Boys, Im sure you know, as well as i do, that there are a minority of male players in this game that will get very creepy and even obsessive upon finding a girl that plays games, especially if they can do it quite well.
For example, I consider many of the people i play with in dust good friends, some of us have been playing for a long time together and have been though some rough stuff. As of yet, I have not met a single one of these people in real life, though that will be changing at fanfest.
My personal philosophy is that you dont really know someone untill you have spent the night getting totally drunk together and having a great time, which is why when someone started adding me on Facebook, then giving my facebook link to other players behind my back i actually got quite pissed off and creeped out. This creeper is in another corp now so i dont have to deal with his pathetic ass but you get my point.
Female players, especially in FPSs are a massive massive minority and sometimes we like to play together not only because its nice to play with someone in that minority, but also because by playing with a full female squad, that sense of feminine pride that we all just totaly kicked scrawny neckbeard ass with an all female team :P Thats one of the reasons i have tried to get as many female dust players as i could into my corp, and they are ALL amazing players.
On the other hand i usually run with my corp and alliance mates which is usually all men, and i like to think that anyone in the alliance that would probably be a proper problem is unlikely to stay for long in their corp anyway.
So yes! i probably will join this channel, but i am worried about how you are checking that these people are who they say they are. |

I still think that you only make the issue worse by creating a channel based off of gender alone. You won't fix the problem by secluding yourself off in a corner, instead create a chat/corp/etc of like minded people and you'll find that you'll have a much better playing experience. Gotta give jenza some credit in that regard because she has made a corp that is friendly to all types of gamers (and there are many other corps like this out there). Just getting tired of seeing all the girls club/boys club posts. |

You created the channel, thus you should have the ability to say who can join said channel. However, I feel it to be a bit unnecessary to close it off to women only because of your previous experiences with guys. If this is your reasoning, then all you are doing is making a swiping assumption that all guys are this way, and this would be flawed reasoning. 
However, if you are making it with the intent of wanting to simply play with other women, I see no problem with it. This would be a nice place for women who haven't found a group to run with. Although, it still remains unnecessary in my mind, I am able to see, objectively, why you are doing it. I hope it all turns out well. |

I don't see the difference between girl/guy gamers. I was playing with a friend and his wife a while ago and I diden't see or hear a difference. They both raged when they died and talked smack when they got a kill.
The only thing different i noticed, with most girl gamers I have talked to, was the type of games they liked. most of them like RTS's or RPG's over FPS's and action games. I only know two girls that like FPS's and play them regularly.
TL;DR
Girls play games just like guys do. Nothing special.

There has been a couple of incidents of sexism that i was a target of, usually nothing bad. However, the worst i ever got was from Gage, currently of knights of the roundz.
He made numerous references to "how something that bleeds and doesn't die", mosquitos and much more.

I have played with some of the ladies of dust and they are WAY better then I will ever be. I would just say, don't turn off your mics, not all of us are D-bags, a lot, but not all. Also it is kinda sad that you have to do that or have a channel just for ladies because of dumb dudes. |

lol talking about me and my detective skills, although I never gave your Facebook out, infact I pmd you saying to remove your real name from irc because you were easily traceable. Which was the topic of discussion (how easy it was to find people for eve spies). I added you because at the time we were friends having played a lot together, chat a lot in irc, c3 even deciding to start betamax. You even asked me to come back when I left for imperfects. Seriously get over yourself.
in regards to chat room: segregation won't resolve your problem. Join an active corp, get to know the members and become friends. You can't compromise if you are adding fuel to the fire (don't believe me? Look at this threads responses).
I'd also like to note gamers are gamers, any abuse you get is because of that, note because you are female. They will use anything against you and because it's common knowledge sexism is a weakness, it's easy pickings. When jenza was being tested in IRC she took it for face value and even gave some back. She didn't earn her respect by segregation or thinking she needs to be treated like a child with us constantly tiptoeing around her.

I have many friends from online gaming, guys, girls alike. I've met Rains for a Borrito, I've met others from different games, if you find that creepy, fanfest is going to be an eye opener.
Guy who left your corp, told you how easy it was to find people online, left your corp. Yeah wasn't hard. Although I would like to see the bit where I showed the world your facebook after explicitly telling you I wouldn't and told you to change your irc details. Think you'll find that in your logs.

Here's a good post about how to not be a creeping creeper if anybody is interested. I just wanted to put this out there while we are on the topic of "creepers". My personal favourite is "2.
