Valencia, I didn't see a point of two channels, so I have closed mine. Judging by the responses in this thread, I am sure there are a lot of immature boys who will try to infiltrate your channel. I hope you had an EVE character create your channel so they could kick members.

I only turn my mic on in squad, but sometimes the squad leader forgets to lock the squad and we have randoms join. That hasn't really been an issue for me though (I've met some really awesome people through random squads - *cough*Jane*cough*).
This one time, I had one guy join and proceed to immediately FREAK OUT saying "OMG OMG OMG OMG..! ARE YOU A GIRL?!" I swear he was hyperventilating. We are not rare and mythical unicorns - come on, just take a look outside.
My squad leader said something to the effect of "No, he's just a young boy."
It was pretty hilarious.
I count myself among one of the lucky ones on Dust (and in FPS games in general) who hasn't been the target of very many sexist / offensive remarks, but I know that it does exist and it happens quite frequently to others. What Valencia and a few others have said is correct... There is definitely a difference between getting harrassed for being a scrub or how you play the game and getting harrassed based on your gender. If you can't tell the difference between the two, then you are part of the problem. |

The other day, I was on my alt when I received five new emails on Dust. The first four were blank and the last one said "hey babes". I sat there laughing for a couple minutes. I give him a 4/10 and a gold star for trying. |

You could be the most delicious apple on the tree, but there is always going to be somebody who doesn't like apples. It's not a fair assessment of apples, but it is what it is. Whatever. Can everybody agree to disagree, please? Sexist or not, the channel(s) exist for whatever purpose(s) the creator(s) made them for (i.e. safe-spaces, female bonding, synchronizing monthly cycles, etc.) Really, who cares? The channels don't offer any exclusive benefits to it's members that people can't get elsewhere from joining another channel. |

My toon is female and her name is female. Big mistake. Every single match while we're in the warbarge someone is going to amuse themselves by slowly walking in to me, backing up and walking in to me again. I'm assuming that's how they think sex works which is great for the rest of us since they'll never manage to reproduce.
Several times I've gotten on the mic only to get "Well dang! You gots a voice like us menfolk but yer a lady on meh movin' picture screen! You ain't a ***** or something are ya??"
And also one player took advantage of the fact the while I was crouching my sniper rifle rested at precisely dong-level so he proceeded to try and mate with my NT-511 by dickramming it the entire match.
So yea, they deserve a female only channel. Seriously. I'm naming my next character BigWangSheetrockHanger VonNASCARnBEER McSkoalBeardTruckBoatTruck.
EDIT:And also bacon.

There is barely anybody in this channel... Nobody actually talks and I've yet to see any successful LFS. Hahhaha. Actually, I don't pay attention, so by the time I notice somebody was LFS, they have already signed out. Until the channel gets more active female mercs, it would be better to just join a corp if you are looking for a squad... If you have any problems with idiotic corp members, take it to the CEO or directors.
Also, I wouldn't recommend looking for squads in local. I've seen strange things happen in local... |
