Can you back these claims up with any evidence at all? |

Considering they have a 10 year plan for the game, I'm pretty sure they would have a plan for migration to the next playstation that would include a period of time where the game runs on the ps3 and ps4, and say after a year or 2 they'll phase out the ps3 and fully upgrade the client to take advantage of the next system. |

Let me help here.
Rumor has it that the new project titan from blizzard is an MMOFPS set to compete against either planetside 2. Since the popularity of blizzard games is extensively massive and that blizzard does have 10 years of mmo building in their belt they can release a rather comprehensiveness MMO FPS game capable of killing off planetside 2 entirely.
Planetside 2 has a 6 month road map full of features that would make just about any fps shooter mad and red and heck since the core issue with that game is 'why win, ergo why play?' is not being addressed at all. Instead we are seeing a large number of whines being addressed by players unwilling to adapt and a generic increase of laziness as they introduce new guns and vehicles that are the same across the three factions and are not even considering half of the goals Dust 514 is going twoards. All in all a new vehicle, a new pistol and smg and launcher, few cannons for the sunder and one continent and making it harder to lose.
Meanwhile Call of Duty is making another iteration back to ww2 it seems with a new studio in charge, they have yet to release a cod title as the main developer, many feel they would just rip the mordern warfare 3 engine again and do what tryarch does. Copy and paint over. While offering no new game breaking strides that makes it stand out as a real sequel. The last such iteration was the progressive system in cod 4. Its expected that mw2 servers will be shut down by then.
Battlefield Bad Company 3 is scheduled to be out soon and by gawd its the worst idea once again and its expected the multiplier would be a slightly spruced up version of BF3s current. Also Battlefield 4 is currently in the works now and it may most likely get delayed to shift over to the new console. Battlefield's new plan is to release a new title every year to compete with the likes of Call of Duty.
Fallout 4 (RPGshooter) is going back to Washington waste lands however it may not be out this year.
As for other shooters... on any platform there is nothing that's going to make them big in 2014. Halo wars 2 is said to be out in 2014 to meet microsoft's annual title goal. As well as possible season 2 of spartan ops for halo 4 to keep the fans happy. Halo 5 may not be out until 2016.
Matter of factually most titles mentioned above will get drowned out by thier newer versions in 2014 and 2015 subsequently so who gives a damn? I mean look at the original MMOFPSers for PC. Huxley, Planetside 1, and Global Agenda are all getting or has a sequel which usually indicates a royal screw up somewhere and that some sequel is going to fix it. |

Hmmm... No empirical evidence that anyone at CCP desired to commit self mutilation by aiming a firearm at their phalanges and pulling a trigger...
No evidence that they sought to do this in order to create an opening in that portion of the anatomy rather than a bloody mangled stump, or any other sort of injury that could result from a such an act.
No evidence that DUST is dead.
Or that it will be replaced.
But some evidence that there is a lot of competition in the FPS and shooter market in general, especially on PC. And the implication that DUST will never have a sequel, unlike many of the other titles, and is thus a lot less likely to be directly replaced.
Not sure if you were playing a sort of double devil's advocate and arguing in favor of the naysayer's assertions by offering a picture that when seen from a certain perspective shows those assertions to be baseless, or, maybe just grabbed the wrong part of the thread in your quote? |

It isn't on PC, I guess, because making a game for PC as well would require too much effort in terms of hardware compatibility. Despite what people in this thread have suggested, Planetside 2 is vastly different than Dust, and the two wouldn't be competing anymore than Serious Sam competes with Medal of Honor games. Technically the same genre, but a totally different experience.
Eventually Dust will get a PC port. It already has keyboard/mouse support, all it really needs is PC infrastructure and the ability to scale to the various PC configurations out there. It's simply a question of effort on CCP's part. They would only gain players by tapping into PC, and given that EVE is a PC game, they'd be sure to get a lot of new people from that game right away.

If Blizzard makes a MMOFPS, what makes you so sure they'd have it be PC-only? They wanted to make a console FPS game with Starcraft: Ghost. Who's to say Titan wouldn't be a PC/console MMOFPS spin-off of Starcraft or something? You're making an awfully big assumption that Dust will be able to hide out from Titan by staying away from the PC market.
Furthermore, Titan is years away. Maybe 2015 or 2016 it'll be released. Dust would have a fairly solid and involved playerbase by then. People who play games like this, where there's long-term progression and a lot of corporation-level stuff like Dust will eventually have, tend to be reluctant to leave their characters/friends. That's why games like EverQuest and Ultima Online, ancient games from the start of the MMORPG genre, still have enough people playing them to keep them profitable.

I'd like it on PC because my computer could play Dust with much better graphics at a much higher frame rate. I find the frame rate of Dust to impede my ability to play sometimes, and the game doesn't look particularly impressive. Performance and graphics are decent enough reasons to want it on PC. |

Anyone with a high internet bandwidth can handle a simple circle shooting another circle in rediculous vs rediculous numbers.
Now slap on different gun properties and soldier properties and well.. that number reduces with every new stat track, or combat variable and then dimension and state.
In theory the 128 vs 128 as mag did it is quite possible on xbox because mag cheats. matter of factly all console games try to cheat anyway they can in order to maintain performance standards. |
