Well sir, perhaps Dust isn't the game for you. Your ISK is actually tied to your performance in game. If you come in 16th on your team you're getting pittance, but if you feel you've got enough then it wouldn't matter. |

Well, you'll go on another game after hiting the cap ? Does it sound good to u ? And stop QQing when we have a viable TEMPORARY solution.
How am I having fun if I know every WP i get over 1,000 is useless? Glory for the leaderbord ? Stats ? When you're the 1st one on pub match and on the win side, you got the most ISK !!!
what's my incentive to revive teammates for those few extra SP? Save team8 ISK/AUR ? Run the objectif with the most people you've got ? Revive a medic that will revive you a second after ?
What's my incentive to repair ****? To have always a heavy alive in front of you, taking bullets ? Oh yes sorry, you're the type of guy who stop repairing when you hit the SP time limitation, wait for it to come back, then repair again ... You're not a teamplayer...
to hack objectives? Win the game ?
to win a random pub objective game? Glory ? Leaderboard ? ISK ?
You'll have to excuse me if that doesn't motivate me very much. Well, MMO is not for you !!! Go try something else !!! |

I realize Dust's persistence, scope, and vision are all exciting and the future of the FPS genre, but remember when games didn't give you XP/SP or even log your stats and people played just for fun and to get better? Yeah, those were crazy times. If the game wasn't literally centered around SP, I would have no issue playing this game "for fun." You don't find the battles actually fun by themselves? going 3:1 or more literally every game with little to no effort is not entertaining to me, especially when i'm not getting justly rewarded from it. |

I play in public rooms to get a bunch of SP, ISK, and raise my KD/R. couldn't care less if my team full of newberries wins or not. The only time i focus on winning and nothing else would be inside of a corp battle, where winning actually matters, so all those things you listed are mostly null and void, except leaderboards and ISK..leaderboards just show how much 1 guy is willing to play, and ISK would come just fine once I hit my 1K WP in a game.
Again, there is no reason for me NOT to idle the MCC after i get my 1k WP. |

If you're enjoying playing this game, then just play it !!! We'll always have a "SP cap", we have to deal with it.
The fact is we don't have all the tools to have a full fun in this game : player market, PVE, Mercenary FW... Just have to wait.

People on this game seem quite fixated on KD but appear to completely miss the WL stat - since killing people is not the only way to be useful in this game, it makes sense to almost completely ignore KD and instead to focus on WL. A player with a high WL stat will always be better than a high KD low WL ratio.
As for the whole idling thing - I can't imagine it being very fun to sit in the MCC doing absolutely nothing. Just because I'm not being rewarded for running around shooting people up, doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy it still. |

If increasing numbers is all that interests you and you'll stop playing when they stop increasing, try a game my grandad taught me when i was 4 to keep me quiet.
Take a calculator (it works with most so try another if it fails). Turn it on 1) Press "1" 2) Press "+" 3) Press "+" 4) Press "1" 5) Press "="
Your calculator should now display the number 2.
Now each time you hit "=" going forward you will recieve and extra skill point so you will have 3 then 4 then 5 and so on. This will continue until you calculator runs out of digits to display you UBER sp total. However I can guarentee thsi wont happen in your life time.
Problem solved. No diminishing returns, no "loss" of SP for being good and press ='s faster than your friends.
What a horrible society we live in nowaday why is everyone Take Take Take.
Whats wrong with playing a game because you enjoy it. Enjoyment being the reward you can have fun for hours. Why does it become less enjoyable if some arbitary figure stops going up as quick? |

I spend 3k a clone on equipment ie the worst sorta gear. I work 9-5 so my SP total is on the low side. Does it stop me going 37-4 25-1 12-0 15-6, on a regular basis. Does it stop my team from winning more than we lose? (only just above 1 but thats just pub matches for you)
The answer to these questions is no, and do you know why?
FPS games are about twitch skill and positioning. You can have your 100,000,000,000,000 SP you can have your Special Proto gear that 20% better than mine, but do you know what you cannot shoot through walls and if you cannot aim at my avatar then guess who will be wasting another expensive clone. That would be YOU. So hide behind your red line with you 1k SP cap and lets see who dominates in 3 months time through pure practise alone.

Now we are getting somewhere, slowly you're understanding, An ever increasing number is pointless as far as "Fun" goes.
Lets put it another way.
FPS mark 1 - You destroy your enemies 10-1, you get all objectives, make 100 repairs and revive 50 people. FPS mark 1 rewards you with 10SP
FPS mark 2 - You destroy your enemies 10-1, you get all objectives, make 100 repairs and revive 50 people. FPS mark one rewards you with 10000000000SP
Which game is more fun?
Its all about fun why are you worried about SP?
So lets imagine there is no cap You destroy your enemies 10-1, you get all objectives, make 100 repairs and revive 50 people. your rewarded with 10000000000SP now you bought all skills in the game and they are all at level 5, you have SP left over. Is the game no longer any fun? If so save your self some time and take the capitalised advice your think we were giving you "UNINSTALL NOW" before you waste your time.
But it is looking like the calculator game is for you, the game is irrelevant you just want a way to flex your epeen ie "look at me a play 24 hours I day and I have a bigger number than you arn't I awesome." |

If i got 1 billion or 10 per match, i don't care, but i want it to be consistent and i don't want my ability to be 'capped' so my SP gain is no higher than an average player.

steadyhand amarr wrote:Your arguments are not making any sense olPlease clearly spell out your issue with out all im leet gamer bravado How is anything i've said difficult to grasp? My argument may seem different because people keep attacking and nit-picking things i'm not even trying to imply, or they automatically dismiss me as some kind of irate crybaby, which is certainly not the case either.
i have re-stated what my argument is multiple times:
the low 1000 SP cap snubs hardcore players into being bottlenecked in with average players no matter how good you are and also allows CCP to take more of your money for boosters because it will take you longer to reach your desired goal/spec. this is a very obvious, blatant fact, and quite frankly i'm shocked anyone can even attempt to argue against something so OBVIOUS.
I can understand the general community wanting to level the playing field with a 1,000 SP cap, but as a hardcore player of every game I participate in, I'm really, really sick of getting snubbed so casual players can be on the same tier of skills and gear as I am (not that it will matter in terms of me killing them because MUH FPS SKILLS, but it's the principal behind it.)
if we can't have a civil discussion about something as simple as this without people rolling in telling me to outright quit because i don't agree with the SP cap, I legitimately fear for the longevity of this community. |
