Arkombine Military Logistics Messenger Document:117.02.28.7.25KAVCN Dispersion Widest Possible to All Organized and Freelance Mercenaries
Subject: New Deployment Orders Effective 1600-1800 On 2/28/2013 Location: New Caldari Prime, New Caldari System, Kimotoro Constellation, The Forge Region, Local New Eden Cluster Sovereignty: Caldari (contested?) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attention all Mercs! New deployment orders have been issued, prepare for dust off.
Protection the Caldari Hardworking People or put them down and remind them that Tibus Heath is in charge
To access these battles during operational times, use battle finder and browse to the mercenary contracts during deployment times. From there a numerous selection of battles will be available and you can accept them there.
Due to Equal Opportunity Act the side you may wind up on may not be the one you intend. Command shares your frustration but the nearly 100 year old Yulai Convention is not exactly worded for the immortal soldiers as personnel; rather the convention considers us pieces of equipment under current wording. So until amendments are made to it to consider us non-equipment and actual personnel we're lumped in the same category as technology and thus any 'technological advantage' of one empire must be made available to all other empires by either providing the technology outright or sharing the information that lead to its creation.
Announcement from command. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=585515#post585515
Heth's hand the Templarus Dragonair will be employing the State Peacekeepers to 'handle' the situation with the gentle use of oppression while the protesters have found themselves Expert Intervention to rally to their cause.
Aggressors Caldari Provonist - State Peacekeepers
Defenders Caldari People - Expert Interfention
Background Intel *Generating*
Deployment Times is 1600-1800 (3 hours appox. from the time of this transmission)
Once again our efforts will determine history.

If Heth were removed it could create a dramatic shift in the Caldari State. A defeat and successful uprising by the Caldari people on the Caldari capitol system could be just the spark needed to set events in motion to finally rid the State of the tyrant that is Heth. |

From a role playing perspective, this is a horrible attitude.
Even if you were vehemently opposed to what you were being PAID to fight for, you are a Mercenary, and an immortal one at that. You fight for who pays the bills, not for who you agree with.

Many have their own ideals and morals, and will fight for the side they feel is right (which can also mean sabotaging the side they don't feel is right if they happen to be drafted for it)
If I happen to get on and into one of these matches I'll be helping the people and try to sabotage Heth's goons if I'm drafted for their side. |

There are two sides to New Eden, the player driven story and the greater story created by non-player characters, but influenced in it direction by Live Events. This events actually shape the future of the games story and it's done by you.
Live Events date back to the beginning of Eve and they are there to fill in the content and the world that is New Eden. Great games have great story lines and backstories and New Eden has some of the deepest backstories of any gaming universe I've had the pleasure of being a part of. |

OK, but we're not talking about removing Heth (at least not yet). We're talking about either attacking or defending employee protesters. Will his position be made less secure by defending these protesters or by helping him to go fully paranoid dictator. If he actually succeeds in killing these people, innocent though they may be, the shock of that act may well have greater negative implications for the security of Heth's position.
It's great that we have this level of interaction but when I don't really know what consequences I'm choosing between I don't think the choice is really meaningful. |

If Heth wants to expunge all the clones from Caldari space, he will only be sealing the fate of his empire. And empire with only finite meatbags to throw into combat will surely succumb to any clone bearing force. Simple math really.
The story part of it is largely irrelevant to the larger issue, which is with people trying to predetermine the outcome, and encouraging people to not play the game, but SP farm during a live event.
You want to role play non violent resistance, equip your fits with a militia submachine gun and walk out into your enemies guns, over and over and over.
When YOU do that, then I will see that you are committed to the fall of Heth, and I will respect it.
Finally, I hate to say this, but think of the newcomers. They load into a special event, and instead of finding a fight going on, they come across a team sitting in the MCC.
How does that encourage them to take part in another live event? How is that even fun for the other team either? If only a fraction of the enemy team shows up, there will be no fight, just a few quick kills until the few with heart to actually play realize that the rest of the team is letting them get killed, then it is just a countdown timer till the match ends.
Explain to me how that is an enjoyable experience for anyone involved? Explain to me how that gets more people involved in EvE lore, or the connection between the two games?

You can take it however you like it. if people are willing to fall on a nade for what they believe is the greater good then so be it. There was one instance where someone was going AFK and then offered to pay another blue dot to help kill team mates and smash friendly vehicles with his tank.
The fact that the match ISN'T plugging along like any normal match will let people know that there is something up. Maybe they'll come to the forums to complain about the people being afk and will read this thread and know that it was part of people getting involved in the bigger picture.
Also, remember I'm just saying do this for the attacking side. Destroy the enemy as much as you want if you are defending. In all honesty this a stop-gap to the fact that we can't choose sides in these fights, which is something that really should be added. |

Command would like to thank all the mercenaries that participated. Battle reports are being generated now.
Early reports suggest some hesitation and confusion expressed by the mercenaries post battle to what they are fighting for. As Tibus Heth continues to pit the state against itself it's becoming harder to decide how the impact is going to be anything but favorable or predictable. |

OR people can stop abusing game mechanics. Because stopping an AFK farmer requires the work of another person meaning 2 people are not on the battlefield instead of one.
Seriously eventually ccp is going to have to step in and fix it.
Personally I'm a friend of extremes and say they should remove the redline and give players a 10 second "evac from mcc" period or they die for failing to support the cause. |

Unfortunately, an error in my CRU's consciousness-transfer software meant my clones were asleep until the tail end of the conflict. But the fighting I saw was definitely not in favor of one side or the other. I woke up in the middle of a battle that looked well in hand for the people of Expert Intervention, but a massive, determined counter-offensive demolished our lines. I myself was consistently pinned by laser fire, so I wasn't able to support my allies very easily. The battle ended heavily in the Peacekeeper's favor, despite my best efforts.
My next deployment was certainly an uphill fight. We managed to secure a natural ridge-line with heavy-suit support, but the Peacekeepers doggedly fought for it the whole match. Thankfully, impressive logistical support from myself and several others ensured our casualties were kept to an absolute minimum. when the enemy saw they couldn't dislodge our position with basic infantry, they resorted to other methods, including LAV rushes, orbital strikes, and precision sniping to diminish our logistical support. But expert triage and AV tactics, as well as a perfectly-timed counter-orbital bombardment, ensured we kept our superior position. So despite an impressive early lead, we managed to whittle down the enemy's strength, eventually forcing them to withdraw to lick their wounds.
I can't say I favor a stronger Caldari State, being Gallente and therefore repugnant to a majority of its population, but it feels nice to fight for the little guy for a change.
That, and every dead Caldari means the Federation is that much safer. |

I am glad we were able to protect the protesters during their movement on the ground. At least the citizens of New Caldari could see that some clone mercenaries are willing to protect their fellow man, not murder them in cold blood for profit. I'm proud I was able to make a stand against Caldari corporate tyranny. And on New Caldari no less Imagine people's surprise when they found out a Gallent was in full combat armor firing at State Peacekeepers
It is unfortunate that the protesters' fortunes couldn't have been maintained in space, however. The Home Guard was charged with protecting the people under its charge. And yet they were easily able to terminate their own charges. Yes, pun intended. I am glad the capsuleers and CONCORD made a stand against this madness, even if they couldn't save everyone involved.
I hope Heth is happy with the mess he's made. |

Role play fail CCP, only 2000 people died? that people die every time a capital ship goes down. In fact more lifes were most likely lost in the simple ship on ship battle that happen around the "mass murder"
I was picturing the normal capacity of a freighter for human cargo, 40,000 each. Why did they have 2 carrying a total of 5000 protesters?
meh I don't want to feel like a hyper nerd but, who cares if 2000 people die in new eden, I mean come on. |

freighters without cargo are simple ships they can be operated with a crew of 10. |

Escape pods are also a thing. While the first freighter didn't die slowly, it didn't die that quickly. The second one took forever to die. The longer it takes a ship to get through armour (if it's shield tanking) and structure, the more people get off alive.
Not to mention they were filled with protesters. So even if it's going to be capable of carrying a full load of people, it makes sense that they only got x number of protesters and that's what they flew out with. |

I would also like to note that don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Also that these freighters may have had multiple destinations and thus where going to shuttle their respective protesters back to their home systems/stations. |
