I like how you get the exile, thats a great starter gun. Also like the 7 day active, need that to start. I think the 20 neo suits should be swaped for BPO's because 60 lives is 6 games for a noob comming in at this point. I also think 2k AUR should be raised to at least 7k AUR so the nub can buy himself a passive to go along with his active, cuz the poor guy needs every skillpoint he can get. I think the starter could be better. I wouldent waste 10 dollars on this, the 20 dollar merc pack is much better for noobs and experienced players alike |

Yea, that starter kit is worth no more than 5 bucks. 3 dollars would make it a deal. I don't understand why CCP is charging so much for this. Coupled with the increase price of BPOs and this is pointing to something... wonky. |

Right! This is pretty silly. If you bought 2 starters you would have 14 days active booster and 4k Aur. Buying 2 merc packs would get you 60 days active and 80k AUR. You also gets HUNDREDS more in quantity on merc pack gear than starter. And to top it all of, the merc pack is only 10 more dollars than the starter. LMFAO CCP, is this a joke? CCP needs to HTFU on their micro transactions |

So gamestop has a merc pack that has a new submachine gun bpo alongside the toxin....same price. Eff this over priced starter pack.
The Exile is basically a militia assault rifle with a full 60 clip. I hear with better handling too. |

Yeah that pack is just meh....
I made an article about it on Dust514-france in which i clearly say it's not worth it and that at that price, going for a merc pack with an extra 10e or just buying an Aurum pack for the same price is way more interesting.
Those 60 suits are just useless imo. The AR, you might as well be sponsored and get the other AR BPO plus the 7 day active booster for FREE. |

Thanks you 2 for answering my question, though feel slightly trolled by Exmaple Core :p
When i get nailed by an Exile it feels like all rounds hit me dead center, might just be the guy had good aim but if you say it has less recoil that might explain the tight grouping of rounds i notice when underfire by that rifle. |

The terrible thing is, people are going to buy this pack, which is going to encourage CCP (which I suspect is being pressured by Sony (they pull this kinda ****)) to keep doing this kinda stuff.

Yep the "Exile" Assault Rifle looks pretty much like the Standard Assault.. I did read that it had less recoil though mentioned around the forums~.. Lol those 60 "Neo" suits will last like 1-2 hours.. I agree that this should be only $5~

Its exactly what the name states, a "Starter" pack. Yes the Merc pack is a better value, but you still get 24,200 Aur worth of stuff when just buying the Aurum right out for the same amount would only get you 21,000 Aur. It is something will allow new players to test out 3 different classes of suit to compare right of the bat. If they were given a BPO, it would have had to have been of one class type which would limit the starting player.
Not sure why most are making an issue of this when you most likely got it for free for being apart of PS+. |

Maybe if the Neo suits were special type A's that anyone could wear, that would make it worth the 10. It would give new players a much better idea on what these suits each become once you really start using them too.
Edit - Be are complaining because it's poor form and takes advantage of new players who don't understand the value of things yet. It's overpriced. Just because SOME will get it for free does not make this ok. |

Just so you guys know, we are monitoring the feedback on pricing of these packs versus the perceived quality of the goods we're offering in them. So thanks on any feedback, even if it's "This isn't worth it!" It helps us decide on what to put in future packs and how to properly price them. |

The starter packer is over priced in perceived value. Take for example, the dust packs being sold on ebay for $10 I get
20,000 AUR Guristas Saga - Caldari LAV - BPO 7-day active skill booster HK4M Shotgun x 50 Hacked Drop Uplink x 50 Fused Locus Grenade x 50 1.5dn Myofibril Stimulant x 50
Vs the starter pack 1x Exile rifle - BPO 1x 7-day Active Booster 20x "Neo" Assault Type-I dropsuits - BPC 20x "Neo" Scout Type-I dropsuits - BPC 20x "Neo" Heavy Type-I dropsuits - BPC - 2000 AUR
The only selling point is the exile. Other than that, which pack do you think you would buy?

You guys do realize this is all marketing. I'm not saying CCP is trying to rob you but look at your message and the think about it. Everyone is saying the Starter Pack isn't worth it and it better to just buy the Mercenary pack. So now everyone is buying the Mercenary pack instead and we're all happy. Only thing is you're paying an extra 10 bucks. Which is nothing and shouldn't e considered a problem except for the fact that you originally planned to only spend 10. So now you're paying double in order to get you money's worth. This will only push sales for the Mercenary pack doubling the profit gained from everyone who "saved" and bought the Mercenary Pack instead. Then even if you decided to buy the Starter or like myself you received it for free because you're a PlayStation Plus member. Then, you'll find that you're failing into the same trap as free trials. Think about it. You get 60 suit but for most of you only 20 matter because they're for your chosen class. You lose them within 2-3 or maybe 4 games if you don't use them or die often. Then now that you've had a taste of the Premium stuff you're more likely to repurchase it again. Even if you have absolutely no plans on doing it. After all, 5 bucks goes a long way in Dust. Okay, so now you've run out and need to purchase more but you don't have that small share of Aurum from the same pack. so maybe you decide it's nothing to just buy some more suits. You spend up the Aurum and you're faced with the same problem again. Only this time you've experienced using premium gear and buying premium gear. So like I said what's 5 bucks more. And for those of you who are saying I wouldn't spend my Aurum on some lame suits. Then, what would you spend it on no matter the gear the same result will appear. 2,000 Aurum can only be used to buy expendable items. The same thing goes for the 7 day booster. After you've realized how much more SP you could gain you'll definitely want another even if you don't want to buy it. Hell, if you hit your cap every week you'll see that that booster allow you to gain a much larger amount. You go from 190,400 SP every week without boosters to 285,600 SP with boosters.
Like I said I'm not saying CCP is money hungry or is doing this on purpose. But you should really think about this. |

I was surprised that there were no logistics suits in the pack. It seems like the main point of the pack is "here try the standard level suit of each class without spending SP".
I think it will be worth buying for anyone who doesn't already own the exile and that is their primary weapon type. But like many have said, the mercenary pack feels like a much nicer value even when doubling up what you get with the starter pack.
The conspiracy theory side of me suspects that the reasoning behind this pack is actually to get new and inexperienced players into the idea of using the consumable Aurum items. CCP will get at least a few people who try the 'Neo' Heavy for example and buy at least a few more of those suits to keep using that class. |

Add an additional 20x Neo Type 1 Logi suits (lets the player try out each role and gives an additional 20 deaths before they have to revert to starter fits).
Remove (or reduce) the AUR included but add 1x Passive booster, new players really need this to get started.
With these alterations I think this pack would provide both a great intro and a great value.

Well since Externe encouraged feedback:
I agree with the OP and others who say that the starter pack is not a value at $10, but again I've already had an exile. What I really would like to see is a greater variety of Merc packs. Right now our merc pack gives gear that is good mostly for the "up close" scout build. How about some merc pack variety all of which would come with the 30-day booster and 40K aurum. For example:
Assault merc pack: Swap out the shotgun for 50 of the gauss rifle 50 fused locus grenades 50 basic armor plates 50 neo type-1 assault suits Keep the toxin or introduce a scrambler pistol equivalent
Logistics merc pack: Swap out the shotgun for 50 of an equivalent flaylock pistol 50 fused flux grenades 50 CPU ubgrade modules 50 neo type-1 logi suits Keep the toxin or introduce a scrambler pistol equivalent
Heavy merc pack: Swap out shotgun for 50 of equivalent plasma cannon 50 fused AV grenades 50 Basic damage mods or something 50 neo type-1 heavy suits Keep the toxin or introduce a scrambler pistol equivalent
I think you get my drift, put together a pack for every class, would be a great way to introduce those new weapons we've been salivating for, for a couple months now maybe. And I would bet CCP would make some decent cash too. |

I made a post about this last night but it was buried
usrevenge2 wrote:First off, yes for now with PSN+ it's free, but the price in the store is actually $10.
Lets look at what you get and compare it to the $20 mercenaries pack
Starter Pack 1x Exile rifle - BPO 1x 7-day Active Booster 20x "Neo" Assault Type-I dropsuits - BPC 20x "Neo" Scout Type-I dropsuits - BPC 20x "Neo" Heavy Type-I dropsuits - BPC - 2000 AUR
lets be honest here, the best things here are the aur, booster, and rifle BPO.
Mercenary pack (from gamestop since it's the best version I know of) 40000 Aurum to spend in-game, a 30-day skill booster 'Dragonfly' Scout dropsuit x 1 (Unlimited) Syndicate' Submachine Gun x 1 (Unlimited) 'Toxin' ICD-9 Submachine Gun x 1 (Unlimited) HK4M Shotgun x 50 Hacked Drop Uplink x 50 Fused Locus Grenade x 50 1.5dn Myofibril Stimulant x 50
you get 38,000 more aurum, a 30 day instead of 7 day booster, dropsuit BPO, and SMG BPO for only $10 more.
I think it's a little lopsided when you look at it. why would buy the starter kit over the merc pack? I think the starter kit needs a boost, instead of 2000 aur give 20,000 aur instead of just a 7 day active booster give a 7 day active and 7 day passive. this increases the value much more and puts it in line with the mercenary pack, at least IMO.
