why not im not a sniper but im sure they would like to be able to lay down in a open battle field and snip without being easily seen and im sure in alot of ways being able to lay down could benefit combat in the game |

There are two things that the ability to go prone might result in. So far, no game has avoided both of these. You have to choose which one you want to introduce to the game:
1. Exploits ("dolphin diving" comes to mind), or 2. Slowing the pace of the game.
With DUST 514 already being a fairly slow-paced shooter, slowing it down further would be a bad thing. And I can't think of anyone worth talking about who would be happy with the addition of game-breaking hitbox exploits, so neither possible approach to prone seems appropriate. Unless you have a coherent plan for how to implement a prone option into DUST, and it avoids both of these problems, I'm sticking with my usual "terrible idea" vote. Cloaking devices are likely to be coming soon, and that will benefit snipers more than a prone option would anyway. |

all you have to do is run in zigzags and snipers cant hit you snipers are no big threat and will not be made more powerful by adding the ability to LAY down. think about it if you are assault like me and a heavy comes your way you take out his shield but he stills has is armor by this time you have to reload and the heavy has began to shot at you the only thing you can do is run if you wanna leave BUT what if right after reloading you lay down now the heavy has to aim down to shot you IF your weap can do enough damage you kill him befor he kills you THANKS TO LAYING DOWN. What if you get hit by a sniper your shield is now gone and maybe some of your health YOU CAN LAY DOWN the snip will have to move his aim back on you by this time you have gotten up and ran away |

i dont know what dolphin diving is please explain I dont think adding the ability to LAY DOWN will slow game play at all call of duty is a very fast pace game and you can lay down and whats wrong with prone it help improve the ability to LAY DOWN .
i dont think snipers being invisible will be unfair. thats a stupid idea people already think snipers are OVER POWERED with there ranged attacks |

In lasts CoD, for example in BO2, iyou perform a "dolphin diving" when you jump and going prone while mid-air.
Another reason I would not allow players to go prone is the Drop Shot: you go prone to reduce the area of your body that can be hit while shooting back to the enemy. Regardless how it could be useful in a 1on1, that would make Dust 514 a bad and slower copy of CoD. |

I'm a Shotgun Scout who's smart enough to deal with Snipers.
My girlfriend's a Sniper, and watching her play (quite well) has given me an appreciation for them.
Prone means laying down, it's not something that "helps" - they're the same thing.
Dophin Diving is an exploit when you have fast-paced gameplay with a prone option. Basically, you lay down while in mid-air, and it breaks the game's hitbox system, and can make you near-invulnerable because of your rapidly-changing body position, and also frequently makes players immune to headshots.
Snipers aren't overpowered, but the ability to go prone would make them more powerful. If you think they're already too powerful, why would you want them to be even better? |

Snipers are already had to hit due to hit detection issues, as well as being the easiest weapon to use ie no drop or travel time. LOL |

No bad idea.
Drop shotting (which im pretty sure is why you want this) should stay in the arena of cod.
Have you seen the giant suitsbwe wear. They don't lend themselves to mobility except the scout suit.
And if they do for som horrible reason add this at least my MD will still be effective. |

There are two approaches that game developers have found to implementing a prone function. One results in Drop Shots being a viable tactic, and can result in dolphin diving depending on the specifics of how it's done. The other slows the game down.
So, as I said, you have those two options, or you can explain a new set of mechanics which allow us to avoid both of the problems which would negatively impact the game.
Until you define EXACTLY how your suggestion works, and can convince me that it WOULDN'T cause problems, I'm going to keep telling you that nobody has made it work properly yet. Every game with a prone function has to work around one of those two possibilities. Some slow-paced tactical shooters can safely allow players to go prone because they're built around the prone mechanic. DUST isn't, so without a MASSIVE redesign of almost everything about the gameplay, it's not going to work. |

No prone. Going prone makes you a really hard target, which gives people who are prone a serious advantage at longer ranges versus people standing/crouched. This makes "camping" much more powerful, and slows the gameplay down a lot more, as people need to be far more cautious. I don't think that's a good direction to take Dust. |

I am for the abilty to go prone under one circumstance:
You can turn only for 10 degrees in each direction when prone. To turn more, you have to get up, turn and go prone again. |
