Now i see a lot of people just out right complaining about something that's not gonna fix a problem you need to actually help CCP as well. Explain why the issue happened how it happened and if possible how to duplicate it.I also see a lot of threads just outright hating on the game. You're aloud to have you own opinion but don't shove it down my throat. when you look at the big picture you realize this game has great potential but also quite a few problems (mostly minor)
Just keep positive please :) |

CCP hasn't been helping, or having communication really with the player base.
In turn you'll see us complain.
CCP has had problems since first build.
These problems haven't been fixed and after acknowledging them, there hasn't been a word on 99% of the issues.
Why should we be happy? We're kind of not really being heard.
I wish it was still NDA and closed beta, at least I think we'd get more answers and communication from the devs. |

This is still the beta I wouldnt worry about things not getting fixed until fan fest. Thats when we see what this game is actualy going to be like, until then we are playing a game that is meant to allow ccp to gather the data it needs to to polish the actual game. yes ccp is non responsive it might have something to do with the fact that they are working untill 2am on saturdays, becuase they are working their asses off getting **** done.
So please stop being such selfish needy bastards and understand that you are beta testers, ccp owes you nothing, and has gone out of their way to keep us happy.
again (and TL;DR) hold your bitching(not feedback) and you worries until fanfest, after that its pretty much gonna be the finished product so ***** and worry away. |

How are we supposed to test when there's nothing to test?
And when we ask for a balance change CCP breaks it then forgets it so they can move on?

Do all of us forum user complain often? Yes. But why do we do it? Because honestly we love Dust and want it to succeed. If we all thought it hopelessly sucked, we wouldn't care to be on the forums.
I'll say one nice thing about CCP, they are the first dev team (AFAIK) that combined two totally different games, on two totally different platforms, under ONE single server. That's awesome and revolutionary. So, hats off!
However, most people just complain that CCP is kind of disconnected from us and with f2p microtransaction business model, it's important to be active on the forums and community. Riot games (makers of League of Legends, the most successful game using this business model...maybe even the most successful game regardless in most aspects) truly hears the community out. Mainly it's the pro players, but they do keep us posted and they are active on the forums. I know they're busy, but a post of bullet points that tells us what they're looking into..it goes a long way with the community. What if they're looking to do something that we don't like? Then they're going to have to hear us complain and it'll eventually get changed after a good 2-4 weeks of war on the forums. That's so much wasted time. They just need to talk to us more! |

They actually have this, updated weekly, in the Tech Support/Bug Forum. Yes, it was not updated for a few weeks while they were on Holiday, but did no-one seriously notice the fact that they were hard at work during *our* Holidays? Infact, one of their most ambitious technical achievements happened while we were on holiday, and therefore we got to enjoy it more. (OBs, Chromosome, TQ Link, etc)
Seriously guys, thy are literally just back from holidays a couple of days ago. Let them at least go through everything, and get back into the swing of things. That bug list post has since been updated since they got back, might be worth having a look.
Also, hang out in IRC, there is always convo's going on in there, and often quick dev responses. Hans/Heinz does an awesome job of keeping those who aren't in IRC updated, but it is much better to be in there in person. |

I will bring in the beta card! from that post you linked things have improved drastically, are we still lacking content and functionality? yes but the core is here which is really all we need to make sure that the core works as expected. The things that are in beta right now are what ccp wants data on.
the last big build before release is during fan fest, thats when we get to test the game as a whole, that will tell us what will be at launch, SO YES THIS IS A DAMN BETA WE PLAY AT THE PLEASURE AND SERVICE OF CCP, give your feedback and ideas, discus these with others, but stop flooding the forums with demands, gripes, and speculation of failure threads. |

Couldn't agree more. I swear people have lost the meaning of the word "beta" in the context of software development.
If I may cite one example, and I am not trying to compare the companies this is just a "For Example" type thing. Blizzard Entertainment. Their "Beta" is *never* feature complete, and things are added and changed throughout the Beta Process.
Hell, some companies have "Stress Test" betas of no more than the first part of the game, just to stress test the servers. Often on Weekends alone, as that is the time of most traffic.
Just because some companies put out a demo and label it "Beta" doesn't change the meaning of the word in the context of Software Development. This is not a "Feature Complete" Demo, it is an In Development Beta. Hell, the only reason this beta is even "open" now, is because they had to test the TQ link in a live environment, and make sure nothing hit the fan. With that, they knew they could never enforce the NDA anymore as everyone would be talking to the Live Capsuleers, so they just said "bugger it" and made it Open. That is why there was absolutely no Media Fanfare or anything like that. This is *not* a demo, this is *not* a release. It is an in-development, not feature complete, Beta, to test things and find bugs, and get the core of the game (including the backend stuff you don't see) working properly. |

You would notice that the fact that the thread it is still relevant after half a year pretty much debunks you, but not for the issues... most of them (even though you could make a case if this even is a proper beta....) but to the fact that people still behave the way they did on october it really shows how well does our comunication lines go to CCP, talk talk talk and hope one of the proper requests sticks.
Oh yes and the core is far from being up to par compared of the amount of feedback provided. But thanks for trying.
And as already stated on the linked topic, A BETA IS: the step when you just fix the new content and polish balance on the current meta. take a look around, that aint working so hot does it, hotshot? Specially when the only ""balanced"" weapon in the whole game is the AR and thats just because fps has a stiffie with rilles so EVERYONE and their grandpas uses them (and **** everything else to hell),
I mean we are even had issues with the sp gain but I guess dropship will still be an nonfactor, and cheap geks flood every game.

At the end of the day we complain or criticize to use a better term , Only because we are passionate about the game. there are alot of players that spend huge amounts of time on this game and have only earned their right to complain a little.
The only way to get the Devs to listen is to mention bugs or problem in big numbers. a small group or handful will never get an issue noticed never mind fixed. Also when reporting bugs etc post as much information as possible about the problem you encountered.
I am in the category that believes this game has huge amounts of potential and a little optimistic about why the Devs have been so quiet since Open Beta began. Maybe (hopefully) they have a big update coming for the start of Spring.... Who knows or maybe the game will remain the same till summer.
One thing the Devs could do is communicate a lot better or more frequently. |

The feelings of entitlement that some gamers have is pitiful and their QQing is a bi-product of totally unrealistic expectations. CCP are visionaries and if you are part of the NOW generation you are destined to wallow in your own butthurt. So be it. I'm a visionary too, and I think a great deal of the people on these forums are as well. They also have their eyes set further down the line and can see the current flaws and issues as natural obstacles that are being and will be overcome.
Of course, QQing is a sign of being passionate about a game, as another merc said. This is something I have seen expressed when I was a mod for Gearbox around the Borderland days...but really, there are ways to express this same passion without coming off as a whining ingrate vomiting your displeasure born from said unrealistic expectations.
You want some positivity? I phucking love DUST 514. It's all I care to play these days and has stolen most the hype I had for other PS3 games like TLOU, Beyond and GoW (though I will still play and enjoy these games, DUST has my <3). CCP has also become my favorite developer due to its flare for tech, innovation and imaginative gameplay design. No one is doing what CCP is doing, they may have nice graphics, they may have good AI going, but no one has the kind of cross platform, gross genre badassery that is being cooked up in CCP offices around the world. When I cast my eyes to the future, I see the EVE Universe being the biggest and best sci-fi universe ever created...whether it blows up or keeps a dedicated & hardcore niche following remains to be seen, but that's how I see it. In the mean time, I'll play the game, enjoy it, report the bugs and watch as the game evolves and grows before my eyes. :)

God your density just baffles me... How... But... Hopeless, cant face palm any harder, oh please tell how me knowing about upcoming features will make them better? I would love to know. As a beta tester you are supposed to relay info about current build tell them problems and such you arent entitled to any info about the future Should they communicate? probably Do they have to? not by any means I am not dense im realistic CCP doesnt have to share until they are ready |

Simple son: Scrap terrible ideas from the get go, when you as a comunity know that a terrible idea should not implemented (like the UVT but hey if they are fools who want to was money on it), I think as many people do, that the mayor issues of the current builds had been convered.... that ccp had take notice of or not its up to them.
And second, you saprogenic mongoloid, if most of the oldschool beta testers have a unanimous grpe is the lack of reponse on CCP and you go like "well they dont have to" then THERE IS A ******* PROBLEM, wherether people like you who just seem to be a living congnitive dissonance, or CCP just rocking their chair saying "see, they are stupid, lets just keep running this beta as a jenga game", |

And just fyi I happen to love jenga |

Not dense.... right.
Look, we are not asking them to feature the upcoming content on a full propaganda or plaster a website with it, we are asking for something beyond a couple of ambigous quotes, to have an idea what to expect, like back in the e3 build, at least they gave us something to chew onto. Besides that not only for next build but just information in general, how many people would like to know where does the true feedback goes to or how do they apply it, since the only current responses we get from CCP goes as follow: A) Soon.tm B) Silent as a graveyard. C) Nerfhammer to oblivion. D) "Oh yeah, about that... well maybe"
I rest my case, son. |

I think we need more complaining. The more we complain the more likely things that are big issues will get fixed.
We need more interaction from the developers, too. |

I rest my case, son. Again ccp doesn't have to give you any info before release How much info do you get from bf3 or cod or halo before release other than some small concepts? you are being dense by not thinking this through

By that logic Valve should never had given information to their testers or players for that matter, when they released every new patch in dota 2 or CS, but still they did.... or are you going to argue those are bad betas for not being secretive? Dont mistake prudence with silence. Numbskull. |

Except for that fact of what they claimed of their relationship with their playerbase, not to mention that a level of comunication on that level would ceirtainly help and improve inmensly the comunity input and also would tell the devs in a more clear way, what people want and what they dont.
But if you want CCP not backing up their claims, and a sub par betaprocess/product, more power to you...
In other words, you dont have to use shoes while walking on glass, but does it sounds like a good idea? if so, go ahead. |
