Not really a snide remark or bad joke, just a simple question, so correct me if I am wrong please. :)
the Imperfects are trying to be the Pandemic Legion of DUST 514. The only problem with this is Pandemic Legion will likely never care about them.
For good reason.
But no, the Goons are not hard to find. Neither is TEST, or half a dozen other EVE corps in here. |

BOB tried that. They discovered that eighty frigates versus eight battleships was not a fight stacked in their favor. |

Zat Earthshatter wrote:Goonswarm Federation (GSF) won't care until DUST has a significant impact on the economy of EVE, or nullsec sov. Currently, all DUST does is make it a little easier to capture a FacWar system, which usually means nil.
When the District system is implemented for null, GSF will likely hand out contracts to defend their sov, as PI resources are the main source of POS fuel. POSes are basically the backbone of 0.0 manufacturing and economy, so making their source of fuel vulnerable to capture is, in itself, a game-changer. Expect Goonswarm to start caring when that day comes, and not a second sooner.
Ice interdiction, yo.
but more to the point the big EVE corps don't care by and large unless there is an economic advantage to using DUST mercs and there is a way they can utilize DUST mercs to **** off/interdict/weaken sov/etc. their enemies. A real, tangible benefit is needed before the funding of DUST mercenaries becomes more than a few people in the EVE alliances passing along pocket change to fund their DUST toons and good buddies. |

Nobody has any idea how Dust will actually interact with EVE. CCP has speculated about some general ideas they have, but as the stuff is at least a year away it's probably not useful to speculate about it.
We'll see a few goons join in open I'm sure, but I wouldn't bet on some sort of massive CFC Jam-up until they decide it's worth the effort. As DUST is right now? it's just a curiosity, an entertaining little bauble to occasionally play with. |

There's a difference. In EVE you can swarm 80 players against 8. In Dust, you can't. Each team will have the same number of players in a given match, so numbers < skill, which kind of goes against the Goon strategy. Not to say there aren't skilled goons out there, but the thing that sets them apart is their ability to zerg their enemies.
The Pandemic Legion comparison is much better, but assumes we give a damn about getting their attention. Just because PL is a great merc corp in EVE doesn't mean we are trying to be them or need their attention.
Why does this thread feel so negative? I am not aware of any hostility between us and any EVE corp, so why not just answer the question? We do not know the exact nature of how EVE and Dust will interact, so we have a policy of keeping our options open. We are not linked to the Goons in any way. By my understanding, Immobile Infantry are the Goon presence here, and many of them seem like decent enough people, so perhaps we may work with them when it serves a purpose, or maybe we'll be on the other side. Depends on the money. We are mercs, after all. But seeing as how the Goons probably have the most money to throw around, seems like they have the most ability to afford the best, which is us.
I pick on you guys because I like picking on you guys. But the goonswarm analogy is valid because unless CCP puts major limiters on[CENSORED. INTEL COSTS EXTRA] |

DUST Fiend wrote:Telcontar Dunedain wrote:Noone cares about them in the FPS world because they haven't been a factor. Yea, but DUST isn't from the FPS world; it's from the MMOFPS world, and it's a game changer for sure. Who gives a crap about a tiny little corp of good players if they don't have real muscle behind them. It's all about alliances and coordination in large numbers. DUST mercs should inform themselves of the power struggles within EVE, as they will some day play a direct role in their day to day lives as immortal killing machines.
immortal expendable meat is better than meat you have to pay death benefits to families for.
And yeah, mercs who play nice with the big EVE corps will find that budgetary concerns are less... concerning. |
