Sorry guys. I've felt they were a bit too strong ever since this build started and I picked up my fat cannon, but I never really felt they were blatantly OP.
That changed last night though, as I finally upgraded to my Level 3 HMG (my SP are fairly spread out). Just a measly .8 extra damage, and that gun DESTROYS. It is literally a point and click weapon.
For the love of things that deserve love, can you please put a spool up timer on this thing, and increase the heat build up while you're at it? Damn. |

Owning noobs in militia gear does not make it OP.
Spool up no thanks.

Well most of that dispute is just because people are bad and don't want to change their tactics. But yea, these high level HMGs? Yea, they smoke. Something needs to change. |

those that properly fit their suits do not have issues with heavies...
in the eyes of the BPO Swami and underground militia gurus... yes its beast.
vs a properly outfitted player, each has their strengths and weaknesses
8 second reload still the ultimate weakness that trumps all the crying I've seen

I really don't think they are OP i was chased around a corner in my Scout suit last night right into the waiting tender loving arms of a heavy and his MH-82. long story short i walked away with 33 armor and the heavy was a pile of squishy fat man on the ground.
so inside his optimal range in a wet paper bag with a shotgun i won. while he was shooting me mind you... |

Get a shotgun or sniper rifle. YOu will destroy Heavies.
They will a role that counters most Assault/AR lemmings, so they cry about it. This isn't COD. Get smarter, or die. |

lol spool up time... in that case give the shotgun a charge up time then...
You know, since the HMG is suppose to be CQC, and the shotgun is also CQC...
If there's a spool up time for HMG, then increase range, and reduce spread. |

I used to think they were slightly over powered, but lately I have been going up against really talented assault players and they have been giving me fits as a HMG user even at close range. I have started to die quite a bit lately and it does seem that if the Heavy class does go up against advanced or prototype drop suit users that it does struggle a lot even in close quarters. I could be struggling because IGÇÖm still using the Type-II Heavy drop suit and MH-82 HMG which does puts me at a disadvantage against players with better weapons and drop suits. But in every build I have been in the Heavy class does tend to depreciate over time and become less useful compared to the other classes.
The one Nerf Heavies do need though is the burn up mechanism. ItGÇÖs ridiculous that if somebody gets HMG Operation level 3 and uses just the advanced HMGGÇÖs that they never have to worry about burning up. A Heavy should not be allowed to literally hold the trigger down from start to finish of their magazine and not burn up. I would be in full support of this Nerf because it would separate who actually is good with HMGGÇÖs and who is the idiot just holding down the trigger. I also would like to point out that if CCP finally gives us stacking penalties for power modules then that can help really decide which weapons are OP and which ones arenGÇÖt. The ability to stack power modules cannot be underestimated and itGÇÖs the first thing CCP should address before they start nerfing weapons again.

Recommending that CCP nerf an Advanced or Prototype weapon when it destroys Militia or Standard armor is not how you balance a game. |

Was playing last night and there was a match where I was getting owned from almost halfway across the map by a MH-82 (or whatever it's called). I have never seen such range on a HMG before, it was as if I was going up against an AR, my health wasn't slowly dropping, but being depleted at an insta-kill rate. And it's not as if they had been firing for a long time and the accuracy was tightening, they just opened up and dropped me.
Range does need a slight tweak, but I think if they left it at that it would be tolerable. Although in CQC a decently speced heavy will likely win about 98% of the time, which can't be said for any other class (except perhaps a decent shotgunner, but even then they are still paper-thin). |

lol...you are the worst heavy troll out.
Shotgunners paper thin? Have you met Assault shotgunners with speed mods?
I'm still waiting on people to post 100-0 games using a heavy. I mean tanks can get 50+ kills, and they are fine, but heavies are OP, so getting 100+ kills should be a stroll in the park then. |

How about a stop to all these nerf threads. I rather like the idea of speeding up scouts to jumpy rabbits, giving heavies insane amounts of HP, making Assaults more versatile by giving a general stats buff, and making logis have more CPU/PG and slots.
Nerfing everything slowly degrades a game to the point where everything feels like shooting wet rubber bullets. Instead, give every player his own extreme to chose from and use that to balance.
Heavies were fun with 1600eHP. But scouts wasted them through insane strafe speed back in the May/June build. Assaults were well rounded. Logis have always been ok, but I say, instead of nerfing something, BUFF the other things.
Nerf mentality is less fun than making everything more high energy and intense! |

For all we know you could've been in a proto suit and he could be rocking some milita crap fat suit and still got you down to 33 armor with a close range advantage. |

Nerf mentality is less fun than making everything more high energy and intense! lol the assaults weren't really "well rounded".. they just had a pre-nerf AR, and still got stomped by god mode HP heavies and too fast to hit scouts. we don't need to take a step backward |

IMO just increase bullet spread at range, these things shoot like an AR at range. its a freaking gatling gun that sprays.. lol if it is a true CQC like you all say then you all will not have a problem spreading the bullets the further out they go. HMG need to have its cone of bullets widen and spread the further out it goes. not stay like a laser rifle. |

Hey man keep up with the times, my views on heavies have changed a lot. But I still think a slight change in range is necessary (more precisely, sharpshooter, and/or other range increasing skills, should be a lot less effective for heavies). They are CQC beasts that instantly tear down anything in front of them, but they shouldn't have that ability for medium-long ranges too.
As for shotgunners, I was referring to the scout class. Never ran across an assault using a shotty yet (that I know of).

I have to agree. Using the HMG is boring. I
'll only accept a spool up timer if I can pre-spool and walk around with it making a terrifying noise. I think the main thing to do would be to just increase the spread and making crouching tighten the spread to what it is now standing. Don't decrease the range the bullets travel. |

If an animal jumps into a meat grinder it speaks more about the animal than the meat grinder.
In Team Fortress 2 if I played heavy and someone charged at me they generally stopped after the first time. If the player is smart enough to not play 1 on 1 with a Heavy in close range which they specialize in I generally only hurt them even with Complex Damage mods. People generally get confused that if they think they are gonna die that somehow charging more into the Heavy's range will either help their odds or injure me more before they die. It just means I'm done with you faster. |

I personally don't think it's that over-powered, but I'm sick of it being flavor of the month. A minor nerf may fix that.

You won't find any smart TR player using the Mini-Chain Gun in Planetside 2 because you'll be on the ground before it finishes spinning up. Any weapon that doesn't fire immediately after you pull the trigger is completely useless no matter what else you do. |

If the HMG really is easy mode use it against a good squad on an open map. Heat build up is insane right now basically non existant. Being a heavy myself I dont think they are OP at all. Use range dance with us and dont 1v1. Problem solved, also flux nades work good on us shield heavies. |
