Yea, but DUST isn't from the FPS world; it's from the MMOFPS world, and it's a game changer for sure.
Who gives a crap about a tiny little corp of good players if they don't have real muscle behind them. It's all about alliances and coordination in large numbers. DUST mercs should inform themselves of the power struggles within EVE, as they will some day play a direct role in their day to day lives as immortal killing machines. |

immortal expendable meat is better than meat you have to pay death benefits to families for.
And yeah, mercs who play nice with the big EVE corps will find that budgetary concerns are less... concerning. |

Goons are already in DUST.
Just not where most of us are looking.
They'll make themselves known when it's advantageous to do so. I look forward to seeing it happen. And I look forward to seeing how many people are caught completely off-guard when it happens too. Should be entertaining.
Also, DUST won't matter to EVE players until there are real and measurable advantages to having DUST players on your side. At the moment, FW isn't enough for most to care. |

When the District system is implemented for null, GSF will likely hand out contracts to defend their sov, as PI resources are the main source of POS fuel. POSes are basically the backbone of 0.0 manufacturing and economy, so making their source of fuel vulnerable to capture is, in itself, a game-changer. Expect Goonswarm to start caring when that day comes, and not a second sooner. All I hear is excuses for them being bad. Goonswarm = shook
And all i hear from you is terrible attempts at trolling, which you're really not very good at i may add.
We've had this conversation lots of times, normally with you because you can't seem to understand that Goonwaffe is not the only source of goons, theres a lot of Console FPS goons over at SA.com who hate EVE.
Not to mention we don't really give a **** about FW some of us are here, once again i'll say it... just to get the lay of the land and set up some basic logistics ready for when the times right. You'll know when we're here in force. Till then keep trying for babbys first troll, you never know, you may get lucky and get a reaction one time. I know it's difficult for you to understand there's things other than your play station or EVE in the world and that's fine. We know you think you're a special snowflake.

BOB tried that. They discovered that eighty frigates versus eight battleships was not a fight stacked in their favor. There's a difference. In EVE you can swarm 80 players against 8. In Dust, you can't. Each team will have the same number of players in a given match, so numbers < skill, which kind of goes against the Goon strategy. Not to say there aren't skilled goons out there, but the thing that sets them apart is their ability to zerg their enemies. The Pandemic Legion comparison is much better, but assumes we give a damn about getting their attention. Just because PL is a great merc corp in EVE doesn't mean we are trying to be them or need their attention. Why does this thread feel so negative? I am not aware of any hostility between us and any EVE corp, so why not just answer the question? We do not know the exact nature of how EVE and Dust will interact, so we have a policy of keeping our options open. We are not linked to the Goons in any way. By my understanding, Immobile Infantry are the Goon presence here, and many of them seem like decent enough people, so perhaps we may work with them when it serves a purpose, or maybe we'll be on the other side. Depends on the money. We are mercs, after all. But seeing as how the Goons probably have the most money to throw around, seems like they have the most ability to afford the best, which is us.
Also this isn't strictly true. There's lots of room for numbers still in this game, you're just basing your opinions on exsisting mechanics, not what's going to come in the future. Believe me, there's room for zerging so long as you have money.

Nothing worse then brothers fighting. Sure, there's black eyes, bumps, and scrapes but nothing changes the fact that at the end of the day th ey are still brothers. |

goonswarm can't run dust.
because dust doesn't have swarm tactics. bodies over over members can't work on this because you can only have so much on the map.
sad really. i would totally love to see these elitest groups get schooled by 500 snipers and 500 heavies. |

We don't know how many maps can be in play on planet at once yet.
If they can start 50 battles at same time, elite corp can't even contest some of them unless they spread out.
300 spartans in open steppe would not have gone as well, with no goat path to be enveloped by spartans would have done much better. To early to tell if numbers vs quality will tip toward quality. On a single battle, quality of course. Goons won't care if they can meet goals by bypassing strongpoint imperfects can hold indefinably.
Some goons do play fps, they are just not necessarily goonswarm. The something awful forum has many corps/clans in different games and genre. I knew a guy that kept complaining about goons beating his clan in team fortress, and I knew a goon number of years back involved in the "goon swim team" that crashed a wow server. Goon in high school was always playing counter strike.
For record, I am in no way connected to goons. Just met a few in real life, and used to check Photoshop Phriday section of something awful for the humor. |

there are also inherent flaws with being too good for school. you place a 100k isk on a district. not many people with actual stuff to lose will bother. thus turning over the planet easily.
a small group of 20 can place multiple contracts out on different districts. they will probably flip a good 15+ without actually trying. |

Yes I believe the IMPs would win almost every single match they are in. However, depending on how CCP implements timers and territory ownership, GSF or similar could attack simultaneously many many districts/planets and the IMPs might not have the numbers to defend all the districts that are attacked even though we all believe that they could successfully defend each district that they could man a full team for.
