Explain why the issue happened how it happened and if possible how to duplicate it.I also see a lot of threads just outright hating on the game. You're aloud to have you own opinion but don't shove it down my throat. when you look at the big picture you realize this game has great potential but also quite a few problems (mostly minor)
Just keep positive please :) Do all of us forum user complain often? Yes. But why do we do it? Because honestly we love Dust and want it to succeed. If we all thought it hopelessly sucked, we wouldn't care to be on the forums. I'll say one nice thing about CCP, they are the first dev team (AFAIK) that combined two totally different games, on two totally different platforms, under ONE single server. That's awesome and revolutionary. So, hats off! However, most people just complain that CCP is kind of disconnected from us and with f2p microtransaction business model, it's important to be active on the forums and community. Riot games (makers of League of Legends, the most successful game using this business model...maybe even the most successful game regardless in most aspects) truly hears the community out. Mainly it's the pro players, but they do keep us posted and they are active on the forums. I know they're busy, but a post of bullet points that tells us what they're looking into..it goes a long way with the community. What if they're looking to do something that we don't like? Then they're going to have to hear us complain and it'll eventually get changed after a good 2-4 weeks of war on the forums. That's so much wasted time. They just need to talk to us more!
They actually have this, updated weekly, in the Tech Support/Bug Forum. Yes, it was not updated for a few weeks while they were on Holiday, but did no-one seriously notice the fact that they were hard at work during *our* Holidays? Infact, one of their most ambitious technical achievements happened while we were on holiday, and therefore we got to enjoy it more. (OBs, Chromosome, TQ Link, etc)
Seriously guys, thy are literally just back from holidays a couple of days ago. Let them at least go through everything, and get back into the swing of things. That bug list post has since been updated since they got back, might be worth having a look.
Also, hang out in IRC, there is always convo's going on in there, and often quick dev responses. Hans/Heinz does an awesome job of keeping those who aren't in IRC updated, but it is much better to be in there in person. |

Thats when we see what this game is actualy going to be like, until then we are playing a game that is meant to allow ccp to gather the data it needs to to polish the actual game. yes ccp is non responsive it might have something to do with the fact that they are working untill 2am on saturdays, becuase they are working their asses off getting **** done.
So please stop being such selfish needy bastards and understand that you are beta testers, ccp owes you nothing, and has gone out of their way to keep us happy.
again (and TL;DR) hold your bitching(not feedback) and you worries until fanfest, after that its pretty much gonna be the finished product so ***** and worry away.
Dont you even dare bring the "its a beta" card. Dont you even dare. I will bring in the beta card! from that post you linked things have improved drastically, are we still lacking content and functionality? yes but the core is here which is really all we need to make sure that the core works as expected. The things that are in beta right now are what ccp wants data on. the last big build before release is during fan fest, thats when we get to test the game as a whole, that will tell us what will be at launch, SO YES THIS IS A DAMN BETA WE PLAY AT THE PLEASURE AND SERVICE OF CCP, give your feedback and ideas, discus these with others, but stop flooding the forums with demands, gripes, and speculation of failure threads.
Couldn't agree more. I swear people have lost the meaning of the word "beta" in the context of software development.
If I may cite one example, and I am not trying to compare the companies this is just a "For Example" type thing. Blizzard Entertainment. Their "Beta" is *never* feature complete, and things are added and changed throughout the Beta Process.
Hell, some companies have "Stress Test" betas of no more than the first part of the game, just to stress test the servers. Often on Weekends alone, as that is the time of most traffic.
Just because some companies put out a demo and label it "Beta" doesn't change the meaning of the word in the context of Software Development. This is not a "Feature Complete" Demo, it is an In Development Beta. Hell, the only reason this beta is even "open" now, is because they had to test the TQ link in a live environment, and make sure nothing hit the fan. With that, they knew they could never enforce the NDA anymore as everyone would be talking to the Live Capsuleers, so they just said "bugger it" and made it Open. That is why there was absolutely no Media Fanfare or anything like that. This is *not* a demo, this is *not* a release. It is an in-development, not feature complete, Beta, to test things and find bugs, and get the core of the game (including the backend stuff you don't see) working properly. |
