It isn't on PC, I guess, because making a game for PC as well would require too much effort in terms of hardware compatibility. Despite what people in this thread have suggested, Planetside 2 is vastly different than Dust, and the two wouldn't be competing anymore than Serious Sam competes with Medal of Honor games. Technically the same genre, but a totally different experience.
Eventually Dust will get a PC port. It already has keyboard/mouse support, all it really needs is PC infrastructure and the ability to scale to the various PC configurations out there. It's simply a question of effort on CCP's part. They would only gain players by tapping into PC, and given that EVE is a PC game, they'd be sure to get a lot of new people from that game right away.

Since the popularity of blizzard games is extensively massive and that blizzard does have 10 years of mmo building in their belt they can release a rather comprehensiveness MMO FPS game capable of killing off planetside 2 entirely.
If Blizzard makes a MMOFPS, what makes you so sure they'd have it be PC-only? They wanted to make a console FPS game with Starcraft: Ghost. Who's to say Titan wouldn't be a PC/console MMOFPS spin-off of Starcraft or something? You're making an awfully big assumption that Dust will be able to hide out from Titan by staying away from the PC market.
Furthermore, Titan is years away. Maybe 2015 or 2016 it'll be released. Dust would have a fairly solid and involved playerbase by then. People who play games like this, where there's long-term progression and a lot of corporation-level stuff like Dust will eventually have, tend to be reluctant to leave their characters/friends. That's why games like EverQuest and Ultima Online, ancient games from the start of the MMORPG genre, still have enough people playing them to keep them profitable.

I'd like it on PC because my computer could play Dust with much better graphics at a much higher frame rate. I find the frame rate of Dust to impede my ability to play sometimes, and the game doesn't look particularly impressive. Performance and graphics are decent enough reasons to want it on PC. |
