I have a Sony Bluetooth headset/mic. Every time I'm in game I have push to talk set to on and I always have a red X in the bubble beside my name. Only once have I ever heard anyone and that once was also the only time I has heard. I've never altered any settings to allow or stop this one time event or me never being able to use voice comms. As you can imagine this pretty much cripples me as a prospective squad member and have seen no point in trying to help out my corp as I can't communicate effectively in battle.
I'm inclined to think this is a Dust issue but even after a recent re-install the problem persists. Any clues as to what I can do to fix this?
Going nuts!!
Cheers,

Ah, I think the problem might be this simple:
Did you switch your headset on before you started up DUST?
If not, do that and see how it works. |

Turn push to talk off for starters, it's way easier with it off. And are you sure that you've configured all of dust's settings properly? |

Turned off push to talk. Talked. One member of my squad with mic symbol but no reply. Will try again.
I haven' t really configured much beyond what it's always been. Should there be something specific? |

You can mess with your accessory and bluetooth settings on your PS3 while in game, so hit the PS button and go over to settings, accessory settings, bluetooth, and then try disconnecting and reconnecting the mike. Also, go into audio device settings (still in accessory settings) and make sure that both input and output are set to the mic. All of this can be done without even leaving dust. |

As near as I can figure (I see this all the time), when you have voice enabled on Team it shuts it off in Squad.
I use PTT and I see the red X all the time, but I've had plenty of convos with people.
If you are talking in Squad, try switching to Team because that increases the odds that someone hears you. It may simply be that you are screaming into the void right now. It doesn't matter how well your mic is working if no one is listening. |

In game. Small mic displayed on screen. No red X anywhere. Push to talk off.been on team and squad. Either no one talking to me or no one is talking at all. Can hear the game but no one else. |

No one talks unless you squad up with them pre-game. Join LFSquad chat to find a mic squad. |

This is what happens to me, tested with my buddy. If I have the squad/notification/chat windows open, it gives me a red X and no one can hear me. When I close the chat windows, everyone can hear me. Friggin weird. |

Missing something here obviously. Never enough time to squad up when entering a battle. Where/how is this done before hand and then enter a game as a group?

While in your merc quarter, You can go to Squad in the chat tab by hitting (select) on your DS3. Choose Create A Squad, and invite players. Or have players invite you to theirs. You cannot join a squad if you are in one. So even if you are in one solo, and someone invites you. You cannot do it. You have to leave yours first.
Edit: Once in a squad, you will have to go to the main squad tab, and select Activate Voice. |

Push to talk does not work though when you're in one of the menus, like the chat window or the neocom. It also doesn't work during loading screens or the end of battle scoreboard. |

Ok thanks, done than but see no option to invite anyone. How is that done? |

At any time (in game or out of game):
Press the PS button. Go to Settings > Accessories > Manage Bluetooth Devices. Make sure the blue light is on next to your headset. If the blue light is off/missing, select your headset in the list and press TRIANGLE > Connect. Wait for connection to complete. Press the PS button, return to game.
My headset and PS3 will never autoconnect, so every time I play Dust I have to connect it manually this way. This is not the same as joining - that only needs to be done once. |
