37 kills after afking the first 5 mins in a soma. Was under constant AV most of the match. :/ No idea why some armor tankers complain about them being to weak. Can not wait to be in my mad for pub stomping if this soma kicks this much ass can only guess how good a mad is. :)
Just posting to enlighten people that this soma can tank better then my sagaris which is sad. |

Yeah armor tanks are great, till you run into a squad of darksides get caught on a lamp post and require 2 mins to get back up to speed after turning like a freighter. |

oh yeah, forgot that armor is weak to explosive-type damage. and that literally all the anti-vehicle weapons are explosive/hybrid right now. so shield tanks are the only ones with natural resist to standard AV now.
so it's not really weaker, there just isn't a hard counter to shield tanks yet. |

As a tank driver I would rather go against an advanced breech forge rather then a proto assault forge. |

It is 2,5 sec on the assault and you get a bonus of 25% at level 5 forge gun. I have tried to time it with level 4 in Forge gun and the charge time is approximately 1.9 - 2.0 seconds. With level 5 forge it should be 1.875 sec. Fast enough to get three shots at a tank before it escapes unless he has spotted the shooter, their blasters and missiles hurt allot.
The breach forge has a 6 second charge and you cannot move while charging, meaning I have to stand still facing the tank for 4-5 seconds (charge time reduce for having level 4 forge gun). Or standing somewhere ready to fire and waiting for the tank to turn the corner usually die 3 out of 4 times before I get the first shot . Not very healthy with the enormous amount of snipers and scouts running randomly around.
It is much easier with the assault forge, two quick shots and the tank is running which give the opportunity for a third shot before it is away, enough to kill lesser tanks. The high skilled tankers just leave for a minute and they are back in full force. Works best if there are swarm launchers ready waiting to fire when the forge have removed the shields. |

The breach can max deal (2100 * 1,25) + (2100*0,21) + (2100*0,15) = 3381, this is including 25% from weapon proficiency, two complex damage mods and 15% from the forge proficiency skill. This is for the level 2 Breach Forge Gun, cannot remember the stats for the level 4 Breach Gun, it will be +300-400 all included. It could have been a Proto Forge Gunner with maxed skills and three damage modifiers, he would be close to 4000 in total damage with the breach . Very risky with the high cost of the dropsuit and only the sidearm as protection vs infantry. Hitting the back of the tank is at 150%, that could have been 6000 in damage.
It is difficult getting a shot of with the Breach and I personally only use it rarely. |

As far as i know Forge Gun deals Kinetic Damage, which shields are resistant against, not as resistant as explosive but still doing less than full value.
Armor is weakest against explosive (AV grenades, proximity mines, remote explosives, swarm launchers) and Kinetic (Forge Gun)
So basically Armor is weak against every AV weapon in the game right now.
EDIT: Aside from Flux Grenades which really are not "true" AV. Flux is entirely EM shield damage, so they're most effective against Shield tanks. |

When they fix the damage mods the game will change immensely. I don't know why ccp are dragging their feet on this. They need to fix this so we can actually help balance the game...
But a moment about WHY forge guns are better for shield tankers - IIRC they don't get a bonus vs shields, but there is a possibility that they changed that on me and I didn't notice, I'll have to re-science the damage ratings for the different types of damage.
The real strength of the forge gun (and all future hybrid AV) vs shield tankers is that they have great dps and that they aren't explosive. Shields generally have a lower total EHP pool than armor tankers. If you can break through a shield in just a couple shots before they can recharge the shields you can rip apart the chewy center very fast.

I enjoy splashing enemy tanks with my lvl2 assault forge gun in milita heavy gear. From my experience as far as the ease of popping tanks goes, the list from easiest to hardest is something like this:
1. Sica 2. Gunloggi 3. Soma 4. Madrugar 5. Sagiris (only because the average sagiris pilot > average madrugar pilot) 6. Surya
An expanded list with other vehicles:
1. Baloch jeep 2. Milita dropship 3. Sica 4. lower tier dropship 5. gunloggi 6. upgraded jeep 7. Soma 8. Madrugar 9. Sagiris 10. tricked out dropships 11. Surya
In all honesty I will say a standard heavy dropsuit dude is harder to kill with the forge gun than a gunloggi. |
