Honestly I don't think so. I was always under the impression (and was told) that only those in your squad can spot enemies to show up on the radar.
I have witnessed this in experience too, a whole group of blues could be hammering down on a group of reds, yet the only time they show up is when a squad member gets eyes on them. Isn't this orbital 101 kind of stuff? Get squad members to get eyes on red dots so they show up on the map, and therefore the one with an orbital can get a better idea where to put it? Many times i have had a surprise red dot, or multiple red dots, show up behind or in front of me despite a blue dot, or multiple blue dots, looking right at them.
Also I have been in squads of 1 before and never saw red dots unless I got eyes on them myself (or my scanners picked them up in close proximity).
I dunno, unless something isn't working correctly for me, blue dots getting eyes on a red dot never made them show up on my radar or map. I find blue dots shooting at red dots all the time and I only see the red dot on radar/HUD/map when I, or a squad member, look at them. |

Most likely the latter, there was an attempt to declutter the battlefield view to most relevant. Which may produce some odd results. |

So, today I get into a pub match. I see a squad going, say "alright lets check this out", join it, and GUESS WHAT!? People have comms! It was a good game, well coordinated and fun. But team chat needs to be set on as default. Unless it already is, I switched from Corp to squad directly, so wouldn't know. |

So is there any difference between a squad member spotting a red dot and a bluedot spotting one? Maybe a red dot spotted by a squad member always shows up on my HUD/radar/map, but the bluedot spotting a red only shows up under the circumstances you are saying (most relevant battlefield intel).

There shouldn't both should appear on the mini-map, however the clutter they're cutting back on is the outer ring sensing. |

As a logi, I don't like the current setup. Most of the abilities we use only award us points in groups. Many of the games I played today people were reluctant to join a group or create a group.
With the old setup I could at least invite myself in to a group that had another player in it, and hope that others take notice of a group forming to add themselves. I would much prefer a system in which those without pre-made squads are automatically combined in to squads.
Many players completely ignore the Team and Squad windows. |

How hard it is to put people in to full squads automatically?
I'm seeing some squads get three orbitals a game and yet I rarely have anyone in my squad to get one.
It's asking too much of new players to join squads manually. Yes, I know how that sounds. Sad truth. |

PS removal is awful. If you add yourself in to a squad, and the game ends. the system does not let you join other games, as you are not the leader.
Also, as most people dont squad up, there are fewer orbital strikes and no objectives set. On many games, I just follow the herd, or run where there are lots of blues, as there is no organisation. |

Pretty much every single match yesterday was full of multi-corp teams so I doubt it made a significant change. |

So they couldn't get this to work properly and took the easy way out /clap for having the balls to do that. Considering how many people can't even get their mics to work on their own... doubt they'll manage to join/ form their own squad. |

Lurchasaurus wrote:I am not sure, but if each solo pubbie is not put into a squad from the get-go, the game will have to sort out less voice comm channels, since there will be fewer one or two man squads. Its mostly an efficiency thing I think. Should ease up stress on the hardware and who knows....this might give more stability to our comms since the backend is not as cluttered.
If blueberries aren't automatically in a squad, they will not only be forced to learn the mechanisms to get in one, but this might finally give meaning back to team chat. Hopefully. I will see your conspiracy-theory, Lurch, and up the ante by saying that I've come to believe that CCP is worried about the load placed on Vivox's voice servers, and the fact that maintaining(very high quality, we all have to admit) voice comms for 30,000+ players might be expensive.
There must be some kind of calculation going on inn CCP's head like: 'What's it gonna cost when we have a million players? How do we intelligently set up our voice comms model now so we don't run into trouble later?'
There - my forum tinfoil contribution for the day.
P.S: Having more peeps in Team Channel is nice though, like the old days.

Love this change. As someone who has low FPS skills, I tend to focus on support. With 90% of the team all being in the "no squad" squad, that means they can all use my CRUs
Awesome to make it behind enemy lines, place a well hidden CRU and then watch 8+ people jump in to help out. |

What I have thus seen is 1 boon and 1 bane
Boon: People in team chat can talk to each other and form private teams
Bane: People in team chat that reeeally need to learn mic etiquette broadcast their nastiness to everyone. By this I mean I had to listen to someone mouth breathe and make horrid gargled snorting noises every minute or so while people tried to talk over him. It was horrifying. |

You can (and should) mute people who do that. If it's bad enough to be annoying, it should be easy to spot who it is. Just look for who's mic icon goes green while the offending sounds are happening |

Can you mute individual people? I've only seem total mute that turns off everything. Also a lot of those green things go off constantly just cause you can hear them playing the same game lol |

I think this is a positive change for all the randoms, to increase voice use awareness and get some level of organization going. Doesn't matter anyway, randoms are terrible. |

my observations
-new players do not squad up, missing the chance to have orbital strikes. -More experienced players squad up, and get to use orbital strikes, giving them an advantage -People still do not generally communicate or set objectives. There is no strategy, except for following larger groups of players, to stay alive.
I have a headset and set objectives, but most people do not.
I would suggest automatic squad creation, that way you introduce new players to squads, and squad objectives. That encourages teamwork.
