CCP ... please, no. High heels have no more place on a battlefield than makeup does on a tank.
This is as bad as John Woo-style dual wielding. Scratch that, it's worse. Hey, I'd love to have warpaint on my tank! |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:For example: Why do I have to be a fit, toned and muscular-looking guy with armour that emphasises my pecs and abs? Why can't I be clinically underweight, or a bulkier less-attractive physique with an Assault suit? Fit, tone and muscular makes some sense though. The clones were using are genetically crafted for warfare. Hence they would be in peak physical condition. However, the emphasis on abs and pecs is a somewhat valid argument. Though, to me, I don't care as that is how the male clones body is shaped and extra armor over the arms and chest makes sense. And before you go "Well now, speaking of armored chests..." I'm focusing on the high heels when I made this thread so I'll let others start the ridiculous DD chested female scout suit thread.
High heels have no place in combat. Add in the "sexy" hip sway and it's just distracting and unnecessary oversexualization. I'm not expecting CCP to go redo the existing scout model (though that would be nice), I'm just hoping that the art department takes a moment when designing the future suit models and thinks "does this look like a combat suit made for gritty, unforgiving warfare" and leaves oversexualized armor to lower class games like TERA Online. |

OK i think this may just be a fix to a observation in general even in the military, females are of slighter build and shorter than males they just are while the characters in DUST the females are of slight build but they are ruffly the same hight with the high heels if they make them to much smaller than the male then there would be arguments that it is not balenced hell even with the slight build people argued that.
Also if you want to say the female characters are over sexualised then whats you solution make them the same hight and build as the male that is rare in reality at least it is if you are taking a traditional male soldier as the norm which DUST most likely is |

The first argument that has made any sense. Hit box balancing could be a reason, but I still think there are better ways to solve that. But still, good reason.
As for the "rare in reality" part. These are genetically altered clones so the females could easily be of comparable size to the men. It's not like 5' 10" is crazy tall for a woman or crazy short for a man. They could match.. without high heels. |

Some people do walk like they are in heels when they aren't. I walk barefoot with my heel about 2 inches in air and I'm a guy.
The Gallente are really over-sexualized, when we get other races scouts I expect them to be more modest and smaller cup size. Only the Gallente would give engineered clone soldier breast implants. There have been cases a implant stopped a bullet, but there are better ways to armour a torso. The Caldari female seems more like a female clone soldier, and the Minmatar is hard to tell is female, I hope this trend continues with other suits. Amarr modesty could make all suits look the same, or close to it.
It would be nice if we could select the walk animation for char and gender separably. Then someone could pick a female avatar with male animation for a less sexy walk, and less hand waving. The hand motion seems more out of place then walk to me.
If the heals retracted when running, they would seem more practical, or if they were made like a shock absorber instead of solid. |

So ... finally got the opportunity to take a close look at some female scouts' heels (the Elizabethans would have been scandalized. Women's heels? Visible heels?), and ...
Um. They're wearing a sort of high-top shoe.
What's more, the female scout high-top shoe is nearly identical to the male assault high-top shoe.
From the overall structure, it is unclear to me whether the heel is high, the top is armored, or there's some kind of balance-- the foot is elevated a bit, but there is "extra boot" both under the heel and above the foot. This seems a bit of a stretch to describe as sexualized, particularly given how much else there is to complain about.
Being as this topic led me to expect a six-inch stiletto, I are disappoint-- and also embarrassed that I took it at face value.
If CCP didn't, say, respond to the outcry and change this in the last patch, this is a tempest in a petri dish. |

Put high heels on the male suits too. If it's good enough for the Zentraidi it's good enough for me.

Yes, yes, yes to all the complaints about the heels. It's unnecessary and somewhat patronizing. I agree. If we had dress uniforms, well, at least then it's tradition, but on combat gear, it's silly.
But then, I'm a silly person, so I call for ALL SUITS OF BOTH GENDERS TO HAVE HIGH HEELED BOOTS! |

Why would you resurrect a two month old thread just to say "big deal"? We know it's a big deal. We're all tired of sexism and male gaze in our video games. |
