Goonswarm has never had a significant fps presence as far I've seen. They have 9000 players in a slightly better than tabtarget game called Eve.
Noone cares about them in the FPS world because they haven't been a factor. EVE is not an FPS, so why would Goonswarm be expected to have an FPS presence in the first place? How concerned are The Imperfects that they aren't a factor in the competitive RTS scene?
We are talking past each other.
I don't expect to see significant Goon presence in Dust514 beyond their ISK. |

Some people from Goonwaffe play Dust, but those people don't represent Goonwaffe in any official capacity, and are playing on their own, out of personal interest in the game. Hope that clears everything up.

Goonswarm Federation (GSF) won't care until DUST has a significant impact on the economy of EVE, or nullsec sov. Currently, all DUST does is make it a little easier to capture a FacWar system, which usually means nil.
When the District system is implemented for null, GSF will likely hand out contracts to defend their sov, as PI resources are the main source of POS fuel. POSes are basically the backbone of 0.0 manufacturing and economy, so making their source of fuel vulnerable to capture is, in itself, a game-changer. Expect Goonswarm to start caring when that day comes, and not a second sooner. |

When Dust affects the sovereignty of planets in null-sec, I think Goons will be willing to take action, otherwise other alliances might steal their cake. |

Seriously? We need way more changes to resources model of nullsec because PI isn't going to motivate anyone. CCP needs to give us new resrouces for ships and dust merc gear.

Ice interdiction, yo.
but more to the point the big EVE corps don't care by and large unless there is an economic advantage to using DUST mercs and there is a way they can utilize DUST mercs to **** off/interdict/weaken sov/etc. their enemies. A real, tangible benefit is needed before the funding of DUST mercenaries becomes more than a few people in the EVE alliances passing along pocket change to fund their DUST toons and good buddies. |

Nobody has any idea how Dust will actually interact with EVE. CCP has speculated about some general ideas they have, but as the stuff is at least a year away it's probably not useful to speculate about it. |

BOB tried that. They discovered that eighty frigates versus eight battleships was not a fight stacked in their favor.
There's a difference. In EVE you can swarm 80 players against 8. In Dust, you can't. Each team will have the same number of players in a given match, so numbers < skill, which kind of goes against the Goon strategy. Not to say there aren't skilled goons out there, but the thing that sets them apart is their ability to zerg their enemies.
The Pandemic Legion comparison is much better, but assumes we give a damn about getting their attention. Just because PL is a great merc corp in EVE doesn't mean we are trying to be them or need their attention.
Why does this thread feel so negative? I am not aware of any hostility between us and any EVE corp, so why not just answer the question? We do not know the exact nature of how EVE and Dust will interact, so we have a policy of keeping our options open. We are not linked to the Goons in any way. By my understanding, Immobile Infantry are the Goon presence here, and many of them seem like decent enough people, so perhaps we may work with them when it serves a purpose, or maybe we'll be on the other side. Depends on the money. We are mercs, after all. But seeing as how the Goons probably have the most money to throw around, seems like they have the most ability to afford the best, which is us. |

We'll see a few goons join in open I'm sure, but I wouldn't bet on some sort of massive CFC Jam-up until they decide it's worth the effort. As DUST is right now? it's just a curiosity, an entertaining little bauble to occasionally play with. |

Immobile Infantry does not represent Goonswarm, so any negative waves you're feeling in this thread aren't of any consequence. Your plan to cash in on Goonswarm ISK in two years time when the nullsec stuff is done and worth doing remains intact. |
