i feel like we should be able to sprint and throw granades at the same time i shouldn't have to stop in place to stop sprint and then throw one it messed up even if you make the sprint stop when you click to throw one that would even help as of now you have to stop sprinting wait a sec and then throw one it really sucks for timeing in a fire fight i have to stop and get shot just to throw a granade come on CCP fix this please its really the only unfulid part of the battle macanics everything else needs a little work this one problem here is just a really big one that needs to be fixed to make battle smoother please and thank you |

This is not a big problem at all. In fact I'd go as far as to say this is not a problem, period. You ever tried doing something with both hands when running at full sprint? You really think a person could be coordinated enough to holster their weapon, pull out a grenade, pull the pin and throw it with any degree of accuracy without slowing down at all?
Go on, try it. (probably with something other than a gun and grenade). Please report back how many times you fall over or smack into something because you weren't paying enough attention to where you were running. |

We're freakin space mercs with crazy enhancements, we should be able to do it; especially with hundreds or thousands of lives worth of muscle memory. At the very least grenades should cancel running, I hate having to stop completely before I can throw a grenade. The fact that it interferes with gameplay is more important than whatever "realism" excuse people bring up.
I also hate when a topic important to me has been brought up in such a crappy disorganized post with no punctuation. OP, please edit posts to punctuate to make your self more understandable, and change the all caps. |

Do you realise that Dust mercs normal speed is running?
The faster speed beyond that is SPRINTING.

Translation: Every troop in the US military can do what you said can't be done, and in a real war, you would never stop like you must in this game because of snipers. I understand slowing down, but stopping completely after sprint to walk and throw a grenade is ridiculous. Furthermore, there is a delay between pressing the grenade button after stopping, and when the grenade is actually thrown. |

In Dust you don't have to completely stop to throw a grenade, you can still throw it whilst moving at around 5m/s, which for most people is pretty quick running. Yes, this is perfectly possible both in reality and in the game but try running full sprint and tell me you can do all those things - full sprint being over 7m/s, which is roughly a 14 second hundred metres. Please do this with full combat gear and all those other actions I listed that are required to throw a grenade successfully.
Also, caps and lack of punctuation do not a good point make. |

It is hard enough to do a 14 second hundred metres anyway. You can not do this stuff whilst running that fast - also how about all those people using big weapons like swarm launchers? Is that shoulder mounted weapon tethered to your character to be dropped quickly without affecting your running speed? And running with a big thing dangling down next to your legs is not optimal, so you won't be doing 7m/s anymore. Doing anything at all, even just looking to the side will slow you down when running as fast as you possibly can.
Also, ever notice how QBs have to pretty much stop to be able to throw the ball? That's because you can't throw very well without planting your feet to give you that extra oomph. If you really want to be able to throw grenades whilst sprinting, your accuracy would have to be as bad as the dispersion on missile turrets. |

Tid bit on military training: Move and shoot Move and reload Move and throw a grenade is not standard but I'm sure it's trained to somewhere
Notice I said move and not sprint. Sprinting is used only when you have no cover or trying to cover ground. If it's to cover ground it's used with covering fire since you can't aim while sprinting with any reliability. Military is trained to fight behind cover or concealment to help supplement their body armor. Stuff you see of duel wielding guns, shooting from the hip, and the like are movie stuff. I'm not saying people don't do it or that it's impossible I'm just saying it pretty much never happens in combat. Plus people suck at hitting in combat even if they are looking down the sights.

No, definitely not sprint and reload! Like I said before - you can not do anything else whilst running at your fastest possible speed.
And okay, I hadn't realised that trying to throw a grenade whilst sprinting not only stops the sprint but stops you period - if this is so, then that does need fixing. Finally we agree ;) |

I have to agree as well. There is a real problem in this game with pressing buttons and the game doing what you pressed on the controller. I find that 90% of the time I will press a button to through a grenade or reload and the game do anything. It is as if it is not registering the fact that I pressed the button at all. Not good. |

Hilarious when people are convinced everyone in the military can do 'x' while sprinting. I have seen enough of these threads that it seems there are segments of the population that believe soldiers can sprint while doing back flips, throwing grenades and baking a cake. Ahem. Hypebole/sarcasm alert for those who have issues picking up on that.
In real life, as that was an argument, you could throw a grenade while sprinting. However, as mentioned, your accuracy would be atrocious. So, if it is permitted, accuracy should be severely affected.
And for the record, to the screaming all caps, no puncutation guy (who I refuse to quote), I was a U.S. Army Infantryman, and no, we can't all sprint (run, yes) and throw grenades -- the risk of dropping it, failing to throw the grenade on target, or tripping over uneven terrain is significant (tripping, with a live grenade, by the way = very bad).
Still, it's a game, but if you are going to argue that it can be done in real life, I clearly disagree. Carry on. Hopefully with punctuation and less caps. |

That key cries at night... we should contact Input Protection Services.
On topic, being able to do anything while sprinting removes the reason sprinting exists in a video game; namely to sacrifice everything for a bit of speed. I'm going to say that actions like prepping a grenade, meleeing, reloading, etc. should cancel sprinting to basic running without having to stop, but you shouldn't be able to do them while sprinting. |

I would love to be able to stroll along at 16.4 feet per second or even briskly stroll at 19.68 feet per second. If you can do this, you must have legs at least 9 feet long. LOL I think you're confusing meters with feet. |

The idea behind sprinting is that your merc is putting every last bit of effort to move as fast as possible. Want to prove that reloading, shooting accurately, manipulating and throwing a grenade is possible while at a full sprint? Here's how you do it.
Make a video of yourself running at a full sprint for 60 feet over uneven terrain and note the time.
1. Take an airsoft magazine fed rifle. Carry it in hand, make that sprint, and note the time. Now, with the weapon in hand, make the sprint and attempt to shoot your friend, who will shoot back from cover, change out the magazine, fire more shots, and note the time and the fact that you can't do it while at a full sprint.
2. Take an airsoft magazine fed rifle. Carry it in slung, make that sprint, and note the time. Now, with the weapon in hand, make the sprint and attempt to sling the weapon, take the paint/airsoft grenade from your belt, or bandolier, pull the pin, and throw it accurately at your friend, who will shoot back from cover, and recover your weapon from slung, note the time and the fact that you can't do it while at a full sprint.
One can substitute any airsoft/paintball weapon with close to the same results. You find that at a full sprint over uneven terrain, you can't do any of what is being claimed as possible in this thread. |
