CCP have not said that it will happen and they certainly do not want it to happen.
What they have not done is completely rule it out. Every statement on the matter has a broad catch all caveat that means if they really thought it was in the best interests of the game to do some kind of a reset they could and they would. They would have to have really screwed the pooch to make that a reality. However, I lived through Incarna, so you can never rule anything out.
However, there are more likely scenarios. CCP have been completely silent on new player advantages or any levelling of the playing field once the game is released.
This could include things like higher SP at birth or increased earn rate until a player hits x SP.
We are already seeing a skill gap developing and there are threads on how pub stomping of new players is more common place.
Questions also remain on the effectiveness of matchmaking to resolve this - more so with this input peripheral nonsense.
So basically I'd be more concerned about others gain than your loss. |

I see where you're coming from, but I think it's more the fact that CCP recently had a nasty incident with microtransactions and some memo (that was probably faked, anyway) so they probably aren't too big on committing to anything right now.
I'm paraphrasing but the language they used was that there would be no more wipes "unless something catastrophic happens." Seems pretty clear they have no desire to do another wipe unless someone manages to steal all the ISK and Assets from every player in the game and sets everyone's PS3 to explode if they run anything other than a militia heavy suit with nova knives.
All just speculation or course but I feel very confident that there in fact will not be another wipe. |

If they were smart they would, everything has changed. Even AUR prices and soon all of the dropsuit skills with completely change. They should at least let us retain 3-4 million sp. But I was under the impression that more future features were going to start coming out faster since they bragged about the streaming content Bullshit.
Remember that?
Now it'll take us less time to deliever stuff to you, like these new weapons! We won't need a content patch we'll be able to stream it in so expect it soon! and we don't mean soontm
But we've gotten no content for such a long time I didn't think people were going to be at 10 million sp before serious features we're released. We are going to start off at release mowing down drones with our sp. Where is the fun in leveling up and progressing through a finished game with 4 races of suits to choose from.
When this game is released with the other tanks and dropsuits, no one is ging to be able to use any of them at 1st. Becuase we are matched by sp and skill. So how can I use the minmatar scout if everyone at my sp and skill level in running around in prototype dropsuits in 4 months?
I just, thought people would be hitting 2 million sp as the next patch hit. At this rate release will see players allready at 20 million sp. Is that ok? I mean I guess it might be :/ |

Let me guess: "I would have 1 isk, since the other 999.999 isk would've been spent for gear etc."?
I have to agree with Bald Crusader Two - CCP doesn't plan it, but they can't deny the possibility (small as it is) that there might be a reset, if they happen to screw up majorly. |

What worries me is that there is a lot of people spending aurum very quickly who still believe that there will be a retail wipe as "thats the norm" when it comes and ccp dont do a retail wipe i can see there being a lot of hassle about 'lost' aurum resulting in a retail wipe being done. normally its nothing to worry about with free ingame money but when it comes to it that some idiot has spent $30 on protosuits because he thought he would have it all back come release then ccp start to get a lot of grief. Personally i was cautious about spending my aurum till i had an official word back and i'd hate to see a wipe now i just hit 3.2mill sps lol i just cant help shake that annoying feeling that in the end it will happen |

Actually, I think CCP Eterne once hinted that the closest we might come to a tests will be a skills reset, meaning that we keep all our SP but will have to reallocate them. This will most likely happen anytime new skills are introduced.
EDIT: Here is the post:

Because every week there is some thread about the full game release character reset. No matter how many times CCP syas it will not happen. People still show up and ask:
"So when are we gonna get a character reset? Will there be a stat reset when the game launches?" |

There will have to be a major change to the skill books for this to happen. A likely possibility of this happening is like how CCP removed the 'Learning' skill books from Eve Online because they were detrimental to the progression of Eve players who happen to be 14-day trial as they were forced to waste a significant amount of time training up unnecessary skills before even getting started with training up skills for ships. This caused many trial users to get discouraged from continuing to play and also broke the level of immersion for new players.
As a result, those learning skills were removed and ultimately a new "annual attribute reallocation' system was implemented in place of that which allows players to decide every year which skill types can be trained faster while other skill types suffer slower skill training. For example: if you focused your character attributes to Willpower and Perception and taking away from other attributes such as Intelligence and Memory, then any skills you have that are effected by Willpower and Perception will train faster while your skills that are affected by Intelligence and Memory will suffer a slower training time. This is a once-a-year system for players. In no way does this ever allow SP reallocation. Only the speed of skill training for certain skill types.
I can see this 'Annual Attribute Reallocation' system working for Dust as well. It's a good compromise as it appeases both sides of the "SP Respeccing" debate. In Dust's case, the SP requirements for each level of a certain skill type will be reduced while other skill types will see a marked increase in SP requirements. It would also allow players to specialize faster in Dust. |

Is this skill reset still being mentioned in the merc pack purchase or something ... or is it just some word of mouth rumour thing now ?
A while ago it was still being stated somewhere, I presume CCP have remedied it. |
