Nobody outside of these forums has any idea who or what Imperfects are.

Goonswarm is an EVE corp. It doesn't care about Dust, because Dust has nothing to do with EVE, currently. It may never care about Dust. Some people from Goonswarm play Dust, but those people don't represent Goonswarm in any official capacity. Hope that clears everything up.

EVE is not an FPS, so why would Goonswarm be expected to have an FPS presence in the first place? How concerned are The Imperfects that they aren't a factor in the competitive RTS scene?

Goonswarm Federation (GSF) won't care until DUST has a significant impact on the economy of EVE, or nullsec sov.
Currently, all DUST does is make it a little easier to capture a FacWar system, which usually means nil.

When the District system is implemented for null, GSF will likely hand out contracts to defend their sov, as PI resources are the main source of POS fuel.
POSes are basically the backbone of 0.0 manufacturing and economy, so making their source of fuel vulnerable to capture is, in itself, a game-changer.
Expect Goonswarm to start caring when that day comes, and not a second sooner.

There's a difference. In EVE you can swarm 80 players against 8. In Dust, you can't. Each team will have the same number of players in a given match, so numbers < skill, which kind of goes against the Goon strategy. Not to say there aren't skilled goons out there, but the thing that sets them apart is their ability to zerg their enemies.

The Pandemic Legion comparison is much better, but assumes we give a damn about getting their attention. Just because PL is a great merc corp in EVE doesn't mean we are trying to be them or need their attention.

Why does this thread feel so negative? I am not aware of any hostility between us and any EVE corp, so why not just answer the question? We do not know the exact nature of how EVE and Dust will interact, so we have a policy of keeping our options open. We are not linked to the Goons in any way. By my understanding, Immobile Infantry are the Goon presence here, and many of them seem like decent enough people, so perhaps we may work with them when it serves a purpose, or maybe we'll be on the other side. Depends on the money. We are mercs, after all. But seeing as how the Goons probably have the most money to throw around, seems like they have the most ability to afford the best, which is us.

But likely hot favourites to take the next tournament, no? If/when Dust 514 gets its first FPS New Eden Open, favourites there too? So they could hog tournament prizes for some time yet. Plenty for them to make a mark with competitively, without needing to deal with SOV.
