if this is the only way to get an exile rifle then its not bad a spend. it would replace my bought with isk ar's and save me up to a quarter of my winnings per match. adding something eles to the pack would make it a must buy for myself. though i am tempted to get it anyway. |

CCP Eterne wrote:Just so you guys know, we are monitoring the feedback on pricing of these packs versus the perceived quality of the goods we're offering in them. So thanks on any feedback, even if it's "This isn't worth it!" It helps us decide on what to put in future packs and how to properly price them.
Just a suggestion. Why not have a pack for every class that would give noobs a choice of heavy, assault, logi, and Scout. Each with specific militia weapons, mods, grenades, Dropsuits for that class. Maybe some know what they want to do or be in Dust and all the other stuff is just fodder to them. ?
PS: The Merc Pack is the only pack newberries should buy. |

Going back to the Starter Pack... Having gotten it free via PS+, I would never have spent $10 on it. Then again, I already have an Exile BPO from the closed beta, which is probably the most valuable part of the pack. I also have the Skinweave BPO's, so the Neo suits are less valuable to me (even if they're better). I don't know, maybe this would be worth it for someone who has none of these.
In my opinion, though, you're trying to offer more than $10 worth of value, but in a way that only newer players would be able to reap the full benefit. Here are a few alternative ideas for improvements (choose no more than one):
1) Go with the pattern in the EVE starter pack and give a 30-day booster instead of a 7-day.
2) Give players everything they need to try out several different kinds of fits. You're already giving them 20 of each Assault, Heavy, and Scout suits, load them up with 5 each of several different kinds of weapons (maybe an HMG, forge gun, shotgun, SMG, and laser rifle) so they can get a sense of the options. Stuff that isn't in the four standard starter fits.
3) Give them 5 low-level vehicles of each type (LAV, HAV, dropship), again so they can get a sense of the options. Maybe specially fitted for a new player.
4) Or simply give more aurum. The stuff is more useful in Dust than in EVE. I'm against this in general, though, because the starter pack should be about helping the new player figure things out, and giving more aurum doesn't do that.
On another note, I think we should also be including Logistics-class elements. A starter pack that gives me a chance to try out all the basic classes before I really start my specialization would be truly valuable, and Logistics is a part of that.
Another option is to do with the starter packs what people are suggesting with the Merc packs, which is specialization. With the starter pack, however, there would inherently be less specialization. So you could have a frontline pack, a support pack, a pilot pack, etc. And they'd each give you the ability to try out a variety within that category (example, frontline could be assault/scout/heavy, support could be sniper/logistics/AV, pilot could provide a variety pack of vehicles). You'd have to classify it in a way that you'd be hitting people who prefer a certain style (middle of the action, away from the action, etc.) with each pack.
Just some of my thoughts on the topic. |

you should reduce the price on merc packs by at least 5 bucks like seriously? 20 bucks? there's DLC for half that on other games. that come with hours of more content. id understand if we got fused locus BPO's for it but id have to buy one every week just to keep those in stock! reduce the price just buy 5 bucks please and ill buy twice the amount im buying now. |

Personally I think these packs would be much better value if they had Dropsuit BPOs instead of the weapon BPOs |

Why in the merc pack did the scout get an smg which is a sidearm instead of a shotgun? |

The new starter pack sucks, however, that maybe because I already have an exile. The cost is much too high for the other things. Very little aur and just a 7 day booster. For half the price of the merc pack, i'd expect it to be atleast half as good. The merc pack is pretty good at determining the value to cost ratio.
I'd rather see different types of merc pack's. 30 day booster, 40k aur but with different items and bpo's to fit your playstyle. Even if the bpo's are just the same as the militia bpo, but with a different name, i'd think ppl would like this better. |

Not worth it IMO. 20x suits? New people will burn through those immediately. Exile BPO? Will be worthless to them after a week. 2k Aurum? I don't use the stuff for anything other than booster, so no comment.
For $10, you get 21k Aurum; aka 3 weeks of boosters. THAT, imo, is better value. |

give em good stuff they can't get outside of the pack, like those fused grenades. that plus aurum is like crack to people. They'll get hooked. |

It feels like a money grab. except for the Exile, its pretty much worthless. You would not get this as a starter. Youd get a Merc pack. Only get this if it was free. And by time the Merc pack was half done, the Exile would be useless too.
Seems like a promo event for Sony to increase PS+ membership so CCP is taking them to the bank offering nothing for "10 dollars"...
So far only money grabs by CCP, no content or substance yet. |
