What if there were some sort of module that could turn the dropship intoa bomber, only instead of bombs, you're actively launching your passengers out of your dropship. So the driver could actually direct where he wants send them, with inertia dampeners activating as soon as they're launched out. |

ca ronic wrote:Pilots need a chat where they can put together squads. I started a thread and got some good advice on what we should do when we spawn into a DS. Since then I've been in a dozen or so and only one pilot had a mic. When they do drop me its been someplace high and my AR is useless so I jump down, thats better than spawing into a bunch of red dots though. They fly someplace high and land that way most know to get out, sometime when you are just hovering I''m not sure if you want us to jump or not.
We are also going to need a way to find pilots for Planetary Conquest, good pilots will be a huge plus in those battles. There's condor squad, the channels been open for months but our participation levels have dropped recently, its a good place to swing by to chat about dropships. |

A kick feature would be great but truely the problem is that teams are full of blueberrys, if you didn't pilot the dropship you could have used a suit or tank to get kills to carry the team.

I feel your pain, but keep in mind the smart people who jump out also have problems.
Because of my position standing in a dropship, I couldn't see what it was hovering above (big thing to consider). Since it was hovering, I figured the pilot wanted me to jump out, so I did. What happened? Well, I landed on top of a building, DIRECTLY in front of the barrel of an enemy blaster turret. Turns out the ship was shooting at the huge swarm of reds I jumped into, but I couldn't see them (even on radar) |

i was thinking maybe a launch button for ds pilot that would initiate a countdown from 5 and x will be abort launch for the people sitting in or maybe a time limit on how long you have before jumping out this gunners exempt of course would cause douches to sit in redline killing freindlies. who knows maybe 5 points if you drop them in a zone around an objective incentive to get into the heat.

As a dropship gunner I haven't seen many good dropship pilots, other than my corpmates. Most of the time they run into a building or small hill and die. The rest just use them to get themselves up onto buildings to snipe or are shot down within 5 seconds. So flying with/under someone with actual skill would be a relief.
Keeping ignorant blueberries out of our combat dropships can be quite difficult and any means to forcefully remove them would be gladly welcomed!
As for your comment that a CRU on a DS causes the team to loose, I agree with you. Any dropship which is not in contact with it's occupants, gunners or passengers, is simply a liability. Further more, dropships with a blueberry for a pilot are liabilities too as they only induce an AV fever amongst the cherries making it difficult for the real dropships to get their job done.
If you're ever in need of air or artillery support The Shadow Cavalry Mercenaries have skilled pilots with gunnery crews and tankers who would be glad to assist.....for a small fee, of course. |

It was some random guy with 2 gunners who picked me up. I had my sniper fit, but I didn't want to be that ******* that ignores the ship in front of them. |

There's one major problem that probably stops people from jumping out of drop ships. I'm not sure if its just me. But when I'm a passenger in a drop ship, my mini Mao ceases to function properly, so I can't actually see where the objective are. |

Truth.. Tried past two days to get DS squad going on condor and only one taker. I commend the organization of mercs rallying around the dropship dream on the forums but I'd be interested in seeing the fervor shift into the game. A good matchup channel is a must for developing gunner and pilot skills and a consistent following is going to spring from mercs that can count on a channel that makes squads. Not sure if most DS crews are internalized by corps already but even then to me the number of pilots/gunners interested in either the future of aerial combat or simply finding a crew outnumbers any DS action I've seen, even at peak hours. |

Of course I'm using my mic and switching to the team chat channel telling people to jump out. Tried it. Silence. Of course these are the results from 14 matches with a 70% loss ratio. By no means fully representative of gameplay as a whole. Also with people in squad chat, they often can't hear me anyway.
DS will probably have more use may 6th when we have 16v16 corp battles. One good pilot can move an entire squad from point A to B in seconds, and if there in your corp they shouldn't have any objections to jumping out. Not to mention the scenarios were a DS could evacuate people quickly if an area is getting overwhelmed. I cant wait to see gameplay with that sort of thing happening. |

I tried to do this twice. Bot time i touched a rock and the dropship explosive paint killed me. I REALLY hope dropships get some love on may 6. |

Dropships need ejector seats. Turning chat on by default would help, but a way to signal local players similar to squad leader commands would be helpful. I've wasted enough ISK on dropships to last me awhile. Most players won't even get on, since it costs way too much to keep from getting one-shotted. |

Dr Debo Galaxy wrote:I never understood why people just sit in the dropship. Whats the fun in that. Maybe instead of GTFO pad there could be a jump light. Kinda the inside of the dropship would have red light flashing so all nongunners could see it. Then maybe they would get the hint. Also maybe that eve lady from the warbarge could just say " please exit dropship"
No, no, no
A voice over of Samuel L Jackson should play in which he says.
"I've had it with these motherfucking noobs on this goddamn dropship!"
Then all of them get thrown out. |
